  1. i think houston had a ritz for a long time, but it changed to the st. regis in the late nineties. it's over there next to the junior league off westheimer.
  2. Yesterday I stopped at the Landry's corporate headquarters located in Uptown at 1510 West Loop South. Here's some photos that I took: The fountain is very cool. It has small "cards" that match the text below. Dining * Hospitality * Entertainment * Gaming
  3. I am now living in Los Angeles, but on a recent trip to Houston, I saw the difference in retail outlets in the Galleria and even Highland Village. Both places have gotten pretty big chains and specialty stores, like Burberry, Dior, Bose, Jimmy Choo, and Luca Luca. Although most people don't care for this, since it is outside of most people's reach, I work in this industry, doing marketing for luxury brands, and I know that stores moving into a city at this pace signifies growth and confidence that the city is chic enough and diversified enough to open shop. In Houston, there have been 13 store openeings of a high caliber, those found in Rodeo Dr or 5th Ave. 10 years ago, that would have been impossible, I think that Houston is on the ap like never before. But those are just my thoughts. Though it is not the architecture phenomenon we all wish for, at least people visiting---for pleasure or business---will see the Gucci store or the Sony Style store and not feel that they are in a country town with big freeways. Not to up-play it, but this type of thing makes a difference when producers look for a city to host a show in, like the REAL WORLD or and awards show. It puts us on the cultural map. What do you guys think? Treader
  4. Doesn't look like he is flipping it. This flyer says it will be a 125-unit tower https://www.hfflp.com/GetDocument.aspx?ID=102795&FN=Midway+Walmart+Flyer.pdf&DT=1
  5. Does anyone know exactly how long the memorial park track is?
  6. Thanks to lockmat for discovering this one. A Hyatt Regency is planned, but anyone know the exact location? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=574503485955130&set=pb.453063364765810.-2207520000.1384359537.&type=3&theater

  8. New 240 unit mid-rise proposed as an addition to the Bristol Parc Condos in Uptown. https://tcw-group.com/projects/bristol-parc-high-rise/
  9. Just heard that the Monaco Condos are a no-go. Apparently, the price points were too high for the typical Houstonian who wants more space than a hi-rise can offer! I have heard that they still plan on building a hi-rise on that site but they will revamp the entire project, drop many of the amenities, and start with lower price points and fewer units (thus, most likely a much smaller building). Was told this will be about 3 years away from actually happening though. http://www.monacocondo.com/enlarge/images/new_monaco.jpg
  10. I just came across a CoH multi-family plat titled Uptown River Oaks for 3.4 acres along Briar Hollow just north of San Felipe. It's in today's planning commission agenda. According to the paperwork, it's planned for 311 units. The plat seems to include the property that the Briar Way cul-de-sac is within and the parking lot to the south.
  11. Could be lots of activity coming soon to Post Oak Park Dr. an entity dubbed Finger-EPCO Briar Hollow, LLC plans to demolish the Tree Tops at Post Oak for a new complex. SubdivisionPlatPDF_BG3482.pdf
  12. Presume you are referring to 5 Post Oak Park at 4400 Post Oak Parkway? That building is 28 stories... 389 feet tall. So, probably a little taller than Sky House will be.
  13. I don't think this Wells Fargo Bank located at 4906 San Felipe Street, shares the same parcel as the next door, infamous BancorpSouth Center? I once read on HAIF, maybe 10 years ago, that Uptown/River Oaks has a lot of banks because it's a wealthy neighborhood. Rich people visit banks more often. When will this unique, kinda small, parcel be developed into something taller?
  14. Just a passing observation about the property across the street. 3535 Sage Road has a big for sale sign advertising 8.2 acre tract of land for sale. That’s pretty big chunk of land for this area. Also just south of 3525 Sage condos. Right now there is an abandoned two story commercial bldg along with a really big ugly parking lot. Looks like plenty of development opportunities around here… keeping my fingers crossed. Need lots more lovin in this part of town!
  15. I was in Uptown the other day and saw a unique bank that's sitting on high valued real estate. Here's a photo I took the other week of the Prosperity Bank located at 1101 Post Oak Boulevard.
  16. While driving down South Wynden Drive I came across this fancy brick office building. Here's some photos I took of the building.
  17. I would suggest the Montebello, there sales office is located right across from it, in Uptown Park.
  18. The law offices of Hudson Partnership located at 35 North Wynden Drive is connected to the Blaffer family. Hudson Bros. Real Estate owns some high-value land down the street a long South Post Oak Lane. I stopped by the other month to take a photo of the street signage and building.
  19. I saw a sign that they were moving out. Does anyone know what's coming into the building?
  20. Alliantgroup (Alliant Group) Cooperate Headquarters At 3009 Post Oak Blvd. Late 2010 groundbreaking, delivering in 2012 14 stories 300,000 SF LEED Gold Directly across from Waterwall On proposed METRO Uptown line Developed, built, and self-financed by Skanska i dont know how to post the pic so here's a PDF picture, i'm sure someone much smarter than i can post it. 3009 post oak.pdf

  22. Per the linked document below, something is happening to the Holiday Inn on the east side of 610 west, just north of Richmond. Post Properties and Bury+Partners are listed as the involved parties. Are they going to demolish and build residential or convert it? From Post's website, it looks like they only have residential buildings. ftp://edrc.houstontx.gov/2013/Applications//2013-1289/SubdivisionPlatPDF_POST%20GALLERIA_PLAT_PDF.pdf HFF's website says it is still on the market. I guess they need to update it? http://www.hfflp.com/GetDocument.aspx?ID=35251&FN=%C2%B13.9+Acres+Flyer-7.31.11.pdf&DT=1
  23. A Class-B hotel in Uptown is listed for sale. It's not very tall so I wouldn't think this would be a hotel to multifamily conversion. Most likely just a rebranding. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/6221-Richmond-Ave-Houston-TX/30028758/
