  4. I was watching the State of Texas Medical Center 2018 today. William McKeon was speaking about Methodists' new Walter Tower hospital on Bertner. While speaking about the new tower, he mentioned the Mary Gibbs Jones Building. He said that's next on the list. That will be gone soon, and another amazing tower will go next to it.
  5. Somebody asked about this land a few weeks back. Figured I'd make the thread. Has this been covered already? Please merge if so. Looks like the last work was done by Envirocraze, LLC out of Kingwood. https://envirocraze.com/

  14. This could be worthy of a new topic, but regardless I found out what the 2nd midrise will be... There's an ugly, overgrown lot at North Braeswood & Main (east side of Main) that I walk by almost daily on my way to the trails - they've been using it as a staging ground for the re-surfacing on Main, and I noticed there was no longer a for sale sign. "AHC South Main LLC" closed on the property on 5/19/16. I couldn't figure out what exactly that was but a managing director for Allen Harrison Co. (AHC) signed one of the documents. I'm not sure if this will be deleted, but I was able to read the article Urbannizer referenced from March without a subscription (just had to put in my email): I kept reading that as 7 stories, but sounds like it will actually be 11 floors total Edit: Sorry, that's just 1 of 2 midrises. The other will be a 5-story complex on 3 acres in the Heights (per the article)
  15. Hotel boom on the way for the TMC! http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2015/12/hotel-planned-for-texas-medical-center-area.html Houston-based Medical Center Fannin OST Investments LP recently bought 7329 Fannin and 1803 Old Spanish Trail from Houston’s Dixon Financial Services Ltd. Tom Condon Jr. with Colliers’ Woodlands office represented the buyer, andLouis Smith with Houston-based SRC Properties represented the seller. The buyer plans to redevelop the 1.3-acre site into two nationally branded hotels, totaling 325 rooms. A restaurant is planned for the ground floor, and parking will be on the upper levels, according to Colliers. The project is scheduled to break ground in late 2016, and construction is expected to be complete by mid-2018, according to Colliers. HarDam Hotels LLC President James Guillory Jr. of Houston will develop the project.

  17. technically, it's at Grand/Alice, but 288 and OST are within walking distance. Possibly called Med Park? That's what it's referred to on the agenda. from the planning commission
  18. Bisnow reports of a 2 acre site at Cambridge and Holcombe in medical center that will be put into the market. It's said a highrise will be seen there. http://www.bisnow.com/commercial-real-estate/houston/multifamily-monday-private-equity-goes-suburban/ Renderings and latest info: http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2015/01/dinerstein-to-break-ground-on-high-rise-rental-tower/#21137101=0
  19. There's a new construction site on the 3200 block of Moursund. Does anyone know any information on what is being built? It's next to the Dental School and across from Baylor College of Medicine's "new" Alkek building (2007).
  20. Are they still going to build this? I know the research institute is already built (the small one in view), but they haven't this big one, right? http://www.kpf.com/project.asp?S=1&ID=299
  21. I am surprised nobody has mentioned this news... Lyme Properties of Cambridge, MA has announced that it has closed on property located at 1911 Holcombe between the Spires Condo and the Ronald McDonald House. Plans call for a building that will house 25,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space, 125,000 square feet of research and lab space, and 350,000 square feet of medical office space. The best news is that Lyme Properties erects FIRST CLASS projects. Here's a look at a similar sized building rising in Boston's Longwood Medical Center right now. The Blackfan Research Center will have underground parking and rise 300 feet above ground (18 floors). It's also another sign that the Texas Medical Center is really taking off. I cant wait to see what the Houston project will look like. To see more examples of Lyme's work, check out www.lymeproperties.com
