  1. The Shell Star Stop gas station at the corner of Buffalo Speedway & West Airport Blvd. was built in only 6 months. The developer had to clear vacant forest land to build. There is a planned Chevron across the street. They are pulling a South Post Oak & Willowbend. Maybe they can add an Exxon on the other corner (for sale listed by JLL) which would replicate the SPO & Willowbend intersection. Anyway, if things go as planned. This intersection will be booming with activity in a few years. The TMC BioPort Campus is located here. Picture I took a few days ago.
  2. Anyone else notice the conversion of the abandoned Texaco gas station to a sparkly Shell station? Looks 1,000 times better. Plus you have a new Chikfila going up across the street. This corner is starting to get refreshed. Maybe, but not likely, the Kroger could be redeveloped into multifamily with grocery on the ground level. The medical center could use more housing.
  3. Saw this article in the chron this morning - http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/columnists/sarnoff/article/As-far-as-land-goes-large-tract-near-Medical-7252410.php Does anyone know where to find the marketing materials? I checked out the Cushman & Wakefield website but couldn't locate it. It's not quite as close to TMC3 as Nancy seems to think (I think she's looking at the wrong parking lot), but still relatively close

  5. My elevator guy just told me Shell is planning on building a 35-40 story tower in The Woodlands and that Anadarko wants to build another one too. Can anyone confirm this?
  6. I was on the OKCTalk forum and there are a couple of post claiming that Shell could be moving their NA headquarters from Houston to Oklahoma City. Is this really a possibility or is it just rumors and wishful thinking on their part ? They pointed out that Shell sold their headquarter building last year as if that was proof but Shell never owned the building they are just tenants and in fact I believe they renewed their lease for another 15 years not to long ago.
  7. Two 12-story buildings close to being started on Shell's campus. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/print-edition/2012/05/04/shell-close-to-construction-on-two-new.html
  8. Being a recent newcomer to DT I was curious as to how many buildings Shell has offices in. They seem to be scattered in several different buildings including Pennzoil, and Houston Center. Any others?
  9. Regarding the new gas station going up on Telge Rd (not to be confused with the Garbage Can building down the street) - its scheduled to open on Sept 1st and will include a McDonalds. 12902 TELGE ROAD Cypress, TX 77429
  10. Shell Oil won an $882.8 million contract to sell jet fuel to the U.S. military over the next year from its Deer Park refinery. full article
  11. I came to understand earlier today that Shell has committed to ensuring that all of their about 6,000 employees in Houston are in LEED certified green buildings. They are currently housed in several downtown skyscrapers and in a few other sites around town. To my knowledge all of their downtown space is leased and in multitenant buildings and very little space elsewhere is owned. Unless the owners of their current buildings opt to undergo expensive retrofitting, this means that Shell would be more likely to relocate and consolidate their operations into one or more new towers, similar to how Chevron is doing in the old Enron towers. If the average amount of space per employee is 300 square feet, and there are 6,000 employees, then there is a need for 1.8 million square feet of new office space. Feel free to speculate. For the moment, it's anyone's guess as to how that might pan out.
  12. Shell Oil Expanding Energy Corridor Campus By Connie Gore http://www.globest.com/newspics/hou_150ndairyashford.jpg 150 N. Dairy Ashford Rd.HOUSTON-Shell Oil Co., with Hines as the development manager, has kicked off an expansion project for its 945,508-sf Energy Corridor campus. The LEED-designed project will add a 170,000-sf office structure, 30,000-sf amenity building and five-story, 800-space parking garage. ................................................. The development site at 150 N. Dairy Ashford Rd. is a 43-acre wooded tract adjoining the energy giant's 34-acre footprint of seven office buildings and one restaurant, a $62.7-million-assessed property developed in 1980. The construction tab for the expansion isn't available, but it's sure to be hefty based on today's material costs and the "green" design. Dirt work got under way yesterday. "I believe we will be putting in foundations in the next three weeks or so," Mooz says. The garage is ticketed to deliver by midyear 2007; the six-story office building and single-story amenity center will open in the following December. The amenity building is a combo conference center and fitness facility for the entire campus. ................................................. Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum's Houston team designed the campus addition. I.A. Naman + Associates Inc. and Walter P. Moore & Associates Inc., both from Houston, are the consulting engineers. DE Harvey Builders Inc. of, also Houston based, is the general contractor. Tim Relyea and Joe Peddie with Cushman & Wakefield of Texas Inc. represented Shell in planning and advisory services for the project and will follow through as its tenant rep throughout the development process. The expansion is starting out with Shell as the owner and Hines in the development role. http://www.globest.com/news/716_716/houston/149020-1.html __________________________ More good news for my area of town. Now they need to start tearing down the old apartments that ring the area around Stratford HS.
