https://www.explorationgreen.org/ https://communityimpact.com/houston/bay-area/development/2023/04/03/exploration-green-in-clear-lake-final-phase-set-for-summer-completion/ "The final phase of Exploration Green, a project to convert a Clear Lake golf course into a nature conservatory with a series of detention ponds, will be finished this summer. The Clear Lake City Water Authority, an entity that provides water, sewer and drainage services to the Clear Lake area, began the Exploration Green project in 2005. Phase 5, the final phase, was originally projected to be completed by the end of 2022 or early this year but was delayed due to weather, said John Branch, vice president of the CLCWA board of directors. “They had a lot of rain for a while, and we do give them credit for rain day work and getting on dirt when it's all wet out there,” Branch said, referring to the contractors."

Another unusual Transwestern listing. Transwestern is listing this as a 4-story office at 2151-2157 Holcombe Blvd. I couldn't locate that building on Google maps. I did notice 2151 Holcombe Blvd is the Texas Medical Center Parking Garage 8. https://transwestern.com/property/2151-2157-holcombe-blvd https://www.tmc.edu/parking/visitor-parking/ Wyatt C. Hedrick (often misspelled as Wyatt C. Hendrick)

Has anyone heard of Camp Killkare owned by John Henry Kirby. It was located on Armand Bayou (Middle Bayou), above Clear Lake. Is there any photos or history of this place. It shown on a 1929 map of the Clear Lake area. Thanks.

My apologies for posting on the same topic in two different forums, but I thought there might be people on this forum who, like me, missed the original discussion on this in the Real Estate forum. As others of you already know, GHPA added the West Mansion to their Endangered Buildings List. Links to articles and other background information have been posted here, on the other forum, but I'll include some links again here for those interested: 1/13/07 Chronicle article 10/25/06 Chronicle article 12/6/06 NYT article re Hakeem Olajuwon's real estate investments GHPA Endangered Buildings List Texas Historical Commission write-up

Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital begins expansion https://communityimpact.com/houston/bay-area/impacts/2019/12/24/houston-methodist-clear-lake-hospital-begins-expansion/

When ever some one says Clear Lake I think negative thoughts, although I don't think I have ever been there, and I have never seen pictures of it. When I think of Clear Lake I think of it as a poor area, because I know nothing about it, until I saw these pictures, and it made my mind do a 180 about thoughts of Clear Lake. Here they are: Pictures from Texasboy.

I was browsing around Houston Chronicle articles, and I found this tidbit from 1991: This isn't a huge surprise to me (I had read that there was a McDonald's inside a Sears in Michigan in the 1980s), but I'm wondering which two Sears stores in town had the Golden Arches inside. I think it would be something built in the 1980s, so I'm guessing one of the three 'brook malls, but I could be wrong? Anyone remember?

For a short period of time there was a small airport on Old Galveston Rd, across from Ellington Field. They ran commuter flights to Houston Intercontinental only, as I recall. Ring any bells?

If you travel on the southbound frontage road near the Baybrook mall, you can see all sorts of land being cleared and concrete padding being poured. This appears to be different from the mall expansion that just finished. I'm just wondering what else could be going up...

Looks like an older yacht tour company is building a 5-6 story mixed use building somewhere in the area. There's a paywall behind the article so idk if there are renderings or anything here. http://m.galvnews.com/business/buzz/article_ba8bf345-566d-5de2-ac72-c6aa3e775be7.html?mode=jqm

Didn't get much done at work today. Was busy watching the excavator take down 400 Medical Center Blvd. There has been a leasing sign out front for a long time with a rendering of the medical office building that will replace this one. nothing special though. IMAG0165 by Not.Larry.Dierker, on Flickr

We have to get our of our house, and have financing for another. It is a long story concerning a bi-polar son, and a school in our school district that neither of my children need to be subjected to. We have to get out of our house before we can sell it, and our realtor thinks that he can sell it. My problem. My house was built in 1991. It is 1780 sq. feet - two story, master down, gameroom and two bedrooms up. We HAVE to downsize. Problem is, the houses that are within the boundaries that we can afford were either built in the 60's, 70's or. at most, the early 80's. These have more problems than you can imagine from old roofs, ac's, cracked but repaired foundations, etc. We can only afford to move in - can't afford ANY maintenance for a LONG time. We thought we found one about a month ago in Meadowgreen. After inspection, the seller refused to make the repairs, so we walked away (we were just in option). I found my dream house - about $20,000 more than I want to pay. There is a nice house in Middlebrook that is pretty far away from our current home, and it is being fixed up - not flipped, because they are the original owners, and it was a rental house until they decided to sell it. It has a new roof, new ac/heat, new appliances, pergo floors and friese carpet. I love it BUT - the driveway is cracked into a million pieces, and it doesn't sound like they want to pour a new one. I think it's a MOD - you know, I never understood that - but has vaulted ceilings, and the master bedroom has these HUGE doors with no doorknobs - when you close the door, it just looks like a wall. I love this house! But my teenager doesn't care for it, and my husband hasn't seen it, and I think I'm the only one who will care for it. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks. Pap ~!~ !

I have read rumors that Costco was supposed to be built in this giant swatch of field between Lowe's and El Dorado, but that Walmart owned the property and didn't want any competition for their Sam's Club across the freeway, but I was never able to confirm how true that was. Yesterday, I was driving along Gatebrook Dr. and there was a lot of concrete going in, so I was thinking that maybe it was the fabled Costco. Does any have an idea?

Anyone remember Lafayette? Can't recall for sure if it was on BAB or Nasa1, but they had the most amazing collection of all kinds of electronic parts and gadgets. I even bought an electric guitar there once. I miss that store.
