I believe there were two locations of the brother duo "2-K Sandwich Shop" that also did catering and had wonderful dessert. Their last name, or maybe their first name, started with a "K" that's why their restaurant was called "2-K". Back in the 1950's they had a location in Midtown at 4006 South Main Street. They also had a (first?) location in Downtown at Walker St. At San Jacinto St. I believe that was in the 1940s though.

I heard talk about club located inside of an old South Main motel called Roadrunner Motor Inn located at 8500 South Main Street. The club would have been active in the 1970s, the club was called "Coyote Club", which went a long with the motel's name of Roadrunner. Clever naming for the club! I am trying to figure out what type of club it was exactly. Was it a dinner (or supper) club? Or was it a dancing club? Or possibly it was a drinking club? Did anyone on HAIF ever go here?

I remember Meyer Speedway, I was just mentioning it to someone the other day but couldn't remember what it was called! It was right next door to Butler Stadium (which is still there). We lived on W. Aiport and could hear the sound of the cars racing, so we actually went over and sat in the stands and watched a few times. This was probably around 1965-66 or so. My feeble memory says it was free to watch but there may have been a small charge.
