There are CBRE signs up at the Bethel Church at 1107 Shepherd, or the block bounded by Shepherd, Durham, Center and Nett. This might create difficulty for the restaurant formerly known as Floyd's, since they use the church parking lot for their customers. Redevelopment planned for the old Rex Supply building on Harrisburg at Milby. This is near the Second Ward/Coffee Plant stop on METRO Green Line light rail. Looks to be mixed-use retail with plans for a three story garage. Definitely would be a welcome addition near the Sampson/York corridor. http://swamplot.com/what-rex-supplys-harrisburg-complex-would-look-like-with-restaurants-throngs-of-pedestrians-taking-over-its-thru-street/2018-09-20/ https://www.hpiproperties.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/milby-junction-1.pdf Special thanks to Swamplot for finding this (or at least making me aware of it lol)

I'll update the title as we get more news but we potentially have a major project in the works here. After being here for decades, the tire shop along with possibly the lumber yard are both shutting down along Houston Ave. This is a good swathe of land near downtown so the possibilities are big here. Will update when I learn more.

Vargo's On The Lake: Multifamily Development In Piney Point
houstonfella posted a topic in Going Up!
Houston developer Sandy Aron is set to pay $6.1 million for Vargo's Restaurant, which he plans to tear down and replace with a 312-unit apartment complex called Vargo's on the Lake. Construction of Vargo's on the Lake is anticipated to start by the end of the year... "It will be top shelf," he said. Stanford Steinberg with Houston-based Steinberg Design Collaborative LLP, designer of the high-rise resident tower at 3333 Allen Parkway, has been tapped as architect for the Vargo's project. I am looking for a special restaurant that is affordable for our 2nd wedding anniversary. Money is tight, so we said that we would give each other the gift of a nice meal out. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Nice article on a new development in the Up-Town area. http://www.bizjournals.com/bizspace/housto...tory_id=1176985 The property is located at: here I thought the comment on Houston's good ol' laissez faire property development in lieu of legislative land use restrictions was interesting. It was just one of those things you knew, but hadn't really thought of it that way.

I was driving down Sage this morning to ge my breakfast at Chica Fila, and could not help but notice the huge crane that is imbetween the apartment complex 3000 sage and the new shopping center still under construction. It is much taller than the one they have up at the Holiday Inn construciton site. Does anyone have any idea what they are building? Just curious.
