  1. Somewhat confused. There are a couple of FAA filings. One is for an '80, 4-story MOB Archive Search Results Form 7460-1 for ASN 2021-ASW-5631-OE (faa.gov) Another is for a structure, not noted as a garage nor crane tied to the same project and timeline but '152 Proposed Case for TX: 2021-ASW-6823-OE (faa.gov) Hadn't seen a mention of a new MOB at the Greater Heights campus from anything previously. Timeline appears to be December of this year to January 2023 in either case. Based on the maps, it looks like it should be on the west side of the complex.
  2. Doing of my "look at something in Google Earth and discover something else" excursions that I do on a far too regular basis, I found what appeared to be a golf course just east of the Sears store there. It was roughly bordered by North Shepherd (west), the railroad (south), Crosstimbers/Westcross (north), and the homes west of Yale (east). By the late 1970s it was demolished for a series of warehouses with railroad spurs, which it is today, though the spurs are not active anymore. Does anyone know what this golf course was? I tried to do searches on it to no avail.
  3. Is this site going to be redeveloped? It was on the planning commission agenda today.
  4. There use to be an old corner store on the corner of 16th St. and Rutland. it was there in the 60's for srue up until the early to mid 80's. Does anyone remember the name of it? https://www.google.com/maps/@29.7997751,-95.4013851,3a,41y,219.03h,100.21t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1s9jE2WKv4b7KfPEj_G9FTxg!2e0!5s20071101T000000!7i3328!8i1664
  5. Noticed a demolition permit with apartment complex noted.
  6. Wolf Capital Partners is redeveloping 742 E 20th St. Looks like they are keeping the existing structure, but only the barber shop will stay. No renderings. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/Wolf-Capital-launches-redevelopment-of-Heights-15897352.php#photo-20533790 https://www.dropbox.com/s/somfmaw7qqn152x/Wolf Capital Partners - 742 E 20th.pdf?dl=0&fbclid=IwAR0N-a1zOkoxkj7B-GdSzShSy-9QYl69jRotk8qBWuAo2-4h-IhJ9pV_Czk

  8. What was once a gas station, then a bus stop/transit station, will now, hopefully, become a park! https://www.chron.com/news/politics/houston/article/Houston-to-buy-Heights-Transit-Center-convert-it-12833013.php
  9. Kelsey-Seybold Announces New Clinic Location to Open on 610 North Loop Freeway https://www.kelsey-seybold.com/newsroom/kelsey-seybold-announces-new-clinic-location-greater-heights HOUSTON (May 25, 2021) – Kelsey-Seybold Clinic announced plans today to build a new 22,000-square-foot clinic on the 610 North Loop, near the intersection with U.S. Highway 290. Kelsey-Seybold – Greater Heights represents another significant investment by the clinic in the Houston community and the sixth new location to open in 2021. 10. My wife and I were going to check out this school for our 19 month old daughter and was wondering if anyone knows about the school. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

  12. Healing Waters Church (11th and Harvard) is now gone. I looked up the sale transactions on the County Clerk's site. There was a total of five lots owned by the church. They sold lot 5 and half of lot 4 to individuals, and it's subject to a $1.4 million loan, presumably for construction and lot purchase. The remaining property was sold to Harvard Heights, LP, subject to a $2.2 million loan. The lots do not appear to be part of the Historic District, so the new owners can do as they wish, presumably. I haven't driven by the house being built on the South end, but it looks pretty large from 11th. Any ideas on what's going to be built on the other lots?
  13. My mother in law recently moved to the Heights area and I'm trying to help her find a new church home. She's a senior citizen and I'm looking for a church for her that has an active senior's group that goes on trips, goes out to eat together, etc. She's open to just about any religion except Catholic. We've tried a few already and the congregations seemed really small. We were looking for a mid-size congregation for her. Small enough for her to get involved but large enough that she can find a variety of friends. Thanks for any recommendations.
  14. Good Afternoon , hope your day goes well ! Anyone heard of any development where a conv store was located Mr. M ? Also out of curiosity did Reagan High just get a make over or did the school expand onto 13 1/2 ? Just wondering why the development for that school ? thank you "make it a great day"
  15. http://www.click2houston.com/news/firefighters-respond-to-church-fire-in-the-heights/25175890 That is why the helicopter is hovering over the neighborhood. Hopefully everyone is safe and the fire can be contained. But the pictures do not look good.
  16. Does anybody live in this area and have any opinions on the crime, traffic, etc? I'm looking at Rice Military/Cottage Grove area and really like it because of the proximity to Memorial Park and Washington Ave. I originally intended to get as close to Memorial Park as possible, but am interested in a property that is between Shepherd and Studemont, north of Washington, nearby West End Park. This area does seem quite a bit more sketchy than the areas West of Shepherd, but it should be cleaned up in a few years. I drove by West End Park at night the other day and did notice what seemed to be either bums or crack dealers, that is making me have second thoughts. Anybody here live by West End Park off of Patterson?
  17. Hello! We are moving to the Heights from the Cypress area and were wondering if HISD Magnet Schools are near? I've Googled Hogg and Hamilton Middle Schools. Does anyone here have any reviews or opinions on these two schools? Or recommendations nearby? How about Frank Black Middle School? Thanks for your time
  18. Church Belltower Heights, originally uploaded by mata-leão. Not sure where this is, but mata-leãlo shot this church belltower. This photo is part of the HAIF photo pool on Flickr. 19. Hey HAIF, As much as it pains me to do this; my mid century mod is hitting the market due to my job relocating. I spent years looking for this house and hoping to have it end up in the hands of someone who appreciate the architecture and home as much as I do. It's in Oak Forest, 3 bed, 2 baths, about 2300 sq feet on a huge corner lot. Some pictures are below and the house will be open on July 23rd and 24th from 2 - 4 PM. If you love Mod architecture would love to have you come out. The address is 2103 De Milo, Houston Texas 77018 Any questions send me a PM or can email directly at christopher.fisher at gmail.com http://i53.tinypic.com/mhzic4.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/k0msfk.jpg http://i51.tinypic.com/vqkyoo.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/2ug1e12.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/xcr8fo.jpg http://i55.tinypic.com/2lbz8g2.jpg
  20. A few months back, I posted that I had heard rumors from my neighbor that this school was being bought by a private school. As of the past couple weeks, the "For Sale" sign has come down, and the school is seemingly being remodeled. There were workers in there over the weekend, and new fences and (young kids) playground equipment is being installed. Does anyone know what school this may become? Private? Public?
  21. Anyone know what's with the current rash of choppers whirling overhead? Apparently there's been an incident (rumor - attempted murder) over at Travis Elementary so both Travis and Harvard Elementary are on lockdown.
  22. Anybody else having service issues with mail delivery in the Heights? My mail is chronically delivered to neighbors and a package I ordered weeks ago is no where to be found. God only knows what else I'm missing. I've gotten other people's mail and have written "not at this address" on the outside of the envelope and our USPS person puts it back in my mailbox! Complaints about delivery issues have been file. If it was an occasional issue, it wouldn't be so annoying.
  23. http://www.iihs.org/laws/cellphonelaws.aspx There is now a ban on Texas drivers from calling, using or texting on a cell phone in school crossing zones (effective 09/01/09). I am sure more publicity will be coming soon. http://www.drivinglaws.org/2008.php#Texas Texas - House Bill 55 - Provides that an operator may not use a wireless communication device while operating a motor vehicle within a school crossing zone unless the wireless communication device is used with a hands-free device.
