Looks like Lovett is surprisingly remodeling, and not tearing down, an old warehouse near washington, on Sawyer/Edwards, right along the railroad tracks. http://www.lovettcommercial.com/Detail.aspx?idwebarea=36&webid=159 Im sure it's not news to many, but it now looks like the are actually doing some construction there. Anyone have any pictures or know any additional info such as possible tenants?

Went to Shade for New Year's Eve dinner and noticed a Thai Spice sign on the corner of 19th and Nicholson across from Collina's. I have never eaten there, does anyone have an opinion?

This thread was originally created March 15, 2017. I'm reposting / reupping this because this post and other content from me are no longer available on the forum. An archive link to this thread is coming. The 1500 block of N Shepherd is being converted into a new development. The map for Bungalows on 22nd St shows the entire 1500 block of North Shepherd as development called Market at Houston Heights. The properties are between W 16th St and W 15th St, across the street from Wooster's Annex and Heights Bier Garten. The site plan depicts three restaurants and a retail space.

The new strip center across from the Walmart site had their disco lights on this past Saturday night - the two tall colums in the structure that look like design elements are really lighted columns. Not sure what their plans are on using these lights. Has anyone else seen them on? Thoughts?

Plumbing demo permit, I'm sure the building demo permit will be next. One of the many casualties of Covid that forced it to shut down. I believe I have seen some plats for a children's school for the area and this might be the location.

There is a request for a variance pending before the planning commission for Oct 2 for the Freedman's distributor site on Waverly and W 6th down below the bike path. 8.65 acres. Seeking a building line variance from 25 feet to 10 feet. No indication what, if anything, is planned for the property. Freedam's looks to have been bought out by Grocer's Supply. The latter also has been consolidating operations into a new space in the 1st ward. No idea whether they are going to sell, are selling or have sold or whether they will redevelop the property with modern warehouse space.

"10 and Heights isn’t the only development soon to be a destination in the Heights. The upcoming Durham Row, which will be located at 1239 N. Durham Dr. between West 13th Street and West 12th Street, is owned by Brinker/Sloan Properties and The Blue Ox Group is also its leasing agent. Jacobs said 10 and Heights will have a variety of tenants like office spaces, medical offices, fitness-related businesses and other tenants that make the most sense for the property. “Durham Row is a great property,” Jacobs said. “The vision is to build something more restaurant-centric. The vision is to fill the whole thing with restaurants. We have the ability to do that because of parking space.”" Full article here: https://www.theleadernews.com/real_estate/two-new-developments-coming-to-heights/article_7ff28270-05f2-11ec-8fbc-dfcf7cd221a1.html Renderings here: https://www.crexi.com/lease/properties/312142/texas-durham-row

In 1892, Agnes Perry told Kezia Payne DePelchin she could use her home as a Faith Home for the unfortunate children and orphans. This is where it all began! DePelchin Children's Center is still operating today, some 132-years after the founding. Photos of the historic mansion/house.

My friend is finally putting Party Boy on the market for $10,500,000. Quite a sizable lot in a good developing area. We'll have to see what comes of this.

This site will be redeveloped into a more-urban retail center. Sears will move out to a temporary location until the completion. Also includes residential; the rendering on page 5 may be one of the project. http://issuu.com/weingartenrealty/docs/sears_vision_book-print

There are CBRE signs up at the Bethel Church at 1107 Shepherd, or the block bounded by Shepherd, Durham, Center and Nett. This might create difficulty for the restaurant formerly known as Floyd's, since they use the church parking lot for their customers. http://www.chron.com/business/real-estate/article/Heights-area-farmers-market-in-deal-to-be-sold-11112989.php I had heard talk that some prospective buyers were looking at closing down the market and putting in housing or retail. So, this is good news. But it will be very tricky to balance the old and the new. If you push to hard to upgrade, all the vendors will bolt and set up shop at a flea market north of 610. If you do not do enough, any new vendors will have trouble surviving. It would be nice to see Airline Seafood comeback and have a seafood counter integrated into the market.

Just noticed last night that Chippendale Eastlake Antiques on the corner of 19th and Rutland is gone - space has been cleared out and there is a for lease sign on the front of the building. Anyone know what happened to them? Gone out of business, moved elsewhere, untenable rent increase, or something else? They seemed like a fixture in that spot, and had been there as long as I've been living in the area. I don't think Braun will have much trouble leasing the space, as something that size in the center of activity on 19th doesn't become available very often.

I see a crane I have to stop and ask questions. Talked with one of the crew members about what they were building. He said it will be a battery substation that will supplement the other substation during power outages and stabilize it at other times.
