  1. Tom Koch is retiring from Ch. 13 KTRK-TV Houston after 39 years with the ABC O&O Station he announced at the end of yesterday's weekday morning newscast. His final newscast will be on May 28th. "For nearly 40 years, I've been honored & humbled that so many people welcomed me into their homes every day," Koch said in a statement emailed to mikemcguff.com. "It's been a dream come true for a small-town Wisconsin kid to be part of this incredible station & truly great city of Houston. But I've decided it's time to step aside, turn off that early morning alarm & wake up to a new adventure." The station tells Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com the week of May 24th, will be featuring an on-air celebration featuring Koch & his many achievements will begin, with a final goodbye on May 28th, 2021. Here are some videos of Koch's time with Ch. 13 over the years: Weekday morning newscast from March 6th, 1990. February 2nd, 1991.
  2. It's been 16 days & nobody hasn't seen or heard from Ch. 13 KTRK-TV Houston Weekday Morning Anchor Samica Knight, who hasn't been on the air in weeks, nor has she posted to her Social Media accounts since January 7th. According to Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com, he also hadn't heard anything regarding Knight's whereabouts. McGuff also mentioned several Ch. 13 viewers had been emailing him, hitting him up with questions from those concerned about Knight's whereabouts. From what I can tell, Brhe Berry & Mayra Moreno had been filing-in for Knight on the weekday morning newscasts lately. This isn't the first time Knight has been missing from the Ch. 13 airwaves. In 2018, McGuff mentioned that Knight had left some clues on her Social Media accounts to let people know she was experiencing medical issues. https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2020/01/where-is-samica-knight-2020.html

Legendary NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston News Anchor Bill Balleza announced he will be retiring from the Houston NBC Station effective in January of 2020. He & his wife, Melissa have 3 children & 2 grandchildren. 5. Ladies & Gentlemen.... guess who's BACK BABY: the legendary Ch. 13-ista Dave Ward.... He's returning to the ABC O&O Station & launching a new segment with Ch. 13 called "Dave Ward's Houston", the weekly feature, which launches in September, will be taking a look back each week at a topic in Bayou City history that even natives like myself might not be familiar with. "I have thought about doing this for quite some time & mainly because there are whole generations of young people in Houston who aren't aware of some of the history of this great city & how we got here & how we grew & what the future looks like," Ward told mikemcguff.com. http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2018/08/dave-wards-houston-to-launch-on-abc13.html http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2018/08/abc13-and-anchor-emeritus-dave-ward.html Please comment & give your thoughts on Ward's new segment! Very much appreciate it.
