Here are my photos so far. I have some more I have to take of this really cool wall they have left standing all by itself. I keep wondering how it stays up because there is nothing to brace it. I guess they are waiting for it to fall on its own. I will head over there this afternoon and add to these. I took these two weeks ago: http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05.jpg From the TGI Friday's lot perpendicular to the Tollway. http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05-2.jpg Same angle. http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05-3.jpg Dillard's goin' bye-bye. http://www.tropicaltexans.com/images/Houston/tcfeb05-4.jpg The backside of the mall--JC Penney is gone already.

I was just wondering, how far apart are these two developments and do you all thing these two sites could change the perception of Houston as a urban walkable city? Which development do you think has the greatest potential for development? Some say that the KBR site should become a park, but I believe that there could be a much better use for the site. The Vision Integrating the man-made with the natural. It’s a challenge to link the two in a way this is not disruptive to existing space and allows for growth and development. The goal should always be to design a natural extension of the environment, developing in a natural way that truly fits with the city and its surroundings. The plan was prepared for Hines Development to provide a vision for a 14-acre site in West Houston. The site has a natural beauty, being part of the edge of Houston’s signature open space, Memorial Park. Developing links with the park is a centerpiece of the design concept, which encompasses approximately 1.8 million square feet of mixed-use development. The Vision includes extending the natural setting of Memorial Park into the site. An organic and natural setting on the edge of the park gradually transitions into more formal settings to integrate the scheme with its various surroundings in the neighborhood context. A curving boulevard and a lineal park are part of the framework around the multiple addresses on which the building program will be sited. The vision includes using the park and the topographical changes of the Buffalo Bayou tributary to make a unique environment for the hotel conference center, a key element of the program. http://i.imgur.com/hiF9Cr3.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ccn6bpu.jpg http://i.imgur.com/t0DoYIJ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/EqLCQOp.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Jju2Ubd.jpg http://i.imgur.com/k1wBzRV.jpg http://i.imgur.com/srMlQpp.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qRG9cmV.jpg

I don't have the specifics for the height, floors, architect, etc. but here's what she's going to look like... I believe this is the view of the north side of the building that will face Market Square. This is based on the other renderings of the Chronicle site building. Block 42:

Does anyone know what year the Lyric Center was built? Also, does anyone know the name of the white building about 30 floors, located somewhere between the Lyric center and the JPMorgan Chase tower? When viewed from the west, it has rectangular windows in the center of the building that are longer vertically than horizontally. The windows on the north and south edges are more square shaped. It is relatively new and I don't see any info on it in the list of downtown buildings? Been away from Houston for a while so any help would be appriciated.

It's not quite going up yet, but I'm confident it will be soon as there have been recent reports about their plans including this one from this past Friday. We can change the title once it is announced. From the article: The article also mentions that other potential locations are the Med Center, Energy Corridor, downtown and even suburban locations like The Woodlands and Sugar Land. http://www.chron.com/business/sarnoff/article/Sarnoff-Ashby-high-rise-developers-request-first-3832588.php#photo-3396224
