  1. https://fulshearcentral.com/ Development with office condos, retail & hotel. Developer: Janapriya Upscale Architect: Kirksey Leasing: CBRE Engineering: BGE This article from Community Impact says it should be breaking ground this summer. It mentions a site along the Westpark Tollway/FM 1093 on the north side, but CBRE's information shows it is actually on the south side of that road, near Texas Heritage Parkway and a planned extension of McKinnon Road. Renderings from website.
  2. "Houston-based Johnson Development has acquired 1,491 acres from The George Foundation in Fort Bend County for a master-planned community that could be expanded significantly in the future. The property is located on the northwestern tip of the foundation’s George Ranch, off FM 2977 at Koeblen Road behind Lamar Consolidated Independent School District’s Randle High School and the new Steenbergen Middle School on land that also used to be part of George Ranch. The developer has not yet announced details nor a timeline for the development of the property other than saying that it will have a mix of housing, natural and planned amenities, and mixed-use development."
  3. I'll admit I've only been aware of the park passing by it over the years on 59 and never have been to it. It is a Fort Bend County property. For those not familiar with the area, it's just southwest of Kendleton near the Lum Road exit, extending toward the San Bernard River. Thought it was interesting as over the past year, people have become more informed of the historical nature of the park as a number of individuals have become involved in raising awareness about the resting places of a number African-Americans of the mid and late 1800s and the deterioration of the grounds that are the burial sites. One of the most notable is Benjamin Franklin Williams - the first man of color to be recognized as a Methodist minister in the state, and a three-term state representative for Fort Bend County who was said to have been the first non-white person to have earned votes for the Speaker's position in that chamber. Former Congressman Pete Olson has been spearheading much of the efforts during this time and has gotten the Exchange Club of Sugar Land involved in making regular visits to the site and conducting several cleanups to remove overgrowth and debris and to keep it down. The Fort Bend Herald had an article on the most recent visit which occurred yesterday. One of the persons quoted mentioned a desire to turn the site into an educational and historical site not unlike the what happened with the Sugar Land 95. The grounds are also currently home to a small museum - the Fort Bend County Heritage Unlimited Museum, which focuses on the history and achievements of African-Americans in the County.
  4. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/09/27/greystar-build-to-rent-summerwell-sunterra-katy.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_27&cx_artPos=1#cxrecs_s "The Charleston, South Carolina-based real estate company is building the community in Sunterra, Starwood Land’s 2,300-acre master-planned community in Katy. The 13-acre development is located on the northeast side of Sunterra, at 5454 Aurora Bend Drive. It will include 156 three- and four-bedroom detached homes and townhomes, Greystar said. Residents will have access to Sunterra’s amenities, including the planned Crystal Lagoon and The Retreat, a $12 million amenity area featuring a pool, water slide, lazy river, splash pad, fitness center, playground, soccer field and tennis courts. Greystar purchased the land from Starwood Land in September 2022 and started construction on Summerwell in June. It expects to have the first homes ready for lease in the first half of 2024."
  5. Fort Bend Transit is planning a Park & Ride facility between Mason Road and Houghton Road to serve commuters along the Westpark Tollway. In addition, a commuter bus route is being discussed from the site to a location in the Energy Corridor. The specific EC area location has not been determined yet. Another community engagement meeting is planned for 8/22 from 5-8 PM at the Cinco Ranch Library. https://transit-mobility.tti.tamu.edu/westpark-park-and-ride-service-concepts-study/ https://communityimpact.com/houston/katy-fulshear/transportation/2023/08/08/fort-bend-county-engineers-to-establish-westpark-park-ride-for-area-workforce/ "At an Aug. 8 meeting, Commissioners Court awarded a bid to SpawGlass construction firm for the development of a Westpark Park & Ride, located at 19820 FM 1093, Richmond. The station is meant to serve the area’s workforce and residents needing public transportation, officials with the county’s engineering office said in an emailed statement."
  6. https://1093railstotrails.weebly.com/ "Five local governments--Austin County and the cities of Eagle Lake, Fulshear, Wallis, and Weston Lakes--have joined together as a local government corporation to plan and build a 31-mile shared-use trail along a former rail line west of Houston. Together, these municipalities envision a shared-use trail that is safe and accessible for cyclists and pedestrians. The trail would run alongside FM 1093 from Fulshear to Eagle Lake, connecting several Texas towns along the way. " Public engagement meetings have been held in Eagle Lake and Wallis over the past month and a half.
  7. The tower was definitely a landmark for the community, though it had deteriorated over the years and its preservation became a contentious issue in local government due to rehabilitation costs that couldn't be covered. https://www.fbherald.com/news/needville-s-historic-water-tower-comes-down/article_0ddbfed6-980a-11ed-b219-e7d9b67dc2ab.html It's too bad though. I've always liked those older towers. In better years, the blue paint made it "pop" and it was visible for a decent distance due to the flat terrain.
  8. When I was looking at the most recent leasing brochure for Brazos Town Center to update that thread, I saw a mention of a new Fulfillment Center on one of the pages of the leasing brochure. Both the facility off the Grand Parkway and the one around Missouri City are larger than this one that's mentioned. Hadn't seen any reports about another one in local media. Anyone have any additional insight?
