While driving down South Wynden Drive I came across this fancy brick office building. Here's some photos I took of the building.

The law offices of Hudson Partnership located at 35 North Wynden Drive is connected to the Blaffer family. Hudson Bros. Real Estate owns some high-value land down the street a long South Post Oak Lane. I stopped by the other month to take a photo of the street signage and building.

Degeorge Real Estate leases the Woodway Square Retail Center located at 6401 Woodway Drive. Another address for the center is 6531-6543 Woodway Drive. Kelsey Seybold is preparing to open a new clinic here. Kelsey Seybold is expanding at a rapid rate! Seems like every 6 months there's a new clinic opening in the Houston area. https://rejournals.com/kelsey-seybold-clinic-leases-space-in-woodway-square-center-in-houston/

Drove down South Wynden Drive today to look around the surrounding neighborhood. Found a few old ranch houses that don't fit the neighborhood. One home at 32 South Wynden sits on a massive lot! This is (or was?) being marketed for sale by Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty. Unrestricted lot - Residential * Commercial. Lot Size: 40,812 Sq Ft. Photo I took today:

I briefly went inside this office building the other day. Very modern and well kept! I know the building is a low-rise at only 3-stories but it's a hidden gem. Seems like a cost effective, but class-a, office space. Woodbranch is the either the owner or management for this building. Stream Realty is in charge of leasing. I took these photos today. Cool reflection of the oil tower down the street.

There is a small Chase bank located next door to the Four Leaf Towers and also the Aspire Post Oak tower. The small bank is on the corner of a larger retail parcel. I can only imagine, in due time, that small Chase parcel will be will be sold and combined with the retail parcel for a mixed-use residential development. Chase could have a small branch, or ATM, on the ground floor of the new tower! Give it 10 years.

Cool office building located off San Felipe at 1770 Saint James Place. A decade ago, my dental surgeon was located here. Great doctor. I wonder the architect? Loopnet listing: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1770-St-James-Pl-Houston-TX/5166338/

This one might sit for a while. 1910 Bering Drive - 4 Acres of Residential Land Offered at $26,136,000 USD. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1910-Bering-Dr-Houston-TX/27637533/

I was browsing the publication Houston's forgotten heritage : landscape, houses, interiors, 1824-1914 and came across an article about Beatty's Truck Farm. Dancing at Beatty's Truck Farm, Sunday afternoon ca. 1900. North Post Oak Road wat Woodway, north side of Buffalo Bayou. Left to right: Harry and James W. Kennedy, Archie and Mitty Beatty, Sam Kennedy. Truck farms located on the outskirts of Houston produced fruits and vegetables that were sold from the farmers' wagons at the City Market on Market Square. Noted for its superior watermelons, the Beatty farm abutted Post Oak Road and Camp Logan (now Memorial Park) on the east. On Sunday afternoons Archie and Mitty Beatty entertained their friends with dancing under the pine trees. During hot weather the refreshments included watermelons iced down in large barrels.

I was researching the names of local streets within the Texas Medical Center. An old street from the 1990s called William C Harvin Blvd. is about to expire and will be replaced with a TMC Helix Park name instead. William C Harvin Blvd. is a street located between South Braeswood Blvd. and Old Spanish Trail. Used to be the street you took to get to the TMC surface lot that is now the TMC Helix Park campus. William C. "Bill" Harvin III, who first worked as a high school intern at the Houston law firm Baker Botts and later became its managing partner. Harvin joined Baker Botts after the war and became a partner in 1956. He retired in 1984. A leader in community organizations and causes, Harvin served as a trustee of St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston and of the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. He also was board chairman of the Kelsey Research Foundation. “It all began with David’s father,” Sally says. William C. Harvin III was a long time member of the UTHealth Development Board serving until his death in 2007. He also was chairman of the Texas Medical Center Board of Directors. For his service on the board of the Texas Medical Center, a street in the center was named in his honor in 1996. https://www.chron.com/news/houston-deaths/article/William-Harvin-lawyer-at-Houston-firm-Baker-1529149.php https://www.uth.edu/giving/impact-stories/sally-and-david-harvin-a-family-tradition My research spanned 50 years. I understand he was 3rd generation of William C. Harvins (William C. Harvin III) so maybe the home addresses are of different family members. Or, like many people, he simply moved a few times in the span of 50 years. Southwestern Times dated November 28, 1946: William Harvin lived at 2634 Sunset Blvd. Southwestern Times dated August 2, 1951: William Harvin lived at 4328 Jim West Street. The Bellaire & Southwestern Texan dated February 9, 1966: William Harvin lived at 111 Maple Valley Road. The Texan dated April 9, 1986: William Harvin lived at 111 Maple Valley Road.

I was reading the newspaper The Bellaire Texan dated June 8, 1950 and discovered William Harrington's residential home. William G. Farrington, 5345 Woodway, president of the Houston Public Schools Board, brought on a walkout by two members of the board (Ewing Werlein and Dr. Henry A. Peterson) when he called for the appointment of Attorney Leon Jaworsky, 3722 Rio Vista, to the board to fill the unexpired term of C.W. MacPhail.

JLL is listing the remainder of the site for sale...0.69 acres. Looks like it was planned for high rise multifamily. 516171036_4944WoodwayFlyer.pdf

I had a talk with a neighbor today. He said there was a sign being assembled in front of The Bordeaux Apartments before COVID hit. The sign never got assembled. Woodway is such a prime address for an old 2-story building. Potential redevelopment soon?

Big Tex Storage Uptown At 4944 Woodway Dr.
Highrise Tower posted a topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
Noticed some permitting activity lately. Called someone related to the project and they confirmed the London Square Townhomes will be demolished. The owner/developer is Endeavor Real Estate Group out of Austin. They're website does not have any Houston properties listed. Hopefully they enter the market with a splash! https://www.endeavor-re.com/ DMRE's old property flier. I've noticed DMRE's properties usually have a high chance of fast redevelopment. Waste water and sewer disconnect permits. Demolition should come next!- 21 replies
