  1. This weekend I noticed a UTMB Health Woman's Services & Pediatrics satellite clinic in the Broadway Square Shopping Center located at 2720-2850 East Broadway Street in Pearland. Photos I took this weekend: Frankel Development Group now leasing expansion. Retail center sign with tenant list. UTMB Health office:
  2. Noticed a Lewis Property Company leasing sign this weekend. Didn't that furniture company move here from down the street? It failed at this location too? Dang.

  4. Local reality star Washington Ho's real estate firm is teaming up with two developers to break ground on a $20 million shopping center and market a second retail space on Bellaire Boulevard in an area commonly known as Little Saigon. https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/washington-ho-houston-retail-18702599.php

  6. Degeorge Real Estate leases the Woodway Square Retail Center located at 6401 Woodway Drive. Another address for the center is 6531-6543 Woodway Drive. Kelsey Seybold is preparing to open a new clinic here. Kelsey Seybold is expanding at a rapid rate! Seems like every 6 months there's a new clinic opening in the Houston area. https://rejournals.com/kelsey-seybold-clinic-leases-space-in-woodway-square-center-in-houston/
  7. Built in 1908 for Gustave Antoine Mistrot and Wiley Cooper Munn. The company sold dry goods. Think of it as a very early department store. This was Wiley Munn's first business. He then went into business himself and called it W.C. Munn Company Department Store.
  8. This shopping center next door to Hollywood Square sure does look similar. I wonder if it was the same architect? Looks like MLB Commercial Real Estate sold the center to Lionstone Investments in 2019. I stopped by this weekend and took some pictures. 3701 West Alabama street signage: More signage and building: Greenway Plaza skyline peeking over the retail center: Leasing by The Blue Ox Group: Skyscraper in the background:
  9. I always pass by this shopping center. Thought I would create a thread for any latest leasing additions. Leased by Western General Holding Co. Here are some pictures I took this weekend. The Hollywood Square and 3637 W Alabama street signage: Building signage: Tenant list and skyscraper background:
  10. One of the nicer (older) retail strip centers in that block around Fannin Street. The retail center is home to medical-related businesses including Scrubs N More, One Step Diagnostic, New Quest EMS, Godo's Bakery & Restaurant, and Med Spa. Looks like there are offices behind the retail building that has a store-front for Alonti Catering Here's a photo I took today, but the trees blocked the photo. I'll get a better picture next week.
  11. I've heard great things about the Gyro King restaurant. The Dean's Florist, Grocery & Deli market used to be located up the block 50 years ago. Dean's Grocerette & Deli - 7127 Fannin Street Gyro King - 7131 Fannin Street O.H. Laundry - 7135 Fannin Street Took this photo today, which shoes the dual tower cranes for MD Anderson's SCRB5.
  12. Silver Star Properties, a Houston real estate investment trust, is in the process of selling the 106,000-square-foot Garden Oaks Shopping Center at Shepherd and Garden Oaks Boulevard that also is home to Planet Fitness and Dollar Tree, a JLL spokesperson said. A closing date on the property, which hit the market in April 2023, hasn't been established. Built in 1956, the shopping center is 96% occupied, according to JLL’s website, with Aldi signed for about another 16 years. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/aldi-retail-center-garden-oaks-sells-houston-18626365.php
  13. I've always wondered about the business Bar2200. Anyone ever been? Looks kind of gaudy. The office tower has building signage for the Mattioli Lasik Vision of Mattioli Vision Professionals by IQ Laser Vision. Took these photos today.
  14. I've heard talk about the Fuddruckers in Greenway Plaza at 3929 Southwest Freeway has been closed. This weekend I saw a Lovett Commercial sign posted in front of the property. Lovett wants to split this parcel into 2 pads. https://www.lovettcommercial.com/properties/houston/greenway Here's the photos I took.
  15. Had some extra time this weekend so I thought I would stop by this retail center and take some pictures. This is where the new Vietopia is located. Outstanding food! Duwest Realty is leasing this one. Love the location as you can see the Greenway Plaza skyline. This is sort of a high-profile retail center. Photos I took this weekend.
  16. Has anyone ever been to Ouisie's Table? I drive past this restaurant, and retail center, several times a week. I see it's American food. How does it compare to Grace's down the block on Kirby? I just looked at their menu. Impressive brunch drinks! I'd love a Perfect Peach Bellini made with Peach Schnapps, Texas Peach Sorbet, Prosecco. Let's do a Carafe for $32! I'm not sure of the name of the retail center. The center a long San Felipe also contains JANUS et Cie, Cotton Club Collection, and Leicht Houston. Photo of the street signage I took today.
  17. I haven't been to Chuy's in a while. My father and I used to come here on our weekly meetups. What does everyone think about the food here at Chuy's? I think the chips are a little too think and broken. I'm not a fan of their house salsa either, I don't like that salsa fresca. I prefer other types of salsa like a ranchero or habanero salsa. Malina's in Bellaire (or Southside Place) has a unique salsa. One of their house salsa has vinegar, or pickle juice added. It's a little tangy! Does anyone else think Chuy's needs a parking garage? Their surface lot is considerably small for the amount of business they bring. Since the pandemic, they also took some of the surface lot for to-go orders. Looking on Google Maps, there is a lot of space. However, it's kind of extravagant to build a garage for a restaurant. I believe, in due time, this parcel will be combined with the retail parcel to the left and sold for high-rise development. It's a lot of space in a high valued area, and single-story buildings will be phased out.
  18. There's that small retail center near Lamar High School that's located at 2802 Westheimer Road. In between River Oaks and Upper Kirby. Old Loopnet listing: https://www.loopnet.com/property/2802-westheimer-rd-houston-tx-77098/48201-0121150000018/ How is that fancy restaurant called Relish? It's been there forever but I never tried it. https://www.relishhouston.com/
  19. The building contains two businesses, Pink Berry frozen yogurt and Zoe's Kitchen. Zoes Kitchen is awesome. Love that yellow rice! Cool little retail center in the high profile river oaks. Regarding future, high-rise development, the purchaser would most likely include this parcel and the one next door, the Plants n' Petals flower shop. This stand a lone parcel is too small to work with. Edit:
  20. I've always wanted to create this thread but never have. Has anyone ever shopped for their designer furniture at Roch Bobis? While located at 4810 San Felipe Street, I've passed by it a thousand times but never went inside. When will this small retail building be demolished for something taller? This is prime Uptown real estate! I'm the parcel can contain something that would be a higher density use.
  21. June 12, 1898. The original members of the Weingarten family started the retail business. The Cent Store 509-511 Travis Street Houston, TX 7002
  22. Posted October 18, 2021 (edited) Baso will be moving in to the building at 629 W. 19th St. Building is owned by Braun Enterprises. https://www.braunenterprises.com/629-w-19th https://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/08-30-21-baso-new-restaurant-basque-spanish-the-heights-jacque-varon-fernando-recio-braun-enterprises/#slide=0 https://www.instagram.com/basohtx/?hl=en This was originally posted in the maliciously renamed thread f/k/a Lack of Restaurant Diversity in the Heights, but I couldn't quote it and post in that thread for some reason. This restaurant is finally getting close to opening. The build out is almost complete and they have started hiring.
  23. https://www.newquest.com/property/the-grand-at-249/ Previously proposed as Grand Parkway Town Center with a Kroger Marketplace component - this version no longer features the Kroger store but does have a presence across the Grand Parkway. It is also adjacent to the Interchange 249 Business Park. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/10/09/newquest-develops-the-grand-at-249-retail-tomball.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_27&cx_artPos=1#cxrecs_s "The company said 388,856 square feet, or 96%, of the $90 million development is already leased or under negotiation. The retail center’s 12 1- to 2-acre pad sites should be delivered by the end of the year, NewQuest President Austin Alvis said, adding that all but two of the pads are already committed. Construction for the first multitenant building, totaling 15,000 square feet of retail space on the corner of Highway 249 and Boudreaux Road, should also start by the end of the year, Austin said. A 145,000-square-foot multitenant building row is in the design phase. Also planned are two multitenant buildings totaling 24,902 square feet."
  24. Found this incredible Alfred C. Finn building that was built in Downtown in the 1920s. I searched and found only a single mention of Haverty some 16 years ago. Thought I would share my findings and information. From the newspaper The Houston Post dated October 30, 1921. Havery Furniture Co. to Have New 6-Story Home Work will start at once on big structure on Travis Street. Work will start immediately on a six-story concrete structure to be erected in between Capitol and Rusk avenues on the east side of Fannin street. When completed, the building will be the new home of the Haverty Furniture company. The announcement was made Saturday by J.J. Haverty, president of the company. The new building will be of the most modern constriction in every respect. Its dimensions will be 50x125 feet. The front of the structure will be finished in tapestry brick. The contract for the work has been awarded to the American Construction Company and the building is designed by Alfred C. Finn, a local architect. The total cost of the property and the building complete will be approximately $200,000. Top: Left- J.J. Haverty, president of the Haverty Furniture Company. Right- Fred T. Smith, manager of the Haverty Furniture Company store in Houston. Bottom- Architect's drawing of the new home of the Haverty Furniture Company.
  25. wow! Today I came across a more recent (in terms of business operating years) building of the Westheimer Furniture Company. I noticed this advertisement in the newspaper The Bellaire Texan dated February 18, 1959. M.L. Westheimer sure did build a business empire! Seems like he created 5+ companies.
