  6. Former Ch. 13 Sports Director Bob Allen lost his battle with cancer last night at the age of 70. Your thoughts on the passing of a sports broadcasting legend: Allen spent 38 years with Ch. 13 beginning in 1974 until 2013, where he later went to KHOU-TV for the remainder of his TV sports broadcasting career. He'll be deeply missed.
  7. CBS 11 KHOU-TV Sports Director Bob Allen not only has won the battle against cancer, he's also won love as well. He's engaged to photographer Megan Cardet, who's been with Bob throughout the cancer battle & over the years. Everyone needs to wish Bob & Megan the best on their future together!
  8. KHOU-TV CBS 11 Sports Director Bob Allen has cancer & has taken an extended leave of absence as he battles the disease. The station released a press release regarding Allen's cancer fight: "Our friend & colleague, Bob Allen shares with us that he's been diagnosed with cancer. It's a form of T-Cell Lymphoma & Bob is very encouraged about his chances for recovery. When he talks about facing this challenge, Bob displays the same confidence & optimism Houston television viewers have come to expect from him over the past four decades as the city's leading sports anchor. "I'm ready for this----& I'll beat it,'" Bob says, adding that he appreciates the support & kind words coming his way. During his treatment, Bob will be taking an extended leave from his on-air work at KHOU so he can focus all his energy & attention on getting well. He'll keep us posted & we'll make sure all the people who know him, trust him, & care about him have the latest word on how he's doing. You can share your thoughts with Bob on & on our Twitter & Facebook pages, using the hashtag, #GETWELLBOB." Allen's been a fixture in Houston's sports scene since the 1970s when he joined KTRK-TV Ch. 13 (ABC) before leaving in 2013 & later going across the street to rival station, KHOU-TV CBS 11, where he's been ever since! Please send your prayers & thoughts to Bob!
