Sad for the fire museum, but nice to see a vacant lot on Main get developed. Read more here: http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Fire-museum-plans-doused-by-lack-of-funding-4927493.php

I couldn't find anything on this and just read about it this morning. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Fire-museum-plans-doused-by-lack-of-funding-4927493.php?cmpid=btfpm#/0 That article on the Fire Museum's plans says that they are selling the land to Alexan. "Money for those improvements should come from a pending sale of the museum's planned building site, a 1.44-acre tract at Main and Hadley for apartment development. M. Scot Davis of Trammell Crow Residential said the high-end project, Alexan Midtown, will have five stories of apartments atop two l

Sign is up seeking to consolidate a number of lots into a single unrestricted reserve. Nothing up yet on the Planning Commission agenda. Looks like most of the land is owned by Pappas, but only some of it is being used as a lot for their trucks (and for HPD speed traps). I doubt Pappas would develop it into a restaurant. Looks like too much land and Pappas has mostly been expanding in the burbs recently. My guess is that the land has been sold and someone else is going to develop. It is a bit of an odd shaped parcel. Kind of skinny, but might be a backward C shape if the vacant land on

Construction fencing has gone up along the southwest corner...a pretty large expanse of land that stretches from what used to be a gas station west to past what used to be a La Quinta (that motel is still standing). I'm hearing rumblings of mixed use, similar to CityCentre. Anyone know anything about this?

OK, I'm SO not a rental apartment type of person, but the Alexan Lofts are pretty darn cool. I have a couple of friends who live there, and they seem to be high quality and very urban (unlike the new construction pseudo-lofts in other parts of downtown). Apparently, they were lofts before the management company took them over and renovated, but I'm not sure. The only major downside, apart from the lack of retail, is the proximity of the well-used train tracks. I can't imagine that those trains are quiet as they come roaring just feet from the building at all hours of the day and night. My

"The defunct Courtesy Chevrolet dealership -- which fell victim to the Katy Freeway widening project last year -- will soon become the site of hundreds of luxury apartments. The Chevrolet dealership was well known because it had an advertising jingle promoting its high-profile site -- 7777 Katy Freeway. Now, up to 400 residents could have that catchy address when the apartment complex is finished in June 2009. Trammell Crow Residential broke ground at the site on Halloween on its latest Alexan-branded apartment complex. Located on the busy freeway near Silber, the Alexan Silber will have 402

I recently noticed that a chain link fence has been erected around 1111 Post Oak Blvd. This is the very old and recently vacated apartment complex directly west of the McDonalds. Does anyone know what they are going to do with that land?
