  2. I was looking through Metro's website for updates on MetroNext, and found this powerpoint from a meeting that apparently happened about a week ago. According to the presentation, the whole project is already funded through the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s Transportation Improvement Program (and as I understand it, the root of much of that money is TXDOT), and the first public meeting is happening by the end of February. We've already seen preliminary designs for the two middle stations, and the whole thing seems pretty straightforward. It's the only major project from MetroNext that's

  5. About 6 months ago, I heard a rumor about Central Market. The rumormill said that Oshman's (on the corner of Gessner and I-10) was going to move into the old Service Merchandise store (about 1/2 mile west) and Central Market was going to take over the Oshman's location. Well, for the past 6 months, it's been mostly a rumor but we've been watching with interest as the old Service Merchandise store got a facelift. Sure enough, a banner was just hung on the facade announcing that the store would be an Oshman's. So... one down, one to go? Personally, I'm thrilled about having a Central Market
  6. Proposed 21-story high-rise development at Bunker Hill Rd & I-10. There's also an office building shown but it's unlikely to be built anytime soon. Site is currently being used as a staging area for Hotel Zaza.
  7. Here are my photos so far. I have some more I have to take of this really cool wall they have left standing all by itself. I keep wondering how it stays up because there is nothing to brace it. I guess they are waiting for it to fall on its own. I will head over there this afternoon and add to these. I took these two weeks ago: http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05.jpg From the TGI Friday's lot perpendicular to the Tollway. http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05-2.jpg Same angle. http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05-3.j
  8. This corner used to have Cornbreads, (as nice as it was to have a sports bar down the street from me some of the folks that went there where kinda thuggish), Schlotzkiz (spelling?), CiCi's Pizza, and the Asian Supermarket. It's all gone now! There is a sign up for "Cherry Companies", who I guess is either the Demo company or the General Contractor. I'm wondering if anyone has a clue as to what will be constructed here?
  9. Listed as "on the boards". Anyone have more info? Really nice for the area. 12-story apartment high rise348 units64,500 square foot of amenities26,000 square foot retail space44,000 square foot Whole Foods http://www.humphreys.com/portfolio/on-the-boards-5/ Edit: Metronational is the developer.
  10. Have only seen a few brief pieces on potential redevelopment of this site at the Katy Freeway and the Beltway, however this is the first I've been able to find on something concrete. Per bisnow... http://www.bisnow.com/commercial-real-estate/houston/bisnow-exclusive-sneak-peek-at-block-10-west/ It deals with the conversion of the former Great Indoors store into office space, with plans to add a new 15 story building. PDF of current plans from Hicks. This version says the office building will be 12 stories though. http://www.hicksventures.com/assets/pdf/Block10Max.pdf
  11. there has been a sign for over a year now off the north i-10 feeder past barker cypress for a new texas childrens hospital. has anyone heard anymore about this new development? and is interfin ever going to develop the land north of i-10 at grand parkway because that was where the 'new' galleria was supposed to be built. I think they are in impending lawsuits with katy mills mall, but I am not too sure.
  12. I'm trying to learn who built my home in Memorial Area around 1969. That is the date of the original mortgage but its possible that the home was constructed before (or parts of it.) After an 18 month search, I know more than I want to about the neighborhood but still have no information on the architect so thought I would reach out to ask for help. What started as research to understand building technology for a complicated insurance claim (3 overlapping losses before/during Harvey) has grown into a deep admiration for who ever built this home. Help!! I can't find the bottom of my rabbit h
  13. I don't know if this has been talked about yet, but Amazon opened their 18th tech hub in Houston around late July. it's located in City Centre Five (25,000 square feet of the building), in which they plan to higher 150 employees immediately. I have a feeling they're going to expand in the future though. https://blog.aboutamazon.com/job-creation-and-investment/amazon-opens-new-tech-hub-in-houston
  14. What about the construction south of 10, just west of the acura dealership (just outside HW6 on the west side of town). Any ideas what's going up out there? I can't find anything.
  15. http://www.trinity.edu/mkearl/death02/deat...e/01Define.html is likely to get a "modern" neighbor. The site is on Memorial Woods Drive, 77024, facing the Katy Freeway directly west and south of its interchange with 610. Kirksey has designed a 16-storey speculative office building and 1,500-space parking garage on what is currently First Baptist Houston's west lot. First Baptist's homepage suggests, "Parking off-site is one of the easiest ways that HFBC members can support the church's ministry. Doing so opens up on-site spaces for visitors, families with young children and individuals with p
  16. I spotted this sign in Cottage Grove advertising a new office building between Radcliffe and T.C. Jester along I-10. The lot was cleared a while back. I couldn't find a posting on this, but I also didn't look too long. The sign must have gone up recently. It wasn't in the February street view. This seems odd: skybridge and mid-2018 completion?
  17. "ConocoPhillips refining offshoot Phillips 66 will build a new headquarters facility no more than 10 miles away from the company’s current location, “within the I-10 and Beltway 8 corridors,”......" http://swamplot.com/...ton/2012-03-20/ This will probably be a suburban campus-type property like the existing headquarters, but this is still cool to hear.

  21. according to this article, there seems to be a need in West houston (which they call the geologic center of the city, believe it or not) that will be completed in 2010, at which the old hospital will be vacated and renovated. should make traffic fun there for a couple of years! Especially when you consider the various ramps to/from bw8 and I-10 are to be demolished in the near future. I look forward to this being comleted, though. Should make for an excellent addition to the city.
  22. Noticed a couple of days ago that excavation was done about a block West of Dairy Ashford. Looks to be about two acres. Anybody have a clue as to what's going up?
  23. Does anyone have any information on the office buildings that are going up on the Westbound Katy Fwy feeder at Houston Chronical Blvd (Northeast corner of this intersection)? Looks like two 4-story L-shaped buildings with a parking garage in the back. The pre-casted concrete walls went up rather quickly in the last 3 weeks, as is the rest of the office complex. Does anyone know who the developer is and if there are any tennants yet? Sorry if this topic has already been discussed -- Please merge if it has. Thanks in advance! 25. Methodist plans hospital on west side Completion of 192-bed facility expected in 2010 By LYNN COOK Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle The Methodist Hospital System will spend $300 million to build a 192-bed hospital in west Houston, hospital executives announced Friday. The hospital, with an emergency room, open-heart surgery capability and cancer treatment areas, will be on the north side of the Katy Freeway just west of Barker Cypress, Methodist president and CEO Ron Girotto said in a statement. Construction is scheduled to start early next year, with completion by 2010. The Methodist hospit
