The newest Texas Medical Center Parking Garage (that is freestanding) is now officially listed on TMC's Visitor Parking Brochure! Such a beautiful building. Elkus Manfredi really did excellent work here. For reference, the Texas Medical Center Garages 23 and 25 are in the basement of their respective buildings. The newest TMC map: https://www.tmc.edu/parking/visitor-parking/#MapGuideDownloads Photo of the garage that I took today:

I was wondering if anyone could help me here. I have a physical document in front of me from the Texas Medical Center that omits Garage 13 from the official list of garages. What's going on here? Is this the same how elevators skip the 13th floor? Very bizarre. TMC Garage 12 was built in 1991 and TMC Garage 14 was built in 1994. If there was a garage built, it would have been between 1991 and 1994. Does anyone know anything about this? Usually, if the garage is private, for medical staff only, they would indicate as such. Maybe HAIF can play a discovery game where the objective is to try and find the missing garage.

I was wondering if anyone could help me here. I have a physical document in front of me from the Texas Medical Center that indicates the Texas Medical Center Parking Garage 9 was built in 1988 with a parking space capacity of 200. It was under the title of Operating Agreement through 2088(d). In 2024, there is 64 years left under the operating agreement. However, I can't seem to locate the garage! Not through physically being in the medical center, or through online TMC parking maps. Was this garage demolished for a new building? Or being in Houston, demolished for a surface parking lot? Another idea is the garage is now private, for medical staff only, so it's not advertised to the public. Lastly, this garage could be underground, in the basement, of a hospital so it's harder to find.

Interesting to note, the Texas Medical Center Parking Garage 11 located at 1102 Bates Avenue is contract-only. This isn't a public garage. I do wonder if a patient could apply for a monthly parking pass, just as an employee of the TMC would. The building/street signage is kind of hidden. I believe it's not well displayed because it's a private garage. Photos I took over the weekend:

Another parking garage supporting the MD Anderson Main Building and the Houston Methodist Inpatient campus. The Texas Medical Center Parking Garage 6 is located At 1329 Moursund Street. Today I stopped by to take a few quick photos. The building is a little basic. Regular old pre-cast garage. The TMC skyline on the graphics on the pay stations is awesome! How I miss those two hypodermic needles a long Fannin Street.

I visit the Texas Medical Center Parking Garage 7 located at 1120 John Freeman Boulevard once a week. It's actually a very nice garage and was recently being re-painted this past month. Sometimes I feel like the garage isn't big enough and needs to double its capacity. On a busy day, the garage is 90% full and the only parking spaces remaining is on the top floor. Let's build more!! I thought the TMC parking rates went up, but I don't mind paying the $5. Sometimes I get out in under 15 minutes and its free! The parking ticket system is amazing. LAZ Parking and the TMC built some really nice parking stations. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, they switched to contactless. You just wave your hand in front of the screen and you will get a ticket. Photos I took today: For once, the TMC skyline is portrayed. Love the graphics!

The Texas Medical Center Garage 5 located at 1001 Holcombe Boulevard has a unique, curvy in parts, design. It looks like a 1950s MOD to me! I wonder the architect? Today I stopped by to take a quick picture. The curvy part is facing the MD Anderson Main Campus. Looks like I got the rear of the building.

Today I stopped by the Texas Medical Center Garage 17 located at 1653 South Braeswood Boulevard. Interesting enough, the garage has a sky bridge to the MD Anderson Jesse H. Jones Rotary House International Hotel. I wonder if MDA leases apart of it from the TMC? Maybe a few of the top floors are allocated to MDACC. Photos I took today:

The Texas Children's Hospital Abercrombie building was named after James Smith Abercrombie. Today I stopped by to snap a picture of the building. Edit: Wrong building! Will replace image with correct building shortly. Thanks. Edit 2: New pictures added!

Another unusual Transwestern listing. Transwestern is listing this as a 4-story office at 2151-2157 Holcombe Blvd. I couldn't locate that building on Google maps. I did notice 2151 Holcombe Blvd is the Texas Medical Center Parking Garage 8. https://transwestern.com/property/2151-2157-holcombe-blvd https://www.tmc.edu/parking/visitor-parking/ Wyatt C. Transwestern is listing three unusual TMC sites. Seems kind of thrown together. The listings do not include pictures or property fliers. Can an outsider really lease part of the garage? Wonder what the deals is? https://transwestern.com/property/tmc-garage-1 TMC Garage 1 is located at 6519 Fannin St. across from The Westin and The Marriott Hotels. Edit: The garage is for sale?

Med Center Crowne Plaza to turn out lights Mary Ann Azevedo Houston Business Journal After more than three decades in operation, the Crowne Plaza Hotel Houston-Medical Center will close its doors next month. The closing comes on the heels of last month's purchase of the property -- located at 6701 Main St. -- by Baylor College of Medicine. The Crowne Plaza will permanently close its doors on Dec. 18, according to the hotel's Web site and Baylor officials. The property is one of three Main Street tracts that Baylor purchased from Houston-based The Redstone Cos. in a transaction that closed on Oct. 11, according to Baylor spokeswoman Lori Williams. The medical institution has also purchased a 74,000-square-foot tract that currently houses a Wells Fargo bank, as well as a 67,000-square-foot vacant tract across the street at Main and Southgate. Neighborhood protest delays TMC parking garage project Jenna Colley The Texas Medical Center may have to invoke its rarely used power of eminent domain to build a parking garage. Protests from residents have delayed a Houston Planning Commission decision allowing the TMC to construct a 500-space multilevel parking garage. The proposed project site is a tract owned by the medical institution in the 65-year-old deed-restricted neighborhood of Central City. Link to the article.

Texas Medical Center Commons provides oasis for staff, visitors Thora Qaddumi Houston Business Journal Work began this week on a new phase of the building that has become the cornerstone of the Texas Medical Center -- the John P. McGovern Texas Medical Center Commons. Over the next five months, an enclosed skyway connecting the Commons with the newly completed M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center will be built, and the McGovern Gardens, a landscaped outdoor dining area, will take form.
