There's a note in Bisnow about Colvill Office Properties moving ahead with Two Oak Park in Westchase, which will be great news for those of you who were fans of One Oak Park, because they're almost identical.

There was a fairly extensive article written on the potential of four new buildings in the CityWestPlace complex out along the Beltway near Westheimer. It also went into detail about how Westchase in general is really tight in terms of vacancy rates. Here are two scans from today's paper

What is happening to the area of Westheimer west of Fountainview? It seems north of Westheimer, it appears viable with lots of store-front retail and dining, but south of it it appears a bit run down with shady nightclubs and massage parlors taking over the defunct Richmond Strip... Are we looking at a future Sharpstown?

We are moving to houston and are looking at some houses in Walnut Bend. Does anyone know if the big drainage ditch that runs along the east side of the neighborhood backed into the houses on Blue Willow during Allison? Thank you, Jess Cook

Multimillion-Dollar Mixed-Use Project Set for Westchase District By Beverly Ford HOUSTON-A local developer packs residential high-rise condos and 130,000 sf of high-end retail space into a multi-building, 11.5-acre development off Beltway 8. The final layout is still being tweaked amid plans for a groundbreaking in the coming months.

Does anyone have any knowledge of future plans for high towers to be built in our Westchase area? There are just a few that stand out but the area is prime location for plenty of high rise development. This area has become another little city within itself. Seems eerily familiar to Los Angeles' Wilshire District lined up and down with major corporations and high rise living. If you know of anything, could you please place a photo so we can see how nice they will look? Thank you!

An article in the Chron today about a murder in a neighborhood south of Walnut Bend stirred a flurry of comments about crime in Walnut Bend: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5381378.html I was looking for more informed opinions. What do you think about Walnut Bend? We are looking for houses and that is one area we are considering. I have little kids so safety is certainly a concern. Thanks for any feedback.

Westchase District by Rives Taylor, AIA PROJECT Westchase District Long Range Plan CLIENT Westchase Municipal Management District ARCHITECT Powers Brown Architecture with SWA Group CONSULTANTS Robert Charles Lesser & Co. LLC (real estate); Spillette Consulting (urban development); Walter P. Moore (infractructure); Knudson & Associates (economic development) DESIGN TEAM Powers Brown Architecture: Jeffrey Brown, AIA; Baldemar Gonzalez; John Cadenhead; SWA: Scott Slaney; James Vick; Kinder Baumgardner At twice the size of downtown, the 4.2-square mile Westchase District is one of the aging "edge city fragments" from the 1970s and '80s that now compose the milieu of Houston's rapidly multiplying town center precincts. This area, fairly indistinguishable from the city's other car-centric suburbs, encompasses the typical mix of boulevard strip shopping centers, two-story apartment complexes, and mid-rise offices buildings (with more than 17.5 million square feet of commercial space). Local landowners ultimately decided to organize and consider how the west-side district's prospects could be made more attractive to re-investment. What was missing, they realized, was a distinctive identity for the district that would induce development over the next 20 years. link to full article

About 20 black SUVs parked on the divider and in front of the apartments on S. Gessner between Ella Lee and Westheimer, police vans, SWAT truck, guys in full gear with weapons at hand walking around - didn't need my espresso this morning! Drove past all this about 25 minutes ago. Nothing we can find online yet.

I was driving by yesterday and saw a sign for a 'variance' on the apartment complex at Briar Forest and Kirkwood or Briar Forest and Wilcrest. Forget which. What's going on here? Are these not one of the complexes that had so many problems after Katrina? Didn't Matress Mack want to buy them?

Residential At East Rivercrest Dr. And Westheimer Rd.
Lowbrow posted a topic in Katy and Points West
I assume I'm not the only one that is familiar with the new residential construction at westheimer and east rivercrest. A huge house, something that looks like a pool house and a basketball gym. It's right across the street from that Yao Ming Restaurant so we assumed he or his family owned it but hcad says Mike James of the Rockets is the owner. I've always loved Rivercrest, but having the property fronting Westheimer seems a shame. When they first bulldozed the trees there we thought they were putting up another bank or jiffy lube..... -

I would like to compare a few of Houston's Business districts. Particularly, Greenspoint, Westchase, Greenway Plaza, and The Medical Center. Do you think a collection of Buildings that look relatively the same in a group (Westchase, Greenspoint) appeals better then a collection of Buildings that have a but more diversity of designs (Greenway Plaza, The Medical Center)? Greenspoint - Besides a few buildings west of I-45, Greenspoint has a dark, green skyline. The green lines on the highway interchange are also touching. The wyndham hotel is easy to recognize with its sharp rectangular roof, and its a bit lighter then the rest. All of the buildings are postmodern, and it doesn't help that they have christmas lights at night. Westchase - Pretty much all of the buildings look turn of the century, light color, lots of light blue glass on a white facade. Goes will with the clean looking Toll Road. Greenway Plaza - Nicely mixed up, a few modern, a few postmodern, looks like a real skyline. The Medical Center - Mixed up too, but I think alot of the buildings' facades are light. I think the new ones going up will go nicely with everything there. your opinions?

Someone told me about something they saw on TV last night describing plans for Westchase. I found this. Pretty ambitious but they have the right vision. West Houston needs an identifiable center of energy. I really like the idea of major water features. With as much rain as we get, we have the potential to create a citywide canal network with boating as transport (float to work), shopping, eating, and strolling and flood control. Our existing bayous could be fairly "easily" converted I'm thinking.

I was at Carillon Center in Westchase on Westheimer and noticed a new restuarant/lounge that's about to open across Wolfgang Express. I looked through the windows and it appears pretty swanky and hip. Does anyone know more about it, such as what type of food will be served? Is it going to be a bar or a just a restaurant?
