  2. Highland Village is one of the best shopping areas in Houston. I think that Houston needs more of theses type of shopping areas. I just wish that the shopping was closer to the road (More Urban), but it's great how it is. Does anyone know of any new shopping areas going up that area comparable to Highland Village?
  3. has anyone seen the kuhl-linscomb (kirby @ w. alabama)? they started off as one large store in an upscale strip center and now they have expanded. instead of tearing down a whole street of houses (vintage 2&4plexes which are really great), they bought every house on the neighboring residential street (about 6), painted them the same color and put a large number on each door. every house is a different "department" of the store. although not every company could afford to do this, i am glad that with their resources they chose to. it lends to something that this board discuses often, w
  4. http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2014/10/gables-to-build-luxury-high-rise-near-river-oaks-district/ The yet-to-be-named building will have 300 units, averaging 1,400 square feet and priced in the range of $2.60 per square foot. Ziegler Cooper designed the building, which will go up on a 2.5-acre site along Westcreek Lane between Westheimer and San Felipe. Joshua Landry, area vice president of investments for Gables Residential, said the building will target “a sophisticated renter with a higher disposable income.” “We are doing a higher level of service, concierge service and amenities
  5. Did the Westcreek color-coded parcel master plan include these apartments for redevelopment? The apartments are located at 2350 Westcreek Lane. Looks like a fairly new complex. Built in the 1990's? Maybe in 20 years they will be replaced with a high-rise? https://theparkatwestcreek.net/
  6. Anyone remember Swamplot reporting River Oaks Baptist School was thinking about building a parking garage? ROBS took the former Walgreens spot at the corner of Westheimer & Weslayan. The land has been vacant for a few years. Wonder if they changed their plans or need funding? Taken today

  8. Crescent Communities second multifamily project for Houston. Crescent plans to start 10 new developments this year and 10 more next year for a total of 7,000 units and $1.4B of construction. That includes Crescent Northgate (rendered here), a 300-unit community underway near the Hardy Toll Road and Grand Parkway intersection close to Exxon’s campus. It’ll deliver in late 2016. Crescent also owns a site in the River Oaks District (at Westheimer and Willowick) that it’s holding for future development. Brian tells us about half of the upcoming projects are in Southwestern markets like

  20. http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=...&id=5756614 Larry Paul Newton, a mentally ill homeless man, attacked a girl named Catherine Sullivan at Lamar High School's front lawn. Sullivan survived the attack, and Newton was arrested. Sullivan had stitches after the attack. Will this lead to controls on homeless?
  21. Just heard that the Monaco Condos are a no-go. Apparently, the price points were too high for the typical Houstonian who wants more space than a hi-rise can offer! I have heard that they still plan on building a hi-rise on that site but they will revamp the entire project, drop many of the amenities, and start with lower price points and fewer units (thus, most likely a much smaller building). Was told this will be about 3 years away from actually happening though.
  22. Any clue on what's happening with Crimson's staging area? Looks like JE Dunn is clearing out.
