  1. Anyone have any experience with the apartment complex in Fairfield called Alexan Sommerall located at 6777 Sommerall Drive. Thanks for your help.
  2. I noticed in an ad in our Copperfield community magazine about the new Cypress Station Grill, my family was excited about going to a new restaurant that had home style cooking. My husband, daughter, and I arrived on June 22, 2008, around 3:00pm. And we were seated very promptly. Our waitress came by to give us our drinks we ordered. When we first walked in there was a clown with a monkey; so I told her after we order we will go see it and we did. Our salads arrived (before meal) so my husband told the waitress "I am going to go get my wife and daughter there on the other side of front entrance"(which mind you we were 3 booths away) she said that was fine my husband came told us salads there I said hold on I am getting the clowns name and number and will be right there max of (3-4 min total) my husband returned to table before that time and was shocked they had cleaned off table and were getting ready toset someone else down. REMIND you he was gone no more than 3 min. and waitress was aware and said not a problem and pleanty of empty table no waiting at all. WE were upset the waitress appologized and could not believe that happened the nice ladies up at the front also could not believe that happen and the poor clown lady apologized they got the manager he finally walked over to the table they directed he to us of course he passed us up and went to the clown which we were standing right by and she said no it happened to us, so he came over NEVER introduced himself to us when only knew his name (Paul) due to Natasha the hostess (which was so sweet and kind) and we stated to him what happened well I quote " our bus boys when they see an empty table they clean it off" I was again stated we told waitress we were not gone 3 min clean forks by salad drinks full nothing touched he got right in front of me and I QUOTE said " IF YOU WOULD LISTEN TO ME THE BUS BOYS AND WAITRESS DO NOT COMMUNICATE to one another they are trained to pick up dished because customers may not like the food" at this time I was mad but I was not going to get down to his level and I felt like telling him I am not one of your employees, so do not speak to me in the manner, but his hostess and customer standing behind us along with the clown lady did hear him and all we wanted to do was pay for our drinks and get out of there and never to return again. We were not loud, disrespectful but if that is a manager and if he treats anyone else like that, that restaurant will be done in with in a short time. Every worker was so kind and felt really bad about the situation except for the manager and he finally half hearted apologized as we were leaving Tracy Houston, TX
  3. Does anyone know what this is? It's directly across from Aragon middle school, and looks to be a higher end extended stay suite of some sort. I just thought that was an odd place to build something like that.
  4. Has there been a demographic shift in the Copperfield area in the last few years? When we were looking at homes around 529 and Barker Cypress back in the mid 90s, the area was almost completely white. I was in the Wal-Mart near 529 and Hwy 6 the other day (not by choice), and I didn't see a single white person in the entire store, and there were quite a few people shopping.
  5. It's going in at the former Sony/Lowes theatre @ N. Hwy 6 & West Rd., in the Kroger plaza. It's called "Studio Movie Grill," an outfit from Dallas. They're currently hiring, due to open in May. They say they feature leather chairs and stadium seating. There are plans for a ten-week, weekday, daytime movie series for parents and kids this summer, but otherwise it's the usual "no one under 18 without an accompanying adult" movie grill thing. No telling beyond all that, but they do apparently have Nathan's Hot Dogs on the menu, so that alone might be the real treat!
  6. Had a nice time at the Studio Movie Grill, taking our 2.5 year old to see the movie "Cars". I love the concept, similar to Alamo Drafthouse. Very comfortable, easy...clean...with good food and drinks. They (Alamo DH, SMG, and Movie Tavern) typically locate in older renovated theatres, and I was worried about the picture/sound quality, however the entire facility is completely renovated, with new screens, projectors, leather seating, great sound systems, etc. Pleasantly surprised...I think I even prefer it to any of the new AMC/Cineplex stadium theatres. We'll definitely do it again.
  7. EXCLUSIVE REPORTS From the January 28, 2005 print edition Copperfield area all the Rave for theater operator Jennifer Dawson Houston Business Journal Continental Retail Development has purchased 34 acres for a multitenant retail project near the Copperfield subdivision that will include Houston's first Rave Motion Picture theater. Rave is a Dallas-based movie theater company with 18 locations that are in development or have already opened around the country. Continental Retail, which is based in Columbus, Ohio, is currently developing multiple sites for Rave. Continental Retail bought the acreage near the southwest corner of Highway 6 and West Little York last month from Houston's Canyonlands Corp. The tract is part of Canyonlands' Yorktown Crossing, a 120-acre master planned development in northwest Houston with a commercial segment called The Streets of Copperfield. Continental Retail broke ground two weeks ago on the 75,000-square-foot Rave theater, which will anchor the development. The 15-screen movie theater will feature high-back rocker chairs, four feet of legroom between each row and a game room. Films are scheduled to start rolling in the fall. Randall Tuller, president of Canyonlands, believes the state-of-the-art Rave theater will be well received because there is not another movie theater with stadium seating within 10 miles of the site. In addition to the theater, Continental Retail is developing an open-air shopping center that will have 225,000 square feet of retail space. The firm is still in the planning stages and is not ready to announce other tenants. Tuller says restaurants are showing interest in the additional retail acreage owned by Canyonlands. The developer's most recent lease was signed last September with Bubbles Express, the car wash company's first Houston location that allows customers to stay in their vehicles as they're being washed. Canyonlands executives say retail is needed in the area because in the last two years, more than 3,300 new homes have been constructed within two miles of Yorktown Crossing. Industry sources say numerous developers have tried unsuccessfully to create a large retail center at that intersection. Retail broker Cyndee Smith of Shelby/Estus Realty Group speculates that the movie theater will do well in that area, which could possibly support an entertainment-type center with restaurants. Major retail stores may be a little difficult to secure because several national retailers already have a presence a mile away at Highway 6 and FM 529, Smith says. "Highway 6 and 529 is like ground zero for Copperfield," Smith says. "All the retailers are out there." Canyonlands began developing Yorktown Crossing in 2001. The firm has developed more than 2,000 home lots and 200 acres of commercial sites in Houston over the last 14 years.
  8. The user Danax made a post recently about illegal aliens which referred to how he'd like to live in Shangri-La: i.e. a perfect place where everyone was happy. Well, I've found it! And it's right here in Houston... http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?addr=8019...0Lane&zip=77095 It's called ShangriLa lane and it's apparently near Jersey Village. Anyone who moves to that street will find that it is the paradise foretold by the ancients.
