This warehouse/ previous body shop is going to be a new restaurant called Doves. It's southern inspired "vibe dinning." Its on a huge lot for just 1 restaurant. Does anyone know if/where Micro Center would be relocating if this is true? From Swamplot: http://swamplot.com/did-micro-center-just-sell-its-houston-location-to-amegy-bank/2014-02-25/ The self-proclaimed “industry insider” behind a new office-space rumor website tells Swamplot that it’s “well-known . . . amongst the tenant/landlord representative crowd” that Amegy Bank has purchased the 4.13-acre site at 1717 West Loop South just north of San Felipe that’s currently home to Houston’s only Micro Center store. The owner and would-be seller of the property, according to county tax records, is the Ohio-based parent company of the 47,800-sq.-ft. computer and electronics store, which has been operating in that location since 1994. There is only one other Micro Center location in Texas. *** “The property, which is just down the street from [Amegy Bank's] current office at Five Post Oak Park,” reports the rumor site, “is the supposed site for Amegy to build their own 10-12 story office tower. Rumblings suggest that this move is the result of a lease renewal disagreement between Amegy and their current landlord Shorenstein.” If the rumor is true, would the computer retailer be looking for another Houston location, or just close up shop here? Swamplot has contacted both Micro Center and Amegy Bank for comment. We’ll add an update if we hear anything back. http://swamplot.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/micro-center.jpg Webcam: http://www.workzonecam.com/projects/amegybank/amegybank/workzonecam Renderings: http://www.justintowart.com/wp-content/uploads/Towart-Work13-Arch-Illustration-6.jpghttp://www.justintowart.com/wp-content/uploads/Towart-Work13-Arch-Illustration-7.jpg http://swamplot.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/amegy-tower-rendering.jpg

https://protecttanglewood.com/updates/ Location The Watermark Tanglewood (1661 Tanglewood Blvd.) Watermark Retirement Communities recently mailed a selective announcement to property owners in the area of a proposed 20 story, 62-year and older luxury community along with a marketing survey and invitation to a focus group study. The proposed site is owned by WMJK Ltd. The THA Board is still trying to gather information and understand if any alternative options might be available, such as potentially raising capital for private purchase of the property and converting it to a green space. It appears Watermark is currently in the due diligence and marketing phase for this development. Further communication will be forwarded as facts are obtained. Anyone interested in attending the Planning Seminar/Focus Group on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 may call the market survey company ProMatura at 800-201-1483.

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/Lennar-s-apartment-division-buys-Galleria-area-13841951.php Conflicting account of where exactly the site is located: The Gables project is SOUTH of the parcel that's on the corner of Westcreek/San Felipe and across from Arabella. Based on HCAD it appears that the lot is in fact on the corner of Westcreek/San Felipe. See Parcel A (BELOW)

Did the Westcreek color-coded parcel master plan include these apartments for redevelopment? The apartments are located at 2350 Westcreek Lane. Looks like a fairly new complex. Built in the 1990's? Maybe in 20 years they will be replaced with a high-rise? https://theparkatwestcreek.net/

I am trying to find out who the original architects of the Park Towers office buildings were. They are located at 1233 and 1333 West Loop South. Orignially they were a brick type facade with arched windows but some time ago the buildings were gutted and totally remodeled into the glass towers you see today. I would like to find the original architect's identity as I have heard stories it was designed by a friend's father who passed away just as the buildings were being completed and so far I have reached a dead end on the research. Inquiries I made to Kirksey Co. who did the remodel went unanswered. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

15-Story Tower on Bancroft Lane and Bettis Drive. https://highland-tower.com/index.html Just drove by the property for the first time in a month or two and I noticed that there were "dirty barriers" up and seems like quite a bit of it was dug up. No other evidence of construction, though.

From the Houston Today book, comes another architectural masterpiece that is sadly last to time, as it no longer seems to exist. Anyone have more information on this? It certainly looks pretty cool...

Driving along 610 North this morning, I noticed that the Drury Inn along the feeder road looked different. In fact, it looked noticeably better. It appears that they made some quiet renovations over the past few months: new exterior design that, while nothing amazing, is a welcome change from the previous, dated look, new signage near the road, and new exterior lighting. Not a huge story, but it's an indicator that businesses in the area are taking steps to update as Uptown grows.

Villa D'Estes are also "respectable" buildings, but certainly not striking. Seems as though the approach for uptown park was very "classic conservatism". I can accept that.

I noticed in the Houston Business Journal that the Intercontinental Hotel on the West Loop near Westheimer was going to change to a Royal Sonesta. I am not familiar with this brand. Is this an upgrade or a downgrade from the Intercontintal? http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2012/05/intercontinental-hotel-changes-brand.html Another hotel I have been meaning to ask about for a long time is the old Holiday Inn that was on the northbound West Loop between Richmond and Westheimer. It closed a while back and the branding went away to be replaced by small vinyl sign above the door reading Hotel 31. Is this hotel even open? And it seems like it's in a fairly decent location - literally minutes to the Galleria - why hasn't something better happened to this building considering all the other Galleria-area activity?

I'll be careful how I describe this location as there are SO MANY banks in this area that it gets confusing (and a bit hysterical). This is along the north side of San Felipe and just east of Garrettson Lane (I got the address by clicking "What is here?" on google maps [to no avail], so it may be inaccurate). Uptown Oaks: 34-Story Senior Living High-Rise At 4718 San Felipe St. Anyway, chain link fence around the site, digging in the back away from San Felipe... it kind of looks like utility work, but I didn't have my binoculars when I was in Panera. The bank has been closed for the past three years... anyone know what's going on?
