  1. EXCLUSIVE REPORTS From the August 12, 2005 print edition Car dealership gives way to urban infill Jennifer Dawson Houston Business Journal A high-end development mixing retail, residential and possibly office space will soon be parked on an inner-city tract that has been occupied by auto dealerships for the past three decades. Trademark Property Co. is negotiating a long-term ground lease on six acres on Westheimer just west of Mid Lane, which is currently home to a Central Ford dealership. Trademark is the Fort Worth-based developer behind the $100 million Market Street project in The Woodlan
  2. BisNow must have an ice cream headache, because it has another scoop; this time that groundbreaking is scheduled to happen in Janaury, 2013 for Vintage Marketplace, part of The Vintage development. Sloan Plaza

This is on the plat report saying it is commercial in Neartown/Montrose. Does someone know anything about it? Sloan Enterprises is associated
  4. Does anyone know what is going up here? The signs for The Shoppes at Cinco Ranch have been up forever. I heard from a pretty good source that a Kroger's is suppose to go up there but you never know!
  5. Pearland shoppers push retail growth to top of 5-year charts By Carol Christian | January 17, 2013 | Updated: January 18, 2013 8:35am Anyone who drives in Pearland, or commutes to and from the south Houston suburb, knows the community is booming economically. A recent report by the Texas Retail Survey confirms that, for the five-year period between 2006 and 2011, Pearland was the state's fastest growing retail market, with a growth rate of 9.2 percent. In 2011, Pearland had nearly $962 million in retail sales, according to the survey. The 2011 report marks the third straight year that Pearlan
  6. I am told this property has sold and will be a shopping center. This is across from where the Popeyes is. Any one know anything
  7. There's an article in BisNow today about the portion of the Washington Heights project that isn't Wal-Mart. I thought about posting this in the very very long Wal-Mart thread, but thought it might get swallowed up and become hard to find for people who want to know what else is going in there. Here's a link to the full article: http://app.newsletter.bisnow.com/e/es.aspx?s=2636&e=9465&elq=94d3b170bf7c40c3bfda94cbddad69c3
  8. According to b4-u-eat. Hopefully it does better than Taco Milagro or Nortons... http://www.b4-u-eat.com/houston/restaurants/cuisine/coming_soon.asp http://www.bonefishgrill.com/

    Toys "R" Us

I grew up on the west side, and that Toys 'R' Us location has been around for as long as I can remember. It's been closed up since Ike. Any idea what's happening with it?
  10. I have been through the area a few times and have to say Fanin is a handsome street and the area actually has a nice city atmosphere especially during working hours. What I can not figure out is where everyone eats. I hoping someone can fill me in. Looking for places that are near one of the train stops, have a full menu, and are open late enough (and on the weekends) to get a bite after going out in midtown or to a game at Reliant.
  11. What is going in next to Kohl's at Grand Parkway and FM1093. Also, building next to Chuy's on I-10 and West Park? Curious minds want to know...
  12. I just heard the latest demo rumors. Apparently the Roll-N (or rather the little strip center it's in) is slated for demo and to be replaced by an 'upscale retail center.' Could this be part of another project? I have zero confirmation, but my buddy at work just read it on his Houston Aggie alum forum. Too bad. That's the sort of neighborhood bar I wish we had more of.
  13. Anyone see what looks like a large restaurant pad on 290 near Randalls on Barker Cypress? Wondering if anyone knows what that is going to be...
  14. I asked this question because the two jewelry stores at that location never lasted. Robbins Brothers and Spence Diamonds both closed (saw the Spence signs taken down). Why? Is it the economy? The Location? Are fewer people getting married? Or something else?
  15. A company called the Gadbury Group, which advises retailers where to open new stores, has ranked Katy #1 in the nation. Katy, Texas (Houston suburb) Haslet, Texas (Fort Worth suburb) Keller, Texas (Fort Worth suburb) Queen Creek, Arizona (Phoenix suburb) Lehigh Acres, Florida (Fort Myers suburb) Frisco, Texas (Dallas suburb) Casa Grande, Arizona (Phoenix suburb) South Jordan, Utah (Salt Lake City suburb) Lincoln, California (Sacramento suburb) Cary, North Carolina (Raleigh suburb) You can read the full press release here: http://www.gadberry.net/GG%2010from2010.cfm
  16. There is is a retail padsite owned by Gordon Partners in front of Walgreens on 1464 that broke ground. Any idea of what stores will be there? There is also a new corner store that just begun construction on 1464 and beechnut. Could this be a CVS since Walgreens is not even a mile down the road? I thought gas station at first, but there is a new Exxon less than a mile into Beechnut. The reason I'm asking about 1464 is because I'm looking to purchase a house in Mission Sierra. It has a great location. Surrounded by Aliana, Grand Mission, and minutes away from the Westpark Tollway, this neig
  17. Has anyone heard what is happening with the commercial development by Regency at the SE corner of 1488 & 2978? I've heard they've actually purchased about 80 acres total now and I've seen a preliminary site plan by the civil engineer. I'd hoped that because of the proximity to The Woodlands they would try to do something fairly "nice". From the site plan, I don't know if that's going to happen. Looks like just a fairly typical large commercial development at this point (trees just screw up the site work and drive up the cost and all that). I'm sure there is plenty of talk between Regen
  18. They've started moving a lot of dirt around and there have been some construction vehicles on the patch of land directly in front of Lifetime Fitness on Cinco Ranch Boulevard. Anyone know what's going to be built there?
  19. http://www.wdgdallas.com/ Click Master Plan then click Nassau Bay. There are 2 renderings. Anyone know more about this?
  20. My wife wanted me to ask... she heard it is a $0.99 floor store like the one up on 45.
  21. Any body know any news on the Villagio development going in at peek and westheimer parkway? Tenants, schedule, sketches?
  22. I heard they are going to demo that 'landmark' building to pave way for mixed-use development. Anyone has any info on that development?
  23. Anyone have any idea when the Buffalo Wild Wings at 1093 and 99 will break ground??? I see a sign in the pad site, but that's it.
  24. Am I mistaken or did the Sharpstown Mall recently disappear? I went down to Sears there last week and wondered why the parking lot was empty. It looks like it recently changed into the Southwest Corporate Center or something like that and Sears is the only retail tenant left. I didn't hear anything about this and was surprised when I noticed. What's the story?
  25. Don't forget Randall's & Whole Foods on Bellaire Blvd, plus the Randall's on Weslayen. The grocery market in the West U area is already saturated; when the "super Kroger" opened, it took a lot of business away from the Weslayen Randall's. The new HEB will probably put the nail in the coffin for the Weslayan Randall's, as it is the oldest grocery store in the area, and was designed to 1980s standards.
