Yesterday about 9:15am I was driving north on the Gulf Freeway and noticed a motor coach parked under the canopy at the Finger's Furniture store. There were several pickup trucks nearby as well but nothing I could identify as belonging to a particular company or municipal entity. The fence is still up around the parking lot. Does anyone have information regarding what may be happening with this building? Talk about potential!

Rumor on the street is that Cameron acquired 25 acres from Apache. I believe this location is the former Dow Chemical HQ at 400 West Sam Houston Parkway. They have real estate all over the city, particularly in Westway Park. This must be a large consolidation for them. Apparently going to include over 1 million square feet of office. Patrinely will develop it for Cameron...you have to believe the architect will be Gensler. Same team currently developing Southwestern Energy's new HQ in Springwoods Village. How many energy companies are left to build new campuses for?

On a just-barely-related note: Many people know that Service Corporation International, the world's largest funeral home company, is headquartered in Houston. What most people don't know is that there is a cafeteria in the basement of their building. Even fewer people know its nickname is "The Coffin Cafe."

Earlier this year, there was a news item that Occidental (Oxy) was in talks to buy Conoco's (now ConocoPhillips) old headquarters on Katy Freeway. More recently the business media has reported that Oxy has put all of their Greenway Plaza space up for sublease and that the space will be available when Oxy moves to a "a newly constructed, owned property to the west.” Of course, not a single business reporter in this town has managed to discover or, so as we know, even inquire about, WHERE Oxy is building their new headquarters, how big it might be, who is the architect, etc etc. Has anyone heard anything?

HBJ reports today that ExxonMobil plans to build a new very large campus in Spring (west of I-45 at the point where the Hardy Toll Road intersects with I-45). The plan is to consolidate pretty much everything except for the downtown operations. Also reports a rumor that at least parts of the Refining & Marketing HQ operations may move from Virginia.

i saw this post over on city-data and thought it was interesting.. is this a sign/confirmation that Exxon is finally moving their HQ to Houston? Today, 08:55 PM LoveDontHate Junior Member befriend Join Date: Sep 2014 1 posts Reputation: 10 Quitting job because Exxon is moving Hi there, I am a mother with 3 kids. My husband works at Exxon HQ, which is in Irving, TX. Exxon is planning to move their workers to Houston, including my husband. I have lived in Irving for my whole life and I wouldn't think of moving. My husband really love his job and I don't like living in Houston because of the humidity, hurricane threats, and traffic. My kids are attending the finest school in Irving, and is Houston ISD a good school district to put my child into. I am convincing my husband to quit this job, and find another one. Should we move to houston. Or my husband quit his job and stay here?

From the HBJ, I don't have access to the whole article: "The Four Oaks Place office complex may soon be more appropriately named Five Oaks Place. The owner of the 1.8 million-square-foot office complex in the Galleria area is looking at spending between $100 million and $120 million to develop a new office building at 1550 Post Oak Blvd., where a 24 Hour Fitness is currently located" It's about to get busy in that area... Last I checked, the Skanska project has 5 tunnel connections. Also I think we should all remember that Linebeck, Skanska, and Hines are all chasing the same group of potential tenants. I think we will see one of the three go in the next year maybe two if we are lucky. Now the good news is that there is a 50ish story tower that will beat all 3 of these out of the ground.

Stopped by the site today. Awesome looking property. Had a conversation with the neighbor. It's actually two homes and some land by the bayou. The neighbor said apartments would be terrible due to the small road around that bend. The 4 acres down the street, formerly The Monaco, is owned by a Canadian guy.

3001 Main may be renovated soon for Crime Stoppers of Houston. There is a variance request set for consideration on January 23, 2014. The added security will be good for the area and there is a courtyard extension along Main Street. This should flow nicely with the Superblock Park. http://crimestoppershouston.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html "Crime Stoppers of Houston is engaged in a capital campaign to fund the purchase and the renovation of 3001 Main. Once complete, 3001 Main will be transformed into a state-of-the-art headquarters. A law enforcement strategy and call center, advanced media center, and 20,000 square feet of offices will create a hub for crime prevention now and in the future."

This one blew me away! On the front page of the Villager is an article about them imploding the relatively new 11-story Timberloch Tower. At first I thought maybe it was because Anadarko was going to move forward with it's third tower but alas the site will be prepped for reforestation. *eyes watering* Not that there's anything architectually spectacular about the building, it's still going to take away from The Woodlands skyline. The building was built in 1998 and apparently has been vacant over a year! I find it hard to believe they couldn't find a tenant to fill the building or to get somebody to buy it. I'm sad. http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/woodlands/news/article/Timberloch-Tower-in-The-Woodlands-to-be-demolished-11001852.php

The Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce’s annual Economic Outlook Forum was held Friday at Southwestern Energy’s headquarters in Springwoods Village, featuring speakers from government, business, education and technology sectors discussing what is on horizon for their respective industries. Speakers also included U.S. Rep. Ted Poe, R-Houston, and a video appearance by U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady, R-The Woodlands, who was not able to attend in person. The keynote luncheon speaker, Southwestern Energy CEO Bill Way, discussed the future of his company’s industry—natural gas. Way said the United States is the world leader in the natural gas industry. “We have an optimistic view […] The post 5 takeaways from Friday’s Economic Outlook Forum at Southwestern Energy’s headquarters appeared first on Community Impact Newspaper.
