  2. "Arriving in 2024, XSpace - which has an established location in Austin—is coming to the Houston Design District. The concept is under construction at 7022 Old Katy Road, Houston, and bills itself as a modern take on commercial and storage spaces. Unlike traditional coworking and storage spaces, XSpace customers can own their units outright." https://communityimpact.com/houston/heights-river-oaks-montrose/development/2023/02/02/xspace-to-bring-futuristic-commercial-condo-spaces-to-houston-design-district-in-2024/

  4. Friend said she saw a sign out front today that said "Going out of Business. Ladies Only". Anyone know what's going on there?
  5. Looks like Lovett is surprisingly remodeling, and not tearing down, an old warehouse near washington, on Sawyer/Edwards, right along the railroad tracks. http://www.lovettcommercial.com/Detail.aspx?idwebarea=36&webid=159 Im sure it's not news to many, but it now looks like the are actually doing some construction there. Anyone have any pictures or know any additional info such as possible tenants?

  10. First of all, I'm not being "let's demolish everything that helps po folk" guy. This is a genuine inquiry. How do Label Warehouse and Sand Dollar stay in business? I imagine the tax rate on those places is insane, and while I do see people shop there, I can't imagine it's enough revenue to cover (letter alone profit). Is there some sort of subsidy or tax shelter for businesses like these? Has no one thought this would be a good indie movie theatre or retail spot? Just curious.
  11. With the demolition of the white house on the NE corner of Ashland and 20th imminent, swamplot notes that permit records indicate a hotel may be built on this site. The city's permitting site indicates that a parking review was submitted on 30Nov. The land is currently owned by an entity called Wood Lane Partners, Ltd., whose registered agent is Robert Ackerley, one of the founders of NF Smith, a sizeable privately held electronics parts distributor. Robert Ackerley also appears to be in the pecan business.
  12. Looks like Broadstone purchased some more land for another apartment project in the greater Heights. Taking a wild stab that it might be this lot currently being used for a heavy equipment storage based simply on the shape of the lot and the shape of the new plat.
  13. This thread was originally created March 18, 2017. I'm reposting / reupping this because this post and other content from me are no longer available on the forum due to a mod removing my account and its content in "error" (supposedly). The information may be outdated or no longer relevant, but reupping provides an archive to what was posted. It also provides a place to post future updates about this property if and when it's redeveloped An archive link of the thread before its deletion is coming. Note to mods (though it will probably be ignored as my other public requests on this same topic were): please don't move this to the Heights forum where all of my Washington Corridor posts were moved to. Mods, also don't sneak and move this thread and all the others for Washington Corridor, Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, and Independence Heights to the Heights forum once all the previous content is reposted as y'all have done in the last month and continue to do. This is NOT in the Heights and it's not part of the Greater Heights area in any way. This is in the Washington Corridor area, an area that as suggested and advocated for previously needs its own forum because there is lots of development happening here, much spurred by the Sawyer Yards and Buffalo Heights developments. That in itself usually merits the creation for a new neighborhood forum. Until then, posts for those neighborhoods should remain in the forum for "Other Neighbohoods" has is done with other threads that don't have a dedicated neighborhood or area of town forum.Thanks. Last year, Houston Business Journal had an article about renovations coming to 1919 Washington Avenue. The renovation is a joint venture between Baker Katz and Braun Enterprises. Do anyone know more about this? From HBJ: The developer (Braun Enterprises) also closed on a historic building at 1919 Washington Ave. in a joint venture with Houston's Baker Katz earlier this week, too. The owners will renovate the building, which is home to Julep, a popular cocktail bar and Gulf Coast seafood eatery, before any additional tenants move in. The property contains 17,000 square feet of commercial space, of which 12,905 square feet is available. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2016/09/23/exclusive-fast-growing-retail-developer-scoops-up.html

  16. By Matt Dulin | 2:36 PM Apr 9, 2021 CDT | Updated 2:36 PM Apr 9, 2021 CDT A Houston homebuilder is planning to bring as many as 87 townhomes to a former Union Pacific property in the Washington Avenue corridor. Billed as White Oak Station, the development is a project by the builder City Choice Homes and Happen Houston, the broker for the property, which has similar projects across the Houston area. "It is super preliminary at this point, but we'll be looking to bring a high-end product tailored to the area," said Michael Afshari, an adviser with Happen Houston. White Oak Station will likely offer designs and finishes similar to those from its Heights-area Park at Northwood development, which is in the process of building out, he said. The site is currently up for consideration for a subdivision replat by the Houston Planning Commission, which deferred a decision on the application April 1 for two weeks to allow for further review. The 4.5-acre property sits at the southwest corner of Hicks and Studemont Streets, putting it near the Lower Heights development and adjacent to two multifamily communities, CoOp at Summer Street and Broadstone Summer Street. https://communityimpact.com/houston/heights-river-oaks-montrose/development/2021/04/08/townhome-development-proposed-near-washington-avenue/?type=article&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=newsletter_article Edit: This is the place that I've been taking pics of on Hicks St. I didn't know what was going on but suspected that Union Pacific was probably removing the train tracks for possible sale and then I found this in Community Impact website.
