  1. Heard from a 2nd person today that TCH will be building a new tower on Main. This will be located across from the two Mediatar developments. Edit: The address could be 6600 South Main St.
  2. The different buildings a long Fannin Street are a little hard to tell apart. The area is so dense that all the buildings just blend right in together. Looking at the engravement in the brick in the front of the building, this is the Houston Methodist The Roy And Lillie Cullen Eye Institute located at 6565 Fannin Street. Established and built in 1971, with the donation gift of the Cullen family. Here are two photos of the building I took last weekend:
  3. Another Memorial Hermann hospital that isn't well known (in the architecture world) is the Jones Pavilion named after Jesse H. Jones. Kind of a brutalist design, not much to it. It does feel imposing, it's a large building. Here is a photo I took yesterday. It's the tower.
  4. I actually did not know the original 1925 Hermann Hospital is still standing. The building is covered up, or hidden, by the Heart & Vascular Institute. Last week, I tried to take a photo of the building but I couldn't see it at the time. Original, from the 1920s: 2024, satellite view:
  5. The MD Anderson Clinical Research Building At 6767 Bertner Avenue has a very distinct topping on the roof. I've been looking at the copper? features for years and never knew the name of the building. Today I finally figured out the building's name. I wonder what they're for? Also, what's the small building in front? I would assume a garage, but I believe it's a supportive plant for the building?
  6. Built in the 1960s, and designed by MacKie and Kamrath, the dental school was now named University of Texas Dental School and was located in Texas Medical Center. Here's a few photos of the building upon demolition. It was a sad demolition to watch!
  7. The library bulding has 3 different names. Orignally called the Jesse H. Jones Library. Took these photos this past week. The street signage and building signage still has Jesse H. Jones name. It's currently called the Texas Medical Center Library though.
  8. Couldn't find anything about this. IMG_0723 by Not.Larry.Dierker, on Flickr IMG_0724 by Not.Larry.Dierker, on Flickr IMG_0722 by Not.Larry.Dierker, on Flickr IMG_0721 by Not.Larry.Dierker, on Flickr
  9. http://www.mhcenturyproject.org/ Check out this great website for all of the new construction that Memorial Hermann has on books.
  10. I was reading the history of TIRR and looked closer into their buildings. Here is the TIRR Memorial Hermann Research Center located at 1333 Moursund Street Took this photo a few weeks back and just now posting the picture.
  11. The MD Anderson Charles A. LeMaistre Clinic located at 1515 Holcombe Blvd is a hidden gem. The building is one of the very first! Here is a photo I took today.
  12. EYP, now Page Southern Page, designed the MD Anderson Braeswood Garage located at 976 South Braeswood Blvd. Edit: Here's a photo of the garage that I took today.
  13. Announced in the Houston Business Journal Today: http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2014/11/texas-childrens-hospital-to-expand-tower-in-the.html This should nicely add to the Medical Center skyline. I hope they keep with the practice of having lighting features as many of the taller structures in the TMC do.
  14. A lesser known MDA building is the Margaret and Ben Love Clinic located at 1515 Holcombe Boulevard. Here's a photo I took today.
  15. The UTHealth School of Dentistry has been around for almost 130 years. Their newest building is located at 7500 Cambridge Street. Photo I took today:
  16. A small building in the Memorial Hermann campus is called Mischer Neuroscience Institute located at 6411 Fannin Street. A photo of the building I took today:
  17. The Texas Medical Center Garage 4 is located at 1420 Cambridge Street. I was in the medical center taking photos today and snapped a picture of the garage.
  18. The Texas Medical Center Garage 10 is located at 6700 MD Anderson Boulevard. Here's a photo I took today:
  19. The MD Anderson Lutheran Pavilion is an iconic building in the main area of the MD Anderson patient campus. Photo I took today:
  20. Named after Ross Sterling, the Memorial Hermann Infrastructure Building and Garage is located at 1400 Ross Sterling Avenue. I took a photo of the building this afternoon.
  21. A little not well known building rarely gets talked about. This building is the MD Anderson R. Lee Clark Clinic at 1515 Holcombe Boulvevard. Photo I took today:
  22. The historic CHI St. Luke's/Baylor St. Luke's Hospital Tower has been around for decades. The building is located at 6720 Berter Avenue. The views from this building are great. A family member was treated for cancer here. Here's a picture of the building I took today.
  23. Designed by FKP Architects, the MD Anderson George And Cynthia Mitchell Research Building is a power house. Located at 6767 Bertner Avenue, the building was named after George Mitchell. Photo I took today:
  24. Very cool building here. The US Government funded the construction of the Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital Nutritional Research Center located at 1100 Bates Avenue. Designed by 3D International and Bernard Johnson. Here's a picture of the building I took today.
