Found it! 3D/International was formed from the founders of Neuhaus + Taylor Architects, and maybe a principal from CRS too. The principals of the company Neuhaus + Taylor had merged with to form 3D/International seven men in all—left the company. Two important Neuhaus + Taylor partners left. Finally Harwood Taylor left, too. What remained was a multinational architectural and engineering company with a clear chain of command, whose three top officers are not building designers and to which first-rate design is decidedly a goal rather than the goal. In 1977 the name of the company was changed to 3D/International. Two years later, Gerald Hines built the 3D/International Tower (designed by 3D/I), a 21-story building with an expensive stainless steel and glass skin, on a choice site at the corner of San Felipe and the West Loop.

Caudill Rowlett Scott
Highrise Tower posted a topic in Architects, Developers, Builders, and Designs
I noticed we didn't have a general thread to discuss the old architecture firm Caudill Rowlett Scott, or CRS. Did one of the partners end up being involved with 3D/International? Thought I read an original Houston arch firm branched out into 3D/International. Was it Morris Architects or Morris*Aubry Architects? CRS was a cool architect firm. Their old headquarters at 1111 West Loop South still hasn't been redeveloped. I went inside just once. The 3-acre site has cool bayou, and wooded views. Just too expensive to deal with the flooding bayou. -
Does anyone recall the old Houston architecture firm called 3D/International? Any former employees by any chance? Parsons Acquires 3D/International By Cynthia H. Cho June 10, 2006 12 AM PT Parsons Corp., a Pasadena-based engineering and construction company, said it had bought 3D/International, a Houston-based company that specializes in designing and constructing schools and public buildings. “We had been looking for an entity that could fill out our skills and resources” in the educational world, said Charles Harrington, president of Parsons Commercial Technology Group, a unit with about 2,500 workers. The transaction was announced late Thursday. The price was not disclosed. Both companies are privately owned. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2006-jun-10-fi-parsons10-story.html

AECOM's Themed Entertainment Index for 2018 is now available: https://www.aecom.com/content/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Theme-Index-Museum-Index-2018-2.pdf (^Houston Museum of Natural Science attendance showed meager growth, but still dropped to 10th place amongst museums in the US, and Schlitterbahn Galveston Island remains a decently-attended regional attraction. Worldwide Observation Experiences have been added to this year's report.)

I wanted to create an appreciation thread for EYP. They've done a lot of work in the medical center and have recently designed HMH's Centennial Tower. I believe WHR Architects was merged with EYP as well. EYP has worked a lot with the Texas Medical Center AKA TMC. https://www.eypae.com/

Stopped by TMC3 today. The Collaborative Building is awesome. Seems like Elkus Manfredi Architects is emerging in the Houston market with 3 projects so far. Hopefully EMA continues to get more projects around Houston, especially in our Healthcare/Life Sciences markets. https://www.elkus-manfredi.com/

I've just herd Perkins + Will has acquired Kirksey Architecture. Has anyone else herd this rumor or have any information to validate it or invalidate it?

This video was recently posted on Construction.com. It's a tour of the Gensler office in San Francisco. I figured since Gensler has a big presence in Houston, people on HAIF would be interested in seeing it. <iframe src="http://video.construction.com/linking/index.jsp?skin=oneclip&ehv=http://construction.com/video/&fr_story=d0497d1f4effd20b7ca1e6e339077d432ec4c4e2&rf=ev&hl=true" width=402 height=306 scrolling="no" frameborder=0 marginwidth=0 marginheight=0></iframe> If you can't see the video embedded above, here's a link to the web page: http://construction.com/video/?fr_story=d0497d1f4effd20b7ca1e6e339077d432ec4c4e2&rf=bm
