  2. From today's Memorial section of the Chronicle. http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/memorial/news/article/Corridor-to-develop-master-plan-5576265.php The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center is planning a West Campus along Park Row to the east of the Addicks Park and Ride.
  3. Proposed 21-story high-rise development at Bunker Hill Rd & I-10. There's also an office building shown but it's unlikely to be built anytime soon. Site is currently being used as a staging area for Hotel Zaza.

  5. Crowne Plaza Hotel At Galleria located at 7611 Katy Fwy. Renovations coming soon? A lot of the Crowne Plaza Hotels are rebranding. Covid really took out a lot of the class-b hotels. Seeing it everywhere. https://www.ihg.com/crowneplaza/hotels/us/en/houston/houtg/hoteldetail

  7. Here are my photos so far. I have some more I have to take of this really cool wall they have left standing all by itself. I keep wondering how it stays up because there is nothing to brace it. I guess they are waiting for it to fall on its own. I will head over there this afternoon and add to these. I took these two weeks ago: http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05.jpg From the TGI Friday's lot perpendicular to the Tollway. http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05-2.jpg Same angle. http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05-3.j
  8. I was looking through Metro's website for updates on MetroNext, and found this powerpoint from a meeting that apparently happened about a week ago. According to the presentation, the whole project is already funded through the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s Transportation Improvement Program (and as I understand it, the root of much of that money is TXDOT), and the first public meeting is happening by the end of February. We've already seen preliminary designs for the two middle stations, and the whole thing seems pretty straightforward. It's the only major project from MetroNext that's

  10. About 6 months ago, I heard a rumor about Central Market. The rumormill said that Oshman's (on the corner of Gessner and I-10) was going to move into the old Service Merchandise store (about 1/2 mile west) and Central Market was going to take over the Oshman's location. Well, for the past 6 months, it's been mostly a rumor but we've been watching with interest as the old Service Merchandise store got a facelift. Sure enough, a banner was just hung on the facade announcing that the store would be an Oshman's. So... one down, one to go? Personally, I'm thrilled about having a Central Market
  11. US 290 Program Reaches Milestone with First Major Construction Contract "Construction on the IH 610/US 290 interchange begins this summer." HOUSTON - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) took bids earlier today for the US 290 Program's first major construction project located at the IH 610/US 290 interchange. Williams Brothers Construction Company, Inc., had the winning low bid of $151.5 million. The Texas Transportation Commission will award the project at their May 26 meeting. Work on this first contract, known as Project K, includes constructing an inbound direct connector from

  13. This corner used to have Cornbreads, (as nice as it was to have a sports bar down the street from me some of the folks that went there where kinda thuggish), Schlotzkiz (spelling?), CiCi's Pizza, and the Asian Supermarket. It's all gone now! There is a sign up for "Cherry Companies", who I guess is either the Demo company or the General Contractor. I'm wondering if anyone has a clue as to what will be constructed here?
  14. Anyone know what this is? B & E Reprographics' new building?

  17. Have only seen a few brief pieces on potential redevelopment of this site at the Katy Freeway and the Beltway, however this is the first I've been able to find on something concrete. Per bisnow... http://www.bisnow.com/commercial-real-estate/houston/bisnow-exclusive-sneak-peek-at-block-10-west/ It deals with the conversion of the former Great Indoors store into office space, with plans to add a new 15 story building. PDF of current plans from Hicks. This version says the office building will be 12 stories though. http://www.hicksventures.com/assets/pdf/Block10Max.pdf

  20. there has been a sign for over a year now off the north i-10 feeder past barker cypress for a new texas childrens hospital. has anyone heard anymore about this new development? and is interfin ever going to develop the land north of i-10 at grand parkway because that was where the 'new' galleria was supposed to be built. I think they are in impending lawsuits with katy mills mall, but I am not too sure.
  21. I know this is way out west and not really significant but I work in phase one and I plan on providing frequent updates for those who like pictures of construction. PRESS RELEASE: https://communityimpact.com/houston/katy/development-construction/2019/07/19/katy-ranch-offices-phase-2-breaks-ground-to-deliver-in-summer-2020/ A photo from earlier today. 22. I'm trying to learn who built my home in Memorial Area around 1969. That is the date of the original mortgage but its possible that the home was constructed before (or parts of it.) After an 18 month search, I know more than I want to about the neighborhood but still have no information on the architect so thought I would reach out to ask for help. What started as research to understand building technology for a complicated insurance claim (3 overlapping losses before/during Harvey) has grown into a deep admiration for who ever built this home. Help!! I can't find the bottom of my rabbit h
  23. I don't know if this has been talked about yet, but Amazon opened their 18th tech hub in Houston around late July. it's located in City Centre Five (25,000 square feet of the building), in which they plan to higher 150 employees immediately. I have a feeling they're going to expand in the future though. https://blog.aboutamazon.com/job-creation-and-investment/amazon-opens-new-tech-hub-in-houston
  24. What about the construction south of 10, just west of the acura dealership (just outside HW6 on the west side of town). Any ideas what's going up out there? I can't find anything.
  25. http://www.trinity.edu/mkearl/death02/deat...e/01Define.html is likely to get a "modern" neighbor. The site is on Memorial Woods Drive, 77024, facing the Katy Freeway directly west and south of its interchange with 610. Kirksey has designed a 16-storey speculative office building and 1,500-space parking garage on what is currently First Baptist Houston's west lot. First Baptist's homepage suggests, "Parking off-site is one of the easiest ways that HFBC members can support the church's ministry. Doing so opens up on-site spaces for visitors, families with young children and individuals with p
