Dunham Pointe and Texas Central High-Speed Rail?
stevenwmurray posted a topic in The Great Northwest
The publicized route of the proposed Texas Central high-speed rail goes directly through the new Dunham Pointe development currently being built. The attached image merges the alignment map from Texas Central and the site plan from Dunham Pointe to show the rail going through planned homes, retail, and mixed use spaces, and very close to the next CFISD educational village. Are developers banking on the high-speed rail never happening? I really have no strong opinion either way about the rail, and I'm not following it super closely to know how likely it is or isn't to happen. But, the potential for this clash is intriguing. What am I missing? Harris County alignment map #2 — https://www.texascentral.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Harris_County_2.pdf Dunham Pointe site plan — https://dunhampointecypress.com/#aerial-

The first in a series of new posts I hope to do after visiting the downtown archives, I didn't get a chance to do as much as I wanted but I did find this interesting. This article describes a 15,000 square foot grocery store located at Mason and 290, with the space being mentioned as Fairfield Village. So, after doing some searching, I found it was at Fairfield Village drive off of Mason Road and not visible from the freeway (I remembered almost NOTHING being there), and sure enough a building from 1991 adjacent to Gambino's Pizza. While most searches for the building show the west view (with other tenants, including Prosperity Bank and Re/Max), I can't find anything on the front save for some information on Pet Supermarket moving in (the facade is largely altered). Despite not being able to get any information on Fairfield Market otherwise (H-E-B's "Fairfield Market" has really polluted Google searching to an impossible degree), the newspaper archives did provide help...the Chron mentions "the parking lot of former Fairfield Market" in December 2005, suggesting it has been out of business for a number of years now, probably explaining why I can't get any information (prior to 2005, any information on past businesses on the Internet gets really spotty really quick). However, the building facade as of September 2016 is entirely intact! suggests "Fairfield Market" though I can't Google it without getting H-E-B stuff. Beyond this article, does anyone have more information on this, such as when it closed and if you have memories to share?

Well it's finally happened, Fairfield has officially gone "full suburban" with this plat. It's a shame though, the Outlet Mall supplied a lot of potential for a mixed-use development, but the recession happened and Simons' plan's went with it.

The property that the current Fairfield Golf Center (driving range) in Cypress sits on has been sold. Does anyone know to whom and what is being built there? I have heard Sam's Club and Methodist Hospital but the land doesn't seem to be big enough for either.

I noticed the new Simon Property sign in front of Fairfield today right past Mason Rd. The sign indicates an 800,000 sq ft retail center coming with phase 1 due to be completed between the fall of 2008 and spring of 2009. Does anybody have more information about this new development?

Does anyone know anything about the apartment complex rumored to have begun construction in Fairfield?

Anyone know if/when this restaurant will reopen? According to their website, they supposedly closed to install a commercial well and were only gonna be closed for a couple of weeks. That was back in January. Here we are in April and they still haven't reopened. Their Facebook page hasn't had any updates in awhile either. I know that the owner of The Shack is involved with Rooster's that will be opening in Fairfield, according to a recent article in a local paper. But am just curious if we'll ever see The Shack reopen?

Two new public housing projects slated for Cypress With the announcement of Barry Kahn's new tax credit insta-slum housing project proposed for Fairfield's front-door, are the residents of Fairfield and surrounding communities organizing? Fairfield Creek Estates - 27800 block of Hwy 290, E of Fairfield Creek Dr. Also, residents of Cypress have another one or two projects that have crept up on the radar...in North Cypress...a few doors down from the Pinnacle insta-slum at Huffmeister & 290...a new insta-slum for the 'elderly' is being proposed for Huffmeister & Cypress North Houston. AT Villages at Cypress - SE of Huffmeister & Cypress North Houston Rd. If you oppose these types of community-destroying projects, it's time to get organized quickly! FYI - there are dozens more of these types of projects proposed each and every year throughout Texas and the Houston area. I suggest you check the link above to find out what's being proposed in your area. Please refer to the following site for more info about these projects: http://www.tdhca.sta...ultifamily/htc/

Any chance anyone out there knows what the current plans are for the unfinished strip center on Mason Rd and Cypresswood in the Fairfield Subdivision? Last heard Citibank got the property on foreclosure and had no plans to continue until the found a new buyer...not sure if that is accurate or not. Would appreciate any knowledge about the situation.

Not sure how well publicized this has been but Fairfield is having their garage sale this weekend in the neighborhood. This is the first time it is not at Traders Village and 420+ homes are participating. Here is a link to a map of all the homes... http://www.communitywalk.com/cypress_texas/fairfield_community_garage_sale_2010/map/502015#101http://www.facebook.com/l/df0af;<04Fa8P10729.3P<8-95.2`%5DJ10

I read in the Chronicle today that the City of Houston is talking about annexing the commercial parts of Fairfield. I can't imagine why that would be a good idea for any of us in the area, but I thought I'd see if anyone here had information on what is going on and why they're doing it.

Anyone know what Cy-Fair ISD plans with the proposed middle school site in Fairfield (at intersection of Fairfield Place and Medley Green). Any timeline? I've also heard rumors that it might be another elementary school instead.
