  1. Good afternoon everyone. Hoping all of you are staying safe out there with this international pandemic, etc.,, Anyway, here are some videos for nostalgia & everyone to reminisce the Good Ole Days: Metromedia (later Fox 26) 26 KRIV-TV Houston from 1983: Metromedia 26 Program Line-up (either Spring or Summer 1983): Notice the studio set behind Ginger Casey during what was then Metromedia 26 newscast from 1983. (Sports Update with Dave Sheehan from 1983) Metromedia 26 Promo from 1983:
  2. Just found out NBC 2 Weekday Morning Anchor Taniya Wright is no longer with the station after just 9 months (she joined in August of 2019). According to multiple sources, no other information is available yet. Wright anchored the weekday morning & midday newscasts until today. No information about her future plans were available or disclosed. I should note Wright was on today's morning newscast earlier today, but not in the midday newscast for some reason. Thoughts on Wright's departure from NBC 2 & the revolving door at the station ? https://mikem
  3. Fox 26 5:00 PM Anchor Rashi Vats has been working her way through the Lone Star State's TV markets & Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com has a list of achievements on Vats' journalism career over the years: She's also married to CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston Sports Reporter Daniel Gotera as well as a graduate of Texas Christian University. https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2020/09/rashi-vats-5pm-anchor-fox26.html https://www.facebook.com/RashiVatsFOX26/
  4. Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com is reporting that after 22 years with the ABC O&O Station, sports anchor Bob Slovak (whom I strongly felt was wrongly passed over for the Sports Director job a few years back) is leaving Ch. 13 KTRK-TV Houston's sports department after more than two decades. Slovak joined Ch. 13 in 1998 as the sports reporter alongside longtime Houston sports anchors Tim Melton & the late Bob Allen. In 2013, when Melton suffered a stroke & had to retire from the TV biz, Slovak moved from sports reporter to weekend sports anchor. Before coming to Ch. 13, Sl
  5. Beloved Ch. 13 reporter Deborah Wrigley is leaving the ABC O&O Station on September 4th according to Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com & other social media. "Deborah is an icon of broadcasting & a true journalist Houstonians will always remember," News Director Rehan Aslam said in an internal memo obtained by mikemcguff.com. "We wanted to thank Deborah for her countless stories that made such an impact on thousands & thousands of people. She served our city & our communities with grace & professionalism." The memo said Wrigley started with the station 42 years a
  6. Sad news from the Ch. 13 Eyewitness News family. Photojournalist Willie Dixon died last night at the age of 52. He joined the ABC O&O station in 2006 from WFTV in Orlando, FL. Dixon was also a graduate of Alabama State University, where he played trombone in the ASU Hornet Marching Band. https://abc13.com/society/remembering-abc13-photojournalist-willie-dixon/6130883/ https://www.insragram.com/p/B_dMdmPjNkA/
  7. Good afternoon HAIF family. Hoping everyone stays safe during the COVID-19 crisis. In case anybody wants to go back to memory lane, here are some oldies from the 1980s: Ch. 13 KTRK-TV Houston from May 3rd, 1989: Live at 5 newscast & 6:00 PM newscast (the latter is included in this clip).
  8. In case anybody had been living under a rock, then-NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston Reporter Sophia Beausoleil had left the Houston NBC Station this month, along with her baby son having left for Dallas. where her husband is a medical resident. She also announced she'll be working for NBC 5 KXAS-TV Dallas. https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2020/01/sophia-beausoleil-leaves-kprc-2.html
  9. CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston Anchor Lisa Hernandez & her husband, ESPN 97.5 FM Host Joel Blank got a terrific treat the day before Halloween with the birth of their 2nd daughter: "She's here! Baby Madison made her debut this morning, October 30th, at 7lb, 9oz & we are over the moon," Hernandez posted on Facebook. Big sister Taylor was born in August of 2015. Congratulations! https://www.mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2019/10/lisa-hernandez-khou-second-baby-daughter.html https://www.facebook.com/KHOULisaHernandez/posts/2764440993618147?_tn_=-R
  10. WOW! I'm quite surprised about this...... NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston Weekday Traffic Anchor Jennifer Reyna will be leaving the Houston NBC Station on tomorrow. Like to hear your thoughts & reaction on Reyna leaving NBC 2 ? https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2019/10/jennifer-reyna-is-leaving-kprc-2.html https://www.click2houston.com/news/local/jennifer-reyna-leaving-kprc-2 https://www.facebook.com/JenniferReynaTX/
  11. Last night was the final day for NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston Weekend Sports Reporter Lainie Fritz, who left the station after 3 years. https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2019/08/lainie-fritz-leaves-kprc-2.html https://www.facebook.com/mcguff713/ Fritz's Instagram Page, where she explained her departure & possible future plans: Like to hear your thoughts on Fritz leaving NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston.
  12. Good afternoon HAIF bloggers. Unless some of y'all have been living under a rock or a secret beach retreat in the West Coast, Ch. 13 brought in Brheanna Berry to join the ABC O&O Station back in early February. She came from News 3 WTKR-TV Norfolk, VA (she had been there since August of 2017). Plus Berry worked with KELO-TV Sioux Falls, SD as the Morning Anchor/Reporter from March 2016 to 2017; she was also the station's heathbeat reporter. She began her TV News career at KLFY-TV News 10 Lafayette, LA as the Weekend Anchor/Reporter/Multimedia Journalist from November 2014 to M

  15. Upon the completion of the October 2018 survey period, "Noticiero Telemundo Houston a las 10:00 PM" is Houston's #1 most-watched local late newscast in any language among Adults 18 to 49 & Adults 25 to 54. Telemundo Houston ranked #1 delivering Houston's largest Spanish-Language from Monday through Friday prime-time viewing audiences among Adults 18 to 49 & Adults 25 to 54. Specifically, Telemundo's KTMD-TV's 8:00 PM "FALSA IDENTIDAD" & 9:00 PM "EL RECLUSO", delivered more Adults 18 to 34, Adults 18 to 49, & 25 to 54 watching Spanish-Language programming in their r
  16. Looks like CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston has an updated logo in case you've been living under a glacier.... Besides their new home at Avenida in Downtown, they also updated their logo as well. According to Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com., it looks like CBS 11 is keeping up with the times as they're making recent changes to their Weekday Morning Show & other developments. Newscast Studio reported CBS 11 began using their new logo on Social Media. Interesting to see if the other TEGNA TV Stations across the United States have changed or updated their logos including graphics
  17. Good Morning HAIF Family. Looks like changes are taking place at Fox 26 KRIV-TV Houston. The new Weekday Morning Newscast (4:00 AM to 6:00 AM) "Wake Up With SallyMac & Lina" had debuted this morning with Sally MacDonald & Lina De Florias (who left KTVK/KPHO-TV Phoenix to come to Houston). This was also a result of Tom Zizka moving to the weekends. Just getting everybody to know what are your thoughts on the changes at Fox 26 & how do you like the new Morning TV Show ? http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2018/09/wake-up-with-sallymac-lina-fox-26-kriv

  19. Could this be the beginning of the end for CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston's Morning TV News Show ? It appears the TEGNA Station might consider pulling a NewsFix or something similar to it when CW 39 KIAH-TV ended their newscasts in favor of NewsFix back in 2010. http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2018/06/khou-11-blowing-up-its-morning-show.html

  21. Good evening ladies & gentlemen. Who remembers this News Update from April 29th, 1985 on Ch. 13 ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1z9Ktcf3Q8k
  22. Unless you've been living under a rock for months or weeks, it appears that what's going on at Ch. 13 appears to be upping the ante. Ch. 13 Reporter Kevin Quinn has resigned after 15 years with the ABC O&O Station in order to spend with family, but it'll be interesting to see where Quinn lands next. However, he's not the only one leaving Ch. 13 as there's been speculation swirling around longtime employees exiting from engineering, community affairs & beyond over the last few months. Mike McGuff's Ch. 13 contact David Lee bolted from the ABC O&O Station as w
  23. CBS 11 KHOU-TV Reporter Josh Chapin announced late last night on social media that he's bolting to the Tar Heel State. Although he cannot reveal where in NC. https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2018/01/josh-chapin-exits-khou-11.html?m=1
