  1. This little corner strip center has a lot of vacancy. I'd figure it would be very popular given the area. Subway and Le Donut are stationed here.
  2. There's a few demolition permits out. What's happening with this property?
  3. I was researching Houston retail the other day and came across this old, now demolished, shopping center called Speedway Shopping Center. This is the current day HEB parcel on the corner of Buffalo Speedway & Bissonnet. Do we know who was the developer? I wonder the list of stores here? I can see: Hi Hat Cleaners Max's Beauty Salon Buffalo Pharmacy Barber Shop Records Lewis & Coker Liquor Store Does anyone recall this old retail center? Memories or pictures? August 24, 1964: This pylon stands on Buffalo Speedway north of Bissonnet, marking the location of the newly renovated and enlarged Speedway Shopping Center. Located on a five-acre tract, the center contains 38,000 square feet of floor space and its stores and shops offer a wide variety of merchandise and services.
  4. This is the long strip center that houses the Foodarama grocery store. We didn't have a thread so I thought I could start one and gain information about the place. I'm not sure who owns the retail center or who is in charge of leasing. They don't have any signs that states that information. Other prominent tenants are EZ Pawn, Little Caesars, and Walgreens.
  5. I did not know the Weitzman Group owned this old retail strip center. That is awesome! This little retail center is located on the corner of Willowbend Blvd. at South Post Oak rd. Home to the famous Annie's Hamburgers. Property flyer with site plan:
  6. I was browsing around the University of Houston Libraries and noticed this interesting series page. https://findingaids.lib.uh.edu/repositories/2/archival_objects/624 This group of materials relates to Burdette Keeland's architectural practice and is comprised of project files, clippings, sketches, and some photographs. Holmes-Willowbend Shops, 1961. What's this exactly? There was small retail stores on Holmes road in the 1960s? The area is an industrial part of town. Maybe the shops were related such as a tool or machinery shop? I know there (was) a small retail center on Willowbend Blvd. next to the train tracks. The center was torn down to make way for an Intown Homes townhome project. Perhaps Burdette Keeland designed the strip center?
  7. I'm trying to find a name, or a leasing company for the shopping center on South Main bounded by Buffalo Speedway and Westridge Street. I looked on Google satellite, at the shopping center's street frontage signs and could not find either a name of the shopping center, or a leasing contact. Who is in charge of leasing? I would assume they would want to advertise themselves. Some of the notable, long term tenants are Carrington's Sports Bar, Conn's Home Plus, SuitMart, ACE Cash Express, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar. There are three stand a lone restaurants on the outskirts of the property. Carl's Jr. , Taquerias Arandas, and Dunkin' Donuts. The address for the large shopping center, well of Carrington's, is 9585 South Main Street. This is a very large retail parcel on South Main. As time goes by, I can only imagine it being redeveloped into something to include more density. Maybe a mixed-use district with affordable housing, class-b office space, a small retail strip center, and a park? In 20 - 50 years a single story shopping center will not work here. They will need to build taller to meet demand.
  8. I was looking on Loopnet this morning at the retail property located at South Main at South Post Oak (12309-12367 South Main Street). It is owned/managed by Tarantino Properties and is anchored by a Fiesta grocery store. Another notable tenant is The Power Center, which I believe was named after an old power plant that sat at this site before redevelopment? Anyone have any knowledge about the previous power plant? I was reading old local magazines yesterday and noticed an article about "New Plastics Plant Planned In Section". It stated "Construction will begin soon on a $1,00,000 plastics plant at the intersection of Post Oak Road and the S.A. and A.P. railroad tracks, just north of the Bellaire city limits. Designed as a 16-acre site, the plant will house the Wright Manufacturing Company. " This sounds like it would be across the train tracks (and Highway 90) which is the location of the South Main Shopping Center. I did some further reading and it seems that the Wright Manufacturing Company had their (rubber) manufacturing plant at 5208 Post Oak Road, which is the current site of the Meyer Park Shopping Center. Did they have two manufacturing plants just miles apart or is the historical data I read incorrect? I wonder if this shopping center will ever be redeveloped into higher density? Affordable mid-rise apartments with ground floor retail? 9. This is pretty huge in my opinion, old Jones Coney Island is being demo'd and a new restaurant called Artisan's will replace it. Seems like a pretty huge price tag!
  10. Just noticed this. 1.35-acres for sale in the TMC. Might make for a smaller multifamily apartment complex. I’ll edit-in the property flyer soon. https://texas.colliers.com/new-to-market-infill-retail-investment-opportunity-texas-medical-center-location-1
  11. City of Houston Housing & Community Development has announced preliminary plans to renovate the existing site of Wesley AME Church for mixed use, including affordable apartments, retail, and live-work units for small business incubation. Sales document
  12. I noticed this Hunington Properties shopping center is for sale. The address is 3260 South Loop West. Loopnet listing: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/3260-South-Loop-W-Houston-TX/26279234/
  13. A sign is up for "Reel Seafood & Bar" at the spot that was previously Tea & Victory. The sign mentions @reelseafoodhtx, which is associated with a seafood restaurant in Missouri City, which has a logo that matches the one on the sign. https://www.facebook.com/ReelSeafoodHtx/ https://www.reelseafoodwings.com/
  14. Proposed new plat. The plat is owned by WGS Retail Investments,Llc. I went by here last weekend and all the shops on 26th were closed and vacant and looked like prime property for redevelopment.
  15. The old Baytown Seafood Restaurant at 9205 South Main St. will be replaced with Rumberger Wing per a TDLR report. Latipac Commercial Properties. https://latipac.com/properties/ Loopnet listing: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/9205-S-Main-St-Houston-TX/15169835/
  16. I found a newspaper add for Meyer Bros. The White House store. I was browsing an old neighborhood newspaper called Southwestern Times. The issue is dated June 21, 1945. This is possible Store Number 9? HAIF had a listing of all the old Meyer Bros stores and number 9 was missing from the list. Please see below.
  17. This warehouse/ previous body shop is going to be a new restaurant called Doves. It's southern inspired "vibe dinning." Its on a huge lot for just 1 restaurant. Instagram link shows what to expect for the interior and exterior https://www.instagram.com/p/CdMReJtDFvB/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=e51e00d3-90f4-4906-9038-73385e3865c0
  18. I noticed we don't have a thread for the small retail strip center near 610 at Beechnut. Arc Three Studio has an office here. Loopnet listing: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/4660-Beechnut-St-Houston-TX/11995478/
  19. I’ve noticed for the last few months that this building had been been gutted and then painted, so I was wondering what was going on. I drove by today and saw there’s a temporary sign out for Tokyo Joe’s. A quick google search yielded that this will be Tokyo Joe’s Shot Bar. Sorry if there’s already a thread for this location. I didn’t see it so feel free to merge or delete as necessary.
  20. Seabrook Town Center "...The Seabrook Town Center, just north of the intersection of State Highway 146 and Repsdorph Road, has been in the works for some years, but finally all puzzle pieces seem to be in place for the project to become a reality. Houston-based HS Development Group, typically focused on multifamily and student housing, acquired the 19.5-acre property earlier this month from Santa Barbara, California-based Pacific Ridge. HS took over the contract from Houston-based WMF Investments in February, HS Development Group COO Steve Helm said... ...The plan includes a four-story, 322-unit apartment complex and 19,000 square feet of retail and restaurants surrounding a plaza with event lawn as well as some office space. “We’ll have a stage. There'll be a turf surface for kids to play ball or whatever on and four … pad sites,” Helm said. “They could be restaurant or retail pads out front along (Highway) 146.” The 19.5-acre development will be called The Edge at Seabrook Town Centre, the spelling of “center” notably different from the overall Seabrook Town Center, which includes a few more acres to the south..."
  21. The Deal Company now has a River Oaks listing on their website. https://www.tdc-realty.com/3733-westheimer The Deal Company presents fully redeveloped 3733 Westheimer, a mixed use River Oaks retail and office building with abundant surface parking offering quick access to clients and employees. Co-tenants include: Atrium Yoga, BZach Clothier, Control Pilates, Manduu Fitness, Miclette Interiors, Nails Unique, Post N Parcel, Ritzy Alterations. I stopped by last weekend and took pictures.
  22. Anyone know what the deal is with this property? Seems like a clutch location and potentially some great charm.
  23. This newly built strip center in the River Park neighborhood is at the corner of Grand Parkway and Imperia Dr. Wulfe & Co. is the owner. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/Grand-Parkway-Shopping-Ctr-Sugar-Land-TX/13890814/
