  1. I've always liked the signage to this building. It's arty. https://www.braunenterprises.com/5757-woodway
  2. Corner vacant lot on Bering Dr. at Dolores St. was sold. Condominium project forthcoming?
  3. I was wondering if anybody else can confirm a rumor that a highrise condo will be built on the site of a recently demolished building. It was next to 1800 Augusta Dr, just south of San Felipe, and at about 1750 Augusta Dr 77057. Since I live just a block south I was trying to prepare for possible effects of the construction and the weak rumor that more will follow moving southward (including our complex!?). Map of location Any additional insight?
  4. Two demolition permits issued. I looked on a apartment website and none of the units are available. I believe there is a campus of 3 apartment buildings. Anything going on here?
  5. Hi everyone, I didn't see any topic about this so I will post it. So this is an HEB on San Felipe and Fountain view and on the south of this lot it's reserved for a 5 acre 400 room high end apartments. I will try to post pictures every week or two. 1. 6. Omni Houston, Hilton Garden begin construction Two Houston hotels have broken ground on new projects. Omni Houston Hotel broke ground Wednesday at Four Riverway in the Galleria area on what will be an expanded ballroom and spa. When finished in June 2008, the hotel will have 26,000 square feet of ballroom space and a 6,800-square-foot spa. The general contractor for the project is Turner Construction Co., and the architect is Morris Architects, which designed the hotel, originally built in 1981. The spa, set to open in August 2008, will be for hotel guests as well as Houston residents. Meanwhile, American Liberty Hospitality has broken ground on a new Hilton Garden Inn at Interstate 10 and Dairy Ashford Road. The Houston-based company's hotel, to be completed in August 2008, will house a combination restaurant/lounge and Hilton Garden Inn's signature Pavilion Pantry offering sundries, beverages, microwavable foods and snacks.

  8. I remember reading about this development almost a year ago, and then it disappeared into the mist with everything else that started going on nearby. 277 units... 4 stories on top of 2 levels of garage. It's now u/c. They are knocking all the old buildings down. (Link to additional info... http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/print-edition/2011/12/16/former-houston-multifamily-developer.html?page=all)
  9. looks like this one flew under the radar: http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2013/12/office-building-to-replace-galleria-area-wedding-venue/?cmpid=hpts The 135,000-square-foot building will be developed at 1885 St. James Place, where the Courtyard on St. James Place now stands. The special events venue has for years hosted weddings, banquets and business functions. the new building is expected to open in early 2015. trying to hit the same niche market Hines' is having so much success with at their new San Felipe building across from River Oaks. i think it's a good call - simialr buildings in the area aimed at the ultra-high end clientele such as redstones Houstonian building and Park Laureate remain consistently well-leased with relatively high rates.
  10. Apparently the old Art Institute building on Yorktown is going to be demolished to make way from some midrise apartments: http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2012/07/old-art-institute-building-to-be-razed-for-luxury-apartments/

  12. This is going up on a divided portion of woodway behind Trader Joe's. anyone know what it is? It is surrounded by office buildings so I am guessing it is the same. Belmont Village Senior Living Hunters Creek At 7667 Woodway Drive.
  13. I'd seen this house before, but really noticed it today. It was built by a firm named Bowles & Bowles, which I've never heard of or know anything about, for a patent attorney named James Weiler. Mr. Weiler founded the patent division of Fulbright & Jaworski, and played in a jazz band most of his life. He passed away in December of 2007. I don't know how much longer this house will be around, given the rabid McMansionization of Willowick. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r85/zoomanderson/_DSC0011.jpg?t=1201654870
  14. http://search.har.com/engine/dispSearch.cf...mp;backButton=Y This one's very close to my office, so I see it quite a bit. Neat house, and probably one of Tanglewood's last mods before the McMansions completely take over.
  15. I have a Hartz Chicken that will be available soon at 6565 Del Monte at S.Voss. Across street from Arturo Boada's. There is a drive-thru and the building is approximately 2400 sq ft with ample parking. Will allow conversion to another restaurant concept.
  16. Ben brought it to my attention that this house is for sale. http://search.har.com/engine/dispSearch.cfm?mlnum=95455265&backButton=Y&Address=218%20Pine%20Hollow%20Ln When I wrote the Jenkins book, I debated a long time about whether or not to feature this house. All of the houses I featured were in Bellaire and just south of Bellaire. This house is off of Woodway on Pine Hollow. I didn't have any vintage photos of the house, and there would be little way to make it look great now, so I decided to leave it out. I went over and visited the current owner once and toured the house a couple of years ago and it was looking neglected. I'm starting to regret that I didn't feature it now, as it is up for sale, and likely to meet a demo crew. Hopefully we can all get over there soon for a tour. If one had the money and interest, this would be a very interesting project. Many original features remain, and the view/real estate is terrific. The house was built in 1953 for the Sullivan family. There is a bedroom addition with lots of glass that follows the style of the original house. I have a small newspaper clipping of it, but on my home computer. Jason
  17. Hello everyone, I'm new here, so if this is a well-known house and I just missed it. Has anyone seen the house on Brown Saddle Rd. in Tanglewood that looks like a submarine coming out of the ground? It's a long, thin mod from the 60's or 70's and was probably done by one of the better known architects in town. The owners have or have had in the past a classic Ford Thunderbird. That's all the info I've got.

The 27-story Sterling at Memorial Villages will be located on the west side of Voss between San Felipe and Woodway, near the upscale neighborhoods of Memorial Villages, Briargrove and Tanglewood. The high-rise, to open in June 2010, will feature 166 residences that will be priced from the high $400,000s. One-, two- and three-bedroom condominium options are available, ranging from approximately 950 square feet to 2,200 square feet. http://houston.bizjournals.com/houston/sto...tml?jst=b_ln_hl
  19. The Harris County Medical Examiner sent over another flyer for another unknown dead person. This one looks like a teen-ager. If you know who he is, give the police a call. (Note -- there's a picture of the dead guy in the flyer, so if you're squeamish about seeing dead people, don't open the attachment.) ML08_4173.pdf
  20. I don't really see how this could have gotten by anyone but I can't seem to find it anywhere. 22. I'm in the market for a larger place and being a fan of MCM I've always been interested in 5050 Woodway. Does anyone know anything about this building? I don't know anything about it other than what has been shown in listings in HAR over the years. The maintenance fee seems to be very low for a high rise. That kind of scares me. I wonder if the maintenance on the building is being done as it should be. Current Listing in 5050 Woodway
  23. Woodway Place II: Condominiums At 651 Bering Drive We are moving to Houston and are looking at the NOTTINGHAM COUNTRY area at Fry & I10. I'll be driving to Woodway and 610 and would like to be in the office at 7:30 and will leave about 5:30. With the construction finished on the 10 what are the approximate commute times I could expect?
  24. http://www.har.com/7475233 I tried to email this realtor to ask if they'd like to be a mod of the month earlier in the month, but never heard back. Well, it's open this Sunday, so go if you can... Jason
