  1. Looks like there are plans in the works for a 3-mile extension of Spur 5 from its existing terminus just south of UH campus. Extension would take it past I-610 down to Bellfort. Project includes 4 direct connectors between I-610 & Spur 5. Work wouldn’t start until 2025. Route won’t be redesignated as SH 35 until future extensions take it past the Beltway. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/transportation/article/Long-sought-Alvin-Freeway-could-start-with-Spur-5-13656687.php
  2. Developer says Alvin will have a 32-bed hospital by early 2023 Bill Persefield, CE and Founder of Medica Development Company announced during the Alvin-Manvel Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon last week that his company will be building a state of the art hospital in Alvin. The purchase of land, near Steele Road on Bypass 35, is expected to be completed within the next month, with a ground breaking being planned for December or January 2022. In his presentation, Persefield said that the hospital will have 32 in-patient beds, with the ability to grow to a 90 bed facility. A 24-hour emergency department/trauma center will be open year round, 24 hours a day; and there will be 10 emergency department exam beds and four operating rooms. A post-acute care facility, built at a cost of $55 million, is included. In Phase One, there will be diagnostic imaging, a pharmacy, lab, blood bank, a cath lab, and an outpatient diagnostic and treatment center. The overall cost of the hospital will be $133 million when the complex is complete, with $296 million allotted for the total development of all stages. The hospital will have two-stories and cover 88,000 square feet, with 185 parking spaces. The medical offices will be three-stories and have 340 parking spaces. There will likely be 750 jobs created during construction, he said. http://www.alvinsun.net/news/article_a908cf8a-30fd-11ec-9b36-3f5b9b458808.html
  3. The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System has an undivided 1/6 interest in 108.5 acres of flat coastal prairie land for sale in Brazoria and Galveston Counties. The property is located about six miles southeast of Alvin, north of FM 2004 and east of Halls Bayou. It is rectangular in shape and has limited access on unimproved county farm and rice field roads. https://www.utsystem.edu/offices/real-estate/property/halls-bayou-undivided-16-interest-1085-acres
  4. Anyone know about Gordon Street Tavern in Alvin? It's a rural bar, given the area, but the beer selection is amazing. Their tap wall features all craft beer! Last time I went they have Equilibrium, Ghost in The Machine, Prairie sours, Yellow Rose, and Ingenious. Worth a visit if you're ever near, or in Alvin! https://www.gordonstreettavern.com/home
  5. Hello Everyone, It is been a couple that me and my wife are trying to find a home to buyri (first time ever) , and we found it very stressful and hard:( We should make the decision in a week or so and really need your advice and helps. According to our budget and the floor plans my wife is interested in, we need to buy either from Dr Horton in Rosenberg, or Anglia homes in Alvin, TX The community we are interested in homes in Alvin is located at this address: 405 Merlot Dr, Alvin, TX 77511 and Dr Horton Community : 218 Fuchsia Drive, Rosenberg, TX 77469 With the same price, we can get a well upgraded home (tiles, Island, Larger Patio + covered patio, Extra garage insulation, Cabinets, gated community, etc.) in Alvin (Anglia Homes) while the the Rosenberg home (Dr Horton) is going to be pretty much basic. My questions is: Which one would grow better and faster in 5-6-7 years? We like the community in Alvin better, and the price is cheaper, so we would like to buy from Anglia homes but in the mean time, we are afraid if it is not going to be a good investment!!! Sorry for bad english also. Looking forward for your answers and helps! Thank you😊
  6. You might all know about the alvin Expressway that's supposed to be built. It's already in exsistence partially at 45 and The University Of Houston. It's supposed to stretch from the all the way to Alvin. It'll be the new HWY 35. It's gonna go more or less along the track that goes down Mykawa and now the current 35. The only problem is that it cuts through neighborhoods. iIf it get's built they'll certainly have to tear down people's houses. Down't see why they don't build the current HWY 35 into a freeway. No knocking down peole houses, clear chot, and they could make a conveniet junction at 45&610.

  8. This is another translator for Centro Cristiano de Vida Eterna, aka Latino Broadcasting Corporation, which filed for its license to cover on December 18th, 2015. Centro Cristiano co-owns "La Nueva 94-1" K231CN and "La Mejor 104-5" K283CH, with this latest translator in Alvin licensed to rebroadcast KTBZ-FM as its sister La Mejor currently does. The issue that has arisen, is that no one I have talked with has ever heard 105-3 on the air. I have been on the south side of Houston this past week and found nothing but a weak KXXF Winnie coming through on ch. 287. Can anyone on the south or SW side of Houston confirm a Spanish language Christian format on 105-3 FM? I believe we may have a phantom radio station amongst us...
  9. My wife saw this steel structure with a sculpture on top on CR 129 just east of SH 35 in north Alvin. Looks like it's on property belonging to one Francisco Viveros. Businesses listed at the site are F & V Painting and Global Top Soil and Landscaping Decor. Anybody seen this? Picture from Google Streetview
  10. Does anyone have any information regarding this? I can't find any information anywhere. Looks like both sides of HW 6 are being cleared for new subdivisions. It's just passed CR 147.
  11. The news announcement of this is here. It's not really clear just where this location is at yet, but it might be between the Southern Trails subdivision and Kirby Drive. If this is really the location, I'm not sure what that means for the proposed Ridge Rock subdivision that was supposed to go in there, or for the Lowe's at Kirby Crossing project. If anyone can dig up more about this, please post here.
  12. Thanks Timnwendy. Check the State of the City update that Major Reid presented last night. New High School coming next door to ST. City of Pearland

  14. That kills me there. I would totally take that route to work in the morning leaving SCR if I could get on BW8 going east quickly. But you can't. Not until after 288. There should be an on-ramp at Kirby but there isn't because of the toll plaza being "too close." The east bound entrance is just to the west of where Almeda School comes out. I'd pay the extra toll per day if I could get on BW8 right there. It would be worth it to me to avoid 2234 traffic in the morning, which is only going to get worse. And soon. The big Nolan Ryan middle school opens in the fall.

  18. Manvel is in Alvin ISD. Manvel got a new high school called "Manvel High School". In addition, the city also has Manvel Junior High School and E.C. Mason Elementary School.
  19. I think Pearland and Alvin ISD should merge. The two districts combined cover almost all of the City of Pearland, as well as Manvel, Alvin, and Iowa Colony. All areas west of 288 in north Brazoria are Alvin ISD while some areas east of 288 are Pearland ISD. The two should combine so Pearland can get a second high school close to Shadow Creek Ranch. Perhaps a new 7-8 school and a new 5-6 school can be established in that area too.
