  1. Noticed an outlined development on a property flyer. The old office building on Richmond was once a planned to be a robot brothel that fell through. https://www.loopnet.com/listing/5615-richmond-ave-houston-tx/14016727/ Highlighted in green on the left https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/5440-Richmond-Ave-Houston-TX/18710651/
  2. Project Name: Winrock North Apartments Location Address: 2030 Winrock Blvd. Start Date: 4/1/2023 Completion Date: 4/1/2025 Scope of Work: New construction of a 398 for-rent multifamily units, structured parking garage, and shared amenity areas. Square Footage: 9,800 ft 2 Design Firm Name: GFF
  3. Have a request from the HAIF historians. John H. Kirby developed the Cawthon Flat located at 912 Walker Street in downtown. Cawthon Flat burned down in 1912 so I would assume Cawthon Flat was built around that time. Someone else rebuilt and marketed the building as a hotel. The hotel was called The Cawthon Hotel and was owned by Mrs. L. Jeannette Perkins. John Kirby's Cawthon Flat was said to be 2 stories and a total of 35 rooms. Would anyone have photos, or a depiction, of the building? How about the architect? Greatly appreciated!
  4. European style midrise condo building proposed at 4802 Caroline St by Urban Flats Builders. This will be next to Park on Caroline and Oaks on Caroline http://www.chron.com/news/article/Urban-Flats-Builder-sets-focus-on-mid-rise-market-6609073.php https://www.facebook.com/Ridge-on-Caroline-839683789420103/info/?tab=overview
  5. 370 units. "The project calls for 370 one- or two-bedroom units in a development would feature a parking garage and five live-work units."
  6. Deleted this member. Also banned his e-mail address, and user name and similar ones. Also, he was coming from a computer in the Philippines, so I banned the entire ISP. I should probably ban the entire country. I know other web sites ban all users from Russia, Romania, and a number of Asian countries. I wonder if that would help here, too.
  7. My nephew got to stay here when he interviewed with Transocean, had to pick him up. Architect - https://pflugerarchitects.com
  8. So I live in Chateaux Dijon, and my balconies overlook the empty lot that was formerly Pilgrim Elementary. This morning, a bulldozer crew showed up and yanked out all the oak trees along the Mustard House fence line, including a huge old one that shaded both balconies gorgeously and now my electric bill will be liek woah but anyway ... what's going in over there? How do y'all find out what's being built where?
  9. Built in January 9, 1916, for developer/owner Charles P. Jones, the architects Jones & Tabor built this small apartment building at Main Street and Truxillo Street in Midtown, Houston. Any historians on HAIF know the exact address?
  10. Designed by Jones & Tabor Architects, the Archer Apartments was built in May 30, 1909 and was located on On Lamar Street and Louisiana Street in Downtown, Houston. Alternatively named The Archer Apartments.
  11. Architect - https://suebaconsulting.com
  12. Houston Housing Authority lists a “Highrise” on the site of the Ewing St apartments as part of their 2024 plans for which they are seeking funding: See pg. 5 in the link below: https://housingforhouston.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Part-I-Annual-PHA-Plan-_-Attachments.pdf This would be across from Tema’s lot, from where Two Hermann Place is planned.
  13. Hi, I am considering moving from Philadelphia (just graduated) to Houston and living in Bayou on the Bend apartments on Memorial Drive in ZIP 77007. I will be living in a townhome on the top floor, with a designated garage on the same floor, so hopefully that should reduce flooding related issues. I will be commuting to my office in the Continental Tower building (Smith Street) Does anyone have experience living in this property or any knowledge about it? Also, wondering what the 77007 area is like, I am single and like to keep myself busy either doing chores, dining (mostly take out or a quick bite alone until I meet people), seeing movies, meeting people. I would also like to be proximal to supermarkets for daily needs, e.g. bread, toiletries as well as services such as a post office, dry cleaner, gas station. I will really appreciate any help that you have. Thanks, Andy
  14. I heard a rumor today at a real estate office that this property has been sold. Has anyone heard?
  15. There is a sign up near the Bass Pro shops construction at the Spectrum exit off 288 showing the "Waterlight District" with a water taxi in the picture. Anyone know about this Woodlandsesque development?
  16. These are the first of this style of townhouse that I've seen on the east end. Harrisburg Lofts Hard to tell if these are just cheap versions of Urban Lofts but it's good to see a little touch of something, I don't know, are these considered artsy anymore? It's also good to see Harrisburg Blvd. get something like this, whereas for the past 75 years there's been nothing but industry and retail on it. I think with the art community on Commerce street east of downtown slowly spreading further east and also the anticipation of the Harrisburg Metrorail line in 11', Harrisburg will slowly develop into a cool blvd. Unfortunately, we're still in Houston. Right across from these townhouses, there's 17.5 acres cleared and under construction. With prime views of nearby downtown, I hoped something glamourous was in the works. I pulled up to the construction trailer and asked and they told me it's going to be Centerpoint Energy's warehouse complex......
  17. The headline to Lisa Gray's recent article in the Houston Chronicle regarding the alterations to River Oaks Plaza says it best: Beige, Blotchy and Bland. Quote:"The snappy black-and-white buildings are turning beige. Fake stucco and more of that blotchy sandstone are covering the nifty old bricks. Above the building's canopies, new, taller parapet facades screw up the once-low-slung center's proportions, and allow more room for bigger, brighter signs." I'm with you, Lisa, and am stunned that anyone feels that this botched-up job is in any way an improvement.
  18. Proposed plat. Urban Meridian Group at 4808 Gibson St. https://urbanmeridian.com
  19. Triten Real Estate Partners will be redeveloping the Iron Mountain building in West University at 3502 Bissonnet Street. I'd imagine it will be a residential conversion, but it could be a demolition and rebuild. https://tritenre.com/projects/3502-bissonnet 3502 Bissonnet is a 27,900 square-foot industrial facility on 1.61 acres of land located in Houston's West U District. Triten purchased the property in the Summer of 2022 from Iron Mountain who had been operating in the space for the last 30 years and who will continue to lease the property for the next 2 years.

  21. Former spot of Aramco Services Building. 17.2 acres for sale. I wonder what will go in? 17.2-Acres For Sale At 9009 West Loop S. If something big goes in, we can move this into the Going Up forum. http://www.cushmanwakefield.us/en/properties/s119411211-1
  22. This place is gonna be huge. Also, what is a curtain-wall high-rise? http://www.bizjourna...-sets-huge.html http://www.generationpark.com/ Last year's info from Swamplot http://swamplot.com/...ark/2011-06-09/
  23. Anyone seen that nasty yellow skinny building near Richmond and the loop 610? That thing is way too skinny. Typically the buildings height shouldn't be more than 6 times the length of its base. I believe that building has about a 10:1 ratio. What do you guys think the over/under is on how many days before that building falls to the ground due to inadequate structure? I say about.....650 days... a little less than 2 years from the building's date of substantial completion. Well, we'll say from the date the owner received his/her Certificate of Occupancy. Thoughts? Comments?? Compliments??? LATER, The big KOK-on Steeeeeeeeel, baby!
