  1. The Sheraton at 2400 West Loop South will be rebranded as The Chifley, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. It will host a new restaurant/ bar called "Rouse" that serves a fusion of barbecue, Mexican, and asian cuisine. New hotel website: https://thechifleyhouston.com https://houston.culturemap.com/news/city-life/07-25-22-the-chifley-houston-hotel-uptown-rouse-restaurant-bar-rooms-tapestry-collection-by-hilton/#slide=0 Set to open November, 2022. seems like most of the renovations are interior. Some before pictures 😅 I always thought Sheraton was considered semi luxurious, these pics kind of hurts hurts my eyes
  2. This week I stopped by the 1980s office building in Tanglewood located at 2000 St. James Place. Photos I took:
  3. http://tanglewoodproperty.com/5599-san-felipe/ http://i.imgur.com/zo6SvC0.jpg The proposed fitness center has been on the books for a year or two. I visit the site once a month so I keep looking. http://i.imgur.com/qw8DFMQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3NE7G5N.jpg Image credits: Tanglewood Property Group
  4. An overlooked Tanglewood/Uptown skyscraper! Photo I took this week:
  5. 2200 West Loop South: Office Building For Uptown Formally called Stewart Title Building developed by Hines Interests / Gerald Hines. https://www.cbre.com/properties/properties-for-lease/office/details/US-SMPL-27897?view=isLetting https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2200-West-Loop-South-Houston-TX/12443422/
  6. I love all these old, 1980s, office buildings in Tanglewood. Photo I took this week:
  7. This week I stopped by and took a photo of the Office Building located at 1819 St. James Place.
  8. Seems we missed this renovation. Per this report by BISNOW extensive renovations are set to finish end of summer. Looks like all these new urban core projects all of the city are setting off an arms race among the older crop of towers and office buildings. Its exciting to see because that kind of competition only means better things for us all. Its about time too because these buildings from the early to late 90's need to start updating and market pressures seeing to it that they do. Developer: Transwestern Architect: CDI Douglass Pye Inc Estimated Completion: End of Summer From BISNOW: (image of the existing building)

  10. This week I took a photo of this rarely discussed office building in Uptown.

  12. This office building in Uptown located at 777 Post Oak Boulevard is home to Old Republic Title. Here's a photo I took the other month.
  13. I have a family member visiting Houston next month. They will be staying near the Galleria. I am looking for hotel recommendations. Uptown has a bunch, and I mean alot of hotels. Which one to choose from? I was looking at the Houston Marriott West Loop By The Galleria At 1750 West Loop South. Would this be an okay choice? Thanks for the input!
  14. Be happy they have a website. The Manhatten and Empire Condos' didn't get a website until construction started and most of the units were alread sold. Randal Davis has been shown to be much more reliable than other developers. He would put that much work into a website unless he was commited to the project. This doesn't mean delays and other red tape issues won't slow it down also. The Pavilions was going to start construction this fall according to the developer, but right now they are just starting permitting and other procedures. Definite timelines are rare unless it is currently being constructed.
  15. I recently noticed that a chain link fence has been erected around 1111 Post Oak Blvd. This is the very old and recently vacated apartment complex directly west of the McDonalds. Does anyone know what they are going to do with that land?
  16. It my research of hotels, I came across the Derek. I think it is near the Galleria. Is it similar to the Hyatt Regency, size, amenities, etc? I noticed on Hotel.Com that the rates are about the same. I meant to say "in" my research of hotels. Just a typo.
  17. It is clear by now that many developers are focusing rennovating the strip of Post Oak from Westheimer to San Felipe. What about the areas between San Felipe and 610 (towards uptown Park?) The only building that fits the neighborhood is 1200 Post Oak Blvd. (apt. complex across from the McDonalds.) Everything else is old (i.e., Inverness and Winhall condos and dreadful 111 Post Oak Apts.). Those developments stick out like a sore thumb when looking at the beuaty and architecture of Uptown Park, Montebello, Villa D'este, and 1200 Post Oak, etc). Are there any plans to do massive reconstruction for those areas to better align with the rest of the proposed projects on Post Oak Blvd? Lastly, what is the "Great Room"? (the "tent" building by the Bently dealership)
  18. Brookdale Galleria is undergoing a multimillion dollar remodel. Always wondered if they would use that money to power wash the building. It was so dirty! Power washing complete. Looks much better!
  19. looks like this one flew under the radar: http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2013/12/office-building-to-replace-galleria-area-wedding-venue/?cmpid=hpts The 135,000-square-foot building will be developed at 1885 St. James Place, where the Courtyard on St. James Place now stands. The special events venue has for years hosted weddings, banquets and business functions. the new building is expected to open in early 2015. trying to hit the same niche market Hines' is having so much success with at their new San Felipe building across from River Oaks. i think it's a good call - simialr buildings in the area aimed at the ultra-high end clientele such as redstones Houstonian building and Park Laureate remain consistently well-leased with relatively high rates.
  20. Williams Tower - formerly known as Transco Tower Height: 901 feet 64 stories Circa: 1983 Architects: Johnson Burgee and Morris Aubry Facts - Then Transco Tower became Williams Tower when Transco Energy was bought out by Williams Energy Corp. in 1999 - Tallest building outside of any CBD - Rotating beacon at night on roof every 15 seconds - Williams Tower functions as two 32-floor towers stacked on top of each other, complete with separate lobbies, elevators, and garages. - South of the building is a 3-acre park with a large fountain called the "Waterwall" (aka Transco Fountain), designed by the building's architects with Richard Fitzgerald & Partners. The fountain is a stunning work of hydraulic engineering. - The top of the building features a beacon that sweeps the night sky over the Galleria area. - Construction took only 16 months, a remarkably short time for a tower of such height. 2 Pics by Patrick Benders Next four Pics by Mancuso Former
  21. The readers at HAIF seem to be some of the most informed Houstonians I come across...so I am reaching beyond the regular dialogs of downtown, midtown, development and real estate...and asking you where you have had the best Thai food in Houston? I've come to appreciate the various aspects of commentary that I value on this board...thanks!!
  22. The Junior League of Houston built a new building after moving from downtown. They occupied the building from 1965-1986. The building has since been demolished and built over with luxury apartments.
  23. Does anyone know what's going up at this intersection? There's a new sign up that says "For Lease".
