Edwin Parker was a partner in a law firm a long with James A. Baker, and Baker Botts in the firm Baker, Botts, Parker, & Garwood Built in January 23, 1910 by architects Sanguinet & Staats. Once built, it became ownership of C.R. Wharton, an employee of the company. The house was located at 803 Hadley Street in Midtown.

Hi All, I'm new to the forum and was just looking for insight on Franklin Lofts. I've been through one of their open-house events and was pretty impressed overall. The building is beautiful and has a lot of pros in my mind. I'm considering trying to buy there but just wanted some feedback before I start making any serious decisions. This is what I've come up with so far: Edit: The building was originally the First National Bank at 201 Main Street. Pros: 1.) Location 2.) (Relatively) Low HOA fees 3.) Historic tax exemption 4.) Spacious floorplans/hardwood floors 5.) Parking, etc. Cons: 1.) Good Value?? 2.) Cheap looking cabinets, kitchen area I keep finding myself going back and forth so any opionions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm just a little surprised 30 years ago we could have built two tall condo towers and today we cannot. I'm sure there are factors as to why that I'm not aware of. Just discovered Max Wesheimer's home in a newspaper article. Max was once of M.L. Westheimer's nephews. I looked on Google Maps and 1400 Chenevert is now a surface lot. I wonder how big his house was? From the newspaper The Jewish Herald-Voice dated September 22, 1938. Westheimer - Mr. and Mrs. Max and nephew, Mr. Joseph J. Eisemann, 1400 Chenevert, extend best wishes to all their friends and relatives for a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

I was reading the newspaper The Bellaire Citizen dated May 25, 1950 and came across one of the famous Meyers residential address! Sadly, this doesn't look like a mansion. Located in the area of West University/Rice Village, it was a typical home. I believe Frank Meyer built his mansion a few decades later at 9111 South Post Oak Road. Tried to look for an old aerial view of the home but there's too many trees blocking it! I believe the original house is still there? I'm not sure of this person's first name. Any help here? I read F. A. Heitman was a local hardware tycoon. The house was designed by none other William Ward Watkin. Such a beautiful home, that was since demolished.

Rumor on the street is that Cameron acquired 25 acres from Apache. I believe this location is the former Dow Chemical HQ at 400 West Sam Houston Parkway. They have real estate all over the city, particularly in Westway Park. This must be a large consolidation for them. Apparently going to include over 1 million square feet of office. Patrinely will develop it for Cameron...you have to believe the architect will be Gensler. Same team currently developing Southwestern Energy's new HQ in Springwoods Village. How many energy companies are left to build new campuses for?

wow! So that's who designed and owned that infamous mansion in the Museum District. I never knew it was one of Maurice Sullivan's homes. Very cool! Does anyone know about this house? Must have been built in the 1920s?

wow! Found an unknown residence of Mr. Joseph Finger. Looks like it's sandwiched in between the Museum District and Montrose located at 801 Portland Street, Colby Court. I wonder if he designed the home himself? Any pictures? From the newspaper The Texas Jewish Herald dated March 24, 1927. On Friday, Imperial Sugar announced that it reached a preliminary agreement with a partnership of Cherokee Investment Partners and W.C. Perry Land Development to buy the 160-acre Fort Bend County property. "We'll be turning a blight on the community into something more viable and preserving the historic nature of the sight," said W.C. Perry's Will Perry, the son of well-known residential developer Bob Perry of Perry Homes. The elder Perry is not involved. Ultimately, this proposed development could include much more than the old sugar refinery. Perry said the groups will try to acquire a 550-acre tract of state-owned land northwest of the property and redevelop the entire parcel. The prospect of redevelopment is a relief to area residents who have been concerned about living next door to an empty and decaying industrial complex. "I think, for the most part, most people are very excited to know there will be something there instead of a vacant factory with a lot of buildings that need to be demolished. It's looking pretty tacky right now," said Kristin Lytle, who founded the Friends of Old Sugar Land. Perry sees the central feature in the proposed development as something similar to San Antonio's River Walk or The Woodlands Waterway. Oyster Creek runs through the property. Plans are still very preliminary, however, as the group hasn't yet struck a deal with the state on the additional acreage or closed on the Imperial Sugar property. The developers won't discuss the terms or additional details about the proposed project until it is further along. Their deal to buy the Imperial Sugar property could close by year-end, but they must complete a detailed review. Other groups have looked at the sugar refinery site, but it goes back to the early 1900s, and Cherokee's experience in redeveloping old industrial plants helped get the attention of Imperial Sugar executives. The Raleigh, N.C.-based real estate firm buys contaminated properties like old manufacturing and refining sites, cleans up any environmental damage and sells or develops them in partnerships. I am just curious about something.......Growing up in the 70's I had an older brother who was a bit of a juvenile delinquent ( At least that's what they called out of control kids back then) After breaking the law a few to many times, they sentenced him to a boys home. I am trying to remember a certain one. I believe it was located out in Clear Lake, and I remember on family visits, that they had horses, canoes and it was like a summer camp. I guess the juvenile justice system sure has changed. Just wondering if any one has any information on the place. Back then it was all under The Harris county youth authority, and I know they had several other places in Texas.

Came across this 1959/1960 photo of a barren area of the southwest freeway construction. Looking outbound toward Post Oak Blvd. at Westpark Dr. In one parcel of land, located off McCue Road, there is a mansion all by itself. Does anyone know whose house this was?
