I heard from someone in the real estate community that this property traded hands. Does anyone know what the new owners plans are? I believe the restaurant depot store has already shut down.

Highland Village is one of the best shopping areas in Houston. I think that Houston needs more of theses type of shopping areas. I just wish that the shopping was closer to the road (More Urban), but it's great how it is. Does anyone know of any new shopping areas going up that area comparable to Highland Village? http://www.shophighlandvillage.com/graphics/index16.gifhttp://www.shophighlandvillage.com/graphics/index17.gif

(Katy, Texas) October 8, 2015 – The City of Katy is pleased to announce that the Katy Development Authority has taken a key step forward in the development of the Boardwalk District (as shown in the accompanying rendering) by entering into an agreement with Sueba USA Corporation for the development of a 22-acre parcel located adjacent to Katy Mills Mall. Sueba USA Corporation intends to use the parcel to construct a high quality mixed-use development consisting of loft living space, retail and restaurant facilities, and a public plaza. Sueba USA Corporation’s development will be a strong addition to the Boardwalk District which will also include a convention center, hotel, and restaurant row, all anchored by an 89-acre nature park with a central lake, boardwalks, nature preserves, and a 2-mile walking trail system. Construction of the nature park will commence this winter with an anticipated completion and public opening by the end of 2016. Katy Development Authority and Sueba USA Corporation are excited to be joint participants in the construction of the Boardwalk District — a project that will provide Katy residents and visitors an additional first class development to live, work and play. Katy Development Authority was formed by the City of Katy, Texas to promote economic development through public-private partnerships that support the completion of public infrastructure and high quality private development. Sueba USA Corporation is a Houston based real estate development company that is an established leader in the acquisition, development, construction, and management of both residential and commercial real estate.

I know this topic was talked about in another thread (Pavilions, I think), but I don't believe it has it's own thread. Anyways I was in Houston for a wedding last weekend and I was staying at the Four Seasons, so I wandered across the bridge to the shops to check them out. Very pathetic, horrible tenant mix, nobody was there (granted it was a Sat.) but there was definitely A LOT of potential. It was very similar to the Galleria..design wise and obviously on a much smaller scale. I was thinking if they opened it up to the street more and/or the outside in general it would be a very enjoyable experience, as I wandered around I found a newspaper like receptacle that had the Houston Center's "Magazine", anyways it was basically all about the planned renovation. They plan to make it an "Urban Park" inside, in fact they used that term A LOT. They have some of the info. on their website if you want to check it out, but it's much more in-depth in the mag, I'd scan it if I had the technology and the knowledge, unfortunately I have neither. There was some activity at the long abandoned commercial structure at 2020 Travis. Workers just said that they were "cleaning it out", but they were taking down all the ceiling light fixture and pretty much everything inside. Anyone know what might be going on here?

There is a request for a variance pending before the planning commission for Oct 2 for the Freedman's distributor site on Waverly and W 6th down below the bike path. 8.65 acres. Seeking a building line variance from 25 feet to 10 feet. No indication what, if anything, is planned for the property. Freedam's looks to have been bought out by Grocer's Supply. The latter also has been consolidating operations into a new space in the 1st ward. No idea whether they are going to sell, are selling or have sold or whether they will redevelop the property with modern warehouse space.

Looks like Lovett is surprisingly remodeling, and not tearing down, an old warehouse near washington, on Sawyer/Edwards, right along the railroad tracks. http://www.lovettcommercial.com/Detail.aspx?idwebarea=36&webid=159 Im sure it's not news to many, but it now looks like the are actually doing some construction there. Anyone have any pictures or know any additional info such as possible tenants?

Is this guy b.s. or what? I haven't heard anything about it: "Dudes and Ladies, I was very upset when I heard from a business owner in River Oaks Plaza that later this year, early next, they are getting rid of the theater to put in a 30 story high-rise. word is, they are axing black eyed pea too, for a multi-level parking garage." You can read the rest here: http://members.boardhost.com/hands_up/msg/1151627265.html Anyone know anything?

This thread was originally created September 9, 2019. I'm reposting / reupping this because this post and other content from me are no longer available on the forum due to a mod removing my account and its content in "error" (supposedly). I was just wondering, how far apart are these two developments and do you all thing these two sites could change the perception of Houston as a urban walkable city? Which development do you think has the greatest potential for development? Some say that the KBR site should become a park, but I believe that there could be a much better use for the site. Has anyone ever been to Ouisie's Table? I drive past this restaurant, and retail center, several times a week. I see it's American food. How does it compare to Grace's down the block on Kirby? I just looked at their menu. Impressive brunch drinks! I'd love a Perfect Peach Bellini made with Peach Schnapps, Texas Peach Sorbet, Prosecco. Let's do a Carafe for $32! I'm not sure of the name of the retail center. The center a long San Felipe also contains JANUS et Cie, Cotton Club Collection, and Leicht Houston. Photo of the street signage I took today.

The one along Holly Hall crosses freight tracks owned by UP or Houston Belt & Terminal, but the frequency of trains is very low and almost never during the daytime. At night, small trains drop off and pick up cars at the Grocers Supply Co. distribution center on Holcombe, which is where the line currently ends, but that is the only user of the tracks of which I'm aware.

I just heard the latest demo rumors. Apparently the Roll-N Saloon At 4200 San Felipe Street, Houston, TX (or rather the little strip center it's in) is slated for demo and to be replaced by an 'upscale retail center.' Could this be part of another project? I have zero confirmation, but my buddy at work just read it on his Houston Aggie alum forum. Too bad. That's the sort of neighborhood bar I wish we had more of. Noticed a Lewis Property Company leasing sign this weekend. Didn't that furniture company move here from down the street? It failed at this location too? Dang.
