I was just wondering, how far apart are these two developments and do you all thing these two sites could change the perception of Houston as a urban walkable city? Which development do you think has the greatest potential for development? Some say that the KBR site should become a park, but I believe that there could be a much better use for the site. I'm sure many of you are probably aware, but I did not know this. I knew it was up there, but not second.

Really good news for downtown. KBR has decided NOT to consolidate into a new campus in West Houston, but will instead expand downtown. They expect to ultimately need 1.2 million square feet of office space downtown. That appears to be about 300,000 square feet more than they currently occupy downtown. HBJ KBR story

I've picked up on some industry buzz about redevelopment of the KBR/Halliburton headquarters site. Seems that now that the spinoff is complete, they're refocusing some effort on their nearly 80-acre Buffalo Bayou tract. Does anybody have information on this? Either what is planned or when they expect to see something come out of the ground?

Houston-based KBR plans to develop a west Houston office campus in order to be closer to its growing employee and customer base, the company said Friday. The move will put the engineering and construction giant near the Energy Corridor, an area along Interstate 10 known for its concentration of oil and gas companies and the firms that service them. The development will include more than 910,000 square feet of space in low-rise buildings at the southwest corner of Grand Parkway and Interstate 10 near Katy. KBR, which was spun off from Halliburton last year, will join the likes of ConocoPhillips, Shell and BP with big complexes in this region. The new location also will give the company better access to a skilled labor pool. full article
