  1. NRP Group is developing a 4-Story and 326-Unit multifamily project in the Energy Corridor. https://www.nrpgroup.com/ Apparently it's the old Kickerillo family mansion. http://www.city-data.com/forum/houston/2850981-rumor-mill-what-will-built-site.html The Kickerillo family mansion, a 12000+ sq feet 1970s contemporary sitting on several acres of land at the west end of Memorial Drive, has just been demolished after flooding badly during Harvey (the entire property sits within the 500-year floodplain).
  2. (Katy, Texas) October 8, 2015 – The City of Katy is pleased to announce that the Katy Development Authority has taken a key step forward in the development of the Boardwalk District (as shown in the accompanying rendering) by entering into an agreement with Sueba USA Corporation for the development of a 22-acre parcel located adjacent to Katy Mills Mall. Sueba USA Corporation intends to use the parcel to construct a high quality mixed-use development consisting of loft living space, retail and restaurant facilities, and a public plaza. Sueba USA Corporation’s development will be a strong addition to the Boardwalk District which will also include a convention center, hotel, and restaurant row, all anchored by an 89-acre nature park with a central lake, boardwalks, nature preserves, and a 2-mile walking trail system. Construction of the nature park will commence this winter with an anticipated completion and public opening by the end of 2016. Katy Development Authority and Sueba USA Corporation are excited to be joint participants in the construction of the Boardwalk District — a project that will provide Katy residents and visitors an additional first class development to live, work and play. Katy Development Authority was formed by the City of Katy, Texas to promote economic development through public-private partnerships that support the completion of public infrastructure and high quality private development. Sueba USA Corporation is a Houston based real estate development company that is an established leader in the acquisition, development, construction, and management of both residential and commercial real estate.

  5. There is a request for a variance pending before the planning commission for Oct 2 for the Freedman's distributor site on Waverly and W 6th down below the bike path. 8.65 acres. Seeking a building line variance from 25 feet to 10 feet. No indication what, if anything, is planned for the property. Freedam's looks to have been bought out by Grocer's Supply. The latter also has been consolidating operations into a new space in the 1st ward. No idea whether they are going to sell, are selling or have sold or whether they will redevelop the property with modern warehouse space.
  6. Jalapenos, the colorful restaurant near the corner of Kirby and Westheimer, will close its doors a the end of the year to make way for a huge new development on the land where the eatery has stood for 18 years. Recent Company News
  7. Is this guy b.s. or what? I haven't heard anything about it: "Dudes and Ladies, I was very upset when I heard from a business owner in River Oaks Plaza that later this year, early next, they are getting rid of the theater to put in a 30 story high-rise. word is, they are axing black eyed pea too, for a multi-level parking garage." You can read the rest here: http://members.boardhost.com/hands_up/msg/1151627265.html Anyone know anything?
  8. This thread was originally created August 29, 2019. I'm reposting / reupping this because this post and other content from me are no longer available on the forum. An archive link will be posted soon. An archive link to this thread before its deletion is here. Mods, please don't move this to the Heights forum where all of my other Washington Corridor and Rice Military, and Garden Oaks/Oak Forest posts were moved to this week. This is NOT in the Heights and it's not part of the Greater Heights area. It's an entirely different area that as suggested and advocated for previously needs its own area forum. There is lots of development happening here, much spurred by the Sawyer Yards and Buffalo Heights developments, which usually merits the creation of a new neighborhood forum. Thanks. 1624 West 34th St in the Central Northwest area of Houston: Street View

  12. Colorado Group Plans $80M Mixed-Use, Infill Project By Jennifer D. Duell Last updated: July 19, 2005 08:23am HOUSTON-Within three years, a mixed-use project is expected to rise on Block 98, a piece of vacant land adjacent to the new city park and the George R. Brown Convention Center. Two companies from Colorado Springs, LandCo Properties LLC and Equity Edge LLC, have formed a partnership to transform the 1.5-acre tract into two residential high-rises with ground-floor retail space. Block 98 is bordered by Rusk, Crawford, Walker and LaBranch streets near Toyota Center. Each tower will contain 150 units that will be priced "for the young, single professional," says Michael Raider, LandCo's COO. He tells GlobeSt.com that construction will begin in about three years. "That's when the market will be ready," he says, explaining one tower will have rental housing and the other will be condos. "I am not sure that we'll break ground on both towers at the same time." Raider, a Houston native, was eyeing Block 98 about a year before he closed the deal with Crescent Real Estate Equities Co. for $6.5 million. "We see Houston as Denver about seven years ago with the new light rail, entertainment and park creation. Denver is just a huge residential market right now," he says, "and we think Houston is following right behind it." Raider's not yet selected the project architect, but says he's hoping to use a local firm. The partnership, Block 98 Partners Ltd., obtained a $4.9-million loan from Southern National Bank of Texas to acquire the land. Tucker Knight, a director with Holliday Fenoglio Fowler LP's local office, arranged a three-year bridge loan with an adjustable interest rate. The Block 98 development will be the second project that LandCo has tackled in Houston's CBD. The company recently acquired the former Days Inn Hotel at 801 St. Joseph Parkway for redevelopment into 251 luxury apartments and retail space. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2006, with units delivering in early 2007.
  13. Which building has the bell tower downtown? Is it the Esperson Building? Is it a real bell, or speakers? I love hearing this. You can really hear it well in the parking garages along Fannin. It's the best when the clock strikes 12.
  14. Noticed this on Loopnet. 2828 Southwest Fwy - Four Points by Sheraton Greenway Plaza https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2828-Southwest-Fwy-Houston-TX/23923870/ The Property is situated on 2.38 acres (103,569 square feet) of land, presenting a rare opportunity for a developer with flexibility to reposition or redevelop the Property into a different asset type. Alternatively, a new hotel investor will have the opportunity to realize the significant upside of acquiring and renovating an asset in a highly desirable submarket, substantially below replacement cost.
  15. HOUSTON — Harrison Kane of Rockspring Properties represented the seller of 2.77 acres at 3409 Brinkman St. in the Garden Oaks area just off W. 34th. Along with the land came a 38,000 SF flex building with an ambulance services tenant. The buyer was Braun Enterprises, which plans to redevelop the site in the future. https://realtynewsreport.com/rnr-real-estate-briefs-hou-aus-dal-sat-and-more-14/
