Anyone have information about this property? Its next to the Glasswall property. Fencing has been put up around it and looks like maybe a pending demo?

Saw this article in the chron this morning - http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/columnists/sarnoff/article/As-far-as-land-goes-large-tract-near-Medical-7252410.php Does anyone know where to find the marketing materials? I checked out the Cushman & Wakefield website but couldn't locate it. It's not quite as close to TMC3 as Nancy seems to think (I think she's looking at the wrong parking lot), but still relatively close

I nominate NewQuest Properties for Idiot Developer of the Year. Their penchant for clearcutting and tossing up cheap-looking strip centers is unrivalled. They're developing a heavily wooded parcel behind a neighborhood with million dollar homes over near Grant Rd. & Louetta. It's a nicely wooded parcel and there's really absolutely NO need for any more strip centers as there are numerous brand new centers that lie mostly vacant. So I asked them what they were planning on building at that location..they said "they didn't know"..."not sure yet"..."but we're clearcutting that land"...."you see, the beauty of Texas, rather the beauty of Harris County is that we can do anything we want with the land" Even if that means pissing off the communities you develop in? Pissing off the very customers they ultimately hope to serve by trashing their community with more junk they don't want? Brilliant strategy NewQuest. Brilliant. Good developers create lasting value, and are welcome in the community. NewQuest isn't one of them.

https://www.newquest.com/property/the-grand-at-249/ Previously proposed as Grand Parkway Town Center with a Kroger Marketplace component - this version no longer features the Kroger store but does have a presence across the Grand Parkway. It is also adjacent to the Interchange 249 Business Park. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/10/09/newquest-develops-the-grand-at-249-retail-tomball.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_27&cx_artPos=1#cxrecs_s "The company said 388,856 square feet, or 96%, of the $90 million development is already leased or under negotiation. The retail center’s 12 1- to 2-acre pad sites should be delivered by the end of the year, NewQuest President Austin Alvis said, adding that all but two of the pads are already committed. Construction for the first multitenant building, totaling 15,000 square feet of retail space on the corner of Highway 249 and Boudreaux Road, should also start by the end of the year, Austin said. A 145,000-square-foot multitenant building row is in the design phase. Also planned are two multitenant buildings totaling 24,902 square feet."

Maybe I am posting this in the wrong section, but I live in Meyerland and I have often wondered why we do not have a Super Walmart in the SW Houston/Meyerland area. We have a normal Walmart off of South Post Oak and 610 (which is always REALLY crowded), but not a Super WM. Anyone else think there needs to be one?

NewQuest Readies Plans For Mo. City Shopping Center Houston developer NewQuest Properties is planning to build a new shopping center near State Highway 6 and the Fort Bend Parkway in Missouri City. Called Fort Bend Town Center, the project would be built in two phases. Phase one includes about 40 acres at the southwest corner of Highway 6 and the parkway. This phase is planned as a 160,000- square-foot retail center with a grocery store as an anchor. Phase 2, at the southeast corner of the intersection, would be about 400,000 square feet. The rest of the story can be found here.

This thread was originally created January 20, 2016. I'm reposting / reupping this because this post and other content from me are no longer available on the forum. An archive link will be posted soon. Mods, please don't move this to the Heights forum where all of my Washington Corridor posts were moved to. Mods, also don't sneak and move this thread and all the others for Washington Corridor, Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, and Independence Heights to the Heights forum once all the previous content is reposted as y'all have done in the last two weeks and continue to do. This is NOT in the Heights and it's not part of the Greater Heights area in any way. This is in the Washington Corridor area, an area that as suggested and advocated for previously needs its own forum because there is lots of development happening here, much spurred by the Sawyer Yards and Buffalo Heights developments. That in itself usually merits the creation for a new neighborhood forum. Until then, posts for those neighborhoods should remain in the forum for "Other Neighbohoods" has is done with other threads that don't have a dedicated neighborhood or area of town forum.Thanks. Once home to Guadalajara Bakery, the 4003 Washington Avenue property, and the adjacent lot next to it at 4011 Washington Avenue (former car lot) is expected to open as a club named La Roux. Construction has been on going for a year or two. [Photo: Eater Houston]
