  1. Did the Westcreek color-coded parcel master plan include these apartments for redevelopment? The apartments are located at 2350 Westcreek Lane. Looks like a fairly new complex. Built in the 1990's? Maybe in 20 years they will be replaced with a high-rise? https://theparkatwestcreek.net/
  2. (fyi...in interesting news, Katz has announced they will be opening up some Galleria area competition, taking over and building on the River Oaks Plant House lot at 5930 Westheimer for an opening in early 2022) (adjacent/across from Chacho's) edit to say thank you @Highrise Towerfor creating this topic! 🙂
  3. Former home of Gerald Hines in River Oaks hits market for $34.5M https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2021/03/10/gerald-hines-former-home-river-oaks-for-sale.html The Mediterranean-style mansion that late Houston real estate mogul Gerald Hines called home for decades is officially on the market with an asking price of $34.5 million. The 17,405-square-foot, three-story mansion at 2920 Lazy Lane sits on a 4.5-acre property in the Homewoods neighborhood of River Oaks. The primary home has four to five bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. There's also an adjoining guest apartment and a separate caretaker’s residence. Hines, who died in August at the age of 95, was, of course, known for his keen interest in real estate. For his own home, Hines turned to close friend and renowned architect Philip Johnson for advice. Johnson recommended New York-based Robert A.M. Stern Architects to design an Italian-style villa that recalled Hines’ vacations in Tuscany. Stern Architects is known for designing estates for wealthy homebuyers around the world. When the home was completed in 1992, Hines nicknamed it Adagio, Italian for “at a slow tempo.” The home features a number of design elements reminiscent of its Mediterranean muses, including terra cotta roof tiles, white columns, grand hallways with arched doorways and domed ceilings.

  7. Stopped by the site today. Awesome looking property. Had a conversation with the neighbor. It's actually two homes and some land by the bayou. The neighbor said apartments would be terrible due to the small road around that bend. The 4 acres down the street, formerly The Monaco, is owned by a Canadian guy.

  14. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/Lennar-s-apartment-division-buys-Galleria-area-13841951.php Conflicting account of where exactly the site is located: The Gables project is SOUTH of the parcel that's on the corner of Westcreek/San Felipe and across from Arabella. Based on HCAD it appears that the lot is in fact on the corner of Westcreek/San Felipe. See Parcel A (BELOW)
  15. Although it's called "The Hobbit Cafe" currently, I want to say that at one time (late 70s / early 80s) it was called "The Hobbit Hole Cafe". Does anyone remember if that's true? I also wonder if the building looks different or has been remodeled since back then. Driving by there more recently, it seemed to have a different appearance from memory.
  16. Exciting to see this area develop. Someone needs to knock down the Public Storage across the street next.

  21. Anyone remember Swamplot reporting River Oaks Baptist School was thinking about building a parking garage? ROBS took the former Walgreens spot at the corner of Westheimer & Weslayan. The land has been vacant for a few years. Wonder if they changed their plans or need funding? Taken today
