  2. Just ran across this by way of a search on HAR: Da Vinci Court They are townhouses in the 1500 block of North Main and apparently is the first project in the Hardy Railyard development. They look very nice. Has anyone been by there lately? Are these already under construction? Well, I just did the virtual tour on the website and it appears that some of them have already been built. Is that correct?
  3. Proposed 21-story high-rise development at Bunker Hill Rd & I-10. There's also an office building shown but it's unlikely to be built anytime soon. Site is currently being used as a staging area for Hotel Zaza.
  4. As we have moved through 3 years of discussion and planning a new building for Bellaire HS, I have committed to keep you as informed as possible. Among starts and stops, I have been proud of the manner in which our community has supported the Bellaire Project Advisory Team (PAT). Additionally, I have appreciated the commitment the Houston ISD has made to continue to search and explore all alternatives in the search for the best possible solution to a very challenging project - specifically - trying to rebuild Bellaire HS in our current 17 acre site while continuing to house and educate our 3500 student population. This was always going to take a large number of people working in concert and that has remained true. That being said, I am excited to share what is the most promising and exciting news so far about the Bellaire project. Monday afternoon the HISD Bond Department presented the new direction for Bellaire at the scheduled PAT Meeting. Based on the overall $136M budget for a new Bellaire HS, the recommendation is below: Spend majority of current project dollars to purchase the “Chevron Site” located at 4800 Fournace - which is at the northern tip of the City of Bellaire (approximately 30 acres) Commit funds to renovate elements of the current property at 5100 Maple so as to sustain the current facility as we wait for construction at the new site to begin. This decision would likely necessitate that Bellaire HS be added to a future bond of which a certain date is not known. However the district would have secured property that is appropriately sized for a large 6A High School. While this new direction brings great optimism to our project it does have some caveats. It will need HISD Board of Trustee Support. Successful negotiation with Chevron to purchase the property. City of Bellaire zoning changes that align with our educational need. This new plan is a recent development for our project and, once presented to the PAT, there were many questions asked. I am confident that the HISD Bond department will continue to work diligently to collect any requested information and appropriately present it at a future meeting. I am hopeful that you share my same sense of optimism and that you are excited about the opportunity to participate in helping us make this our reality. Our Board Trustee, Mike Lunceford, was in attendance for the meeting and he stated that this proposal could be shared with the Board of Trustees for consideration as soon as the next October meeting. While our work is not complete and the journey will be long, I am encouraged by the long term vision inherent in this new plan. I believe it has the best chance to work for our students, faculty, staff and community. I appreciate your continued support. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. enjoy the day, michael http://www.houstonisd.org/site/default.aspx?PageType=3&ModuleInstanceID=117408&ViewID=7B97F7ED-8E5E-4120-848F-A8B4987D588F&RenderLoc=0&FlexDataID=181919&PageID=81504

  8. Spec's is coming to Montrose!! Montrose and Westheimer next to Half Price Books in the shopping center on the corner to be exact. The space has stood empty for a while. Recently I walked past the unoccupied location and noticed a wall of coolers had been installed, my first thought was grocery store, but today on my way home, a sign company had plastered a paper layout on the wall so that they could install the electrical part of a new sign, I drove by slowly and barely made out the name of the infamous Rabbit's home!! Spec's Liquor Warehouse. Let's get our drinks on Montrose!
  9. This looks interesting. To be built near the current Sam Moon shopping center on the east side of 45. http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/woodlands/business/article/Growth-continues-in-Shenandoah-with-new-6191521.php#photo-7797434

  11. So recently I've picked up an interest in the late Shamrock Hotel, but this especially caught my eye: Glenn McCarthy. I'm curious as to whether there are any renderings of this--an indoor shopping complex seems very forward thinking and probably would be the first true indoor regional mall if built. Anyone have more details on this? Wyatt C. Hedrick (often misspelled as Wyatt C. Hendrick)
  12. The architectural, historical, and cultural icons of Katy must be saved! I think they would make great apartments. Imagine living in the "Rice Tower" with massive concrete walls for insulation and punched out windows with stunning views of the big box development, mall parking lots, and unchecked suburban sprawl. I bet it would sell like hot cakes!
  13. http://www.khou.com/news/local/stories/kho....1fc767358.html Thieves park and pilfer at Park 'N Ride lot 08:51 AM CDT on Thursday, April 21, 2005 By Jeff McShan / 11 News More than a dozen angry commuters could be found among the shattered glass and broken car locks at a Park 'N Ride lot at the Addicks location on Old Katy Road in the far west side of Houston. As each bus pulled into the lot, more and more passengers, like Noelle Stewart, immediately reached for their cell phones. "I said whoever did this job over here, they was having party with the cars for a long time. There wasn't no police, no security, no nothing," says one victim. All of the victims were surprised by the lack of security. There are cameras and security tower, but no one was inside. ...........................
  14. Any updates regarding this shopping center? It's located at Stella Link & South Braeswood. The shopping center has been doing very poorly over the years. Lots of vacancies and no remodels. Looked around on DMRE's website today. Looks like the property was sold. 9.70 acres. Future housing or a major retail redevelopment? https://dmre.com/property/stella-link-and-braeswood-9-70-acres/ Old site plan.
  15. Stealing from Urbanizer's post last month here: https://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/51555-4701-westheimer-rd-potential-mixed-use-development/ https://www.broadviewcapital.com/projects There is also plans for new construction in Sugar Land. It's a weird little triangle piece of land wedged between Best Buy and the Southwest Freeway - just south of First Colony Blvd.

  17. Looked everywhere for this one. There was one mention in the Camp Strake thread. Its massive enough to have its own mega thread, but way to far out to be in "Going Up". Since we don't have a dedicated Woodlands, Spring, and Anything Further Out subforum, I'll be posting this here. Originally conceived in 2015 this one has taken awhile to get going (possibly due to Harvey), but have already started on phase 1 which is mostly low-rise residential and big box stores, which is something we don't touch on this forum. Its the "Urban Living", "Town Center" and "Business Center" that would get our attention. For info on phase 1 developments there is an article in HBJ: https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/blog/breaking-ground/2014/08/camp-strake-property-to-include-750k-square-feet.html Now for the real meat of the project. 18. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2022/08/02/one-sixty-one-friendswood-mixed-use-district-hotel.html Banfield Properties of Friendswood is planning a small mixed-use development featuring a 4-story "boutique" hotel, 4 story apartment building and a restaurant/event space with a parking garage. 20. Is there already a thread for this project? The article says it will be a $1 Billion mixed use project just east of BP and could include hotel, apartments, office and retail. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/Exclusive-Big-real-estate-project-headed-for-5149772.php
  21. A recent community impact article mentions some possible developments for the old TI land...let's just say I know something about this and an verify some things going on over there... I was never here[ninja]
  22. Looks to be a mixed-use development looking for investors. Can anyone make out the exact location? The event was held April 18th Edit: So I searched for the Hilton Garden Inn where the event was held and it turns out the hotel matches the one in the background (lower left corner). Site for this proposal is a grass field along  Sam Houston Parkway

  24. Looks like HEB is really pushing hard for their new urban concept... this could be a large development (just my speculation). no mention of mixed use but it looks like their urban concepts are shooting for that where feasible and this would certainly be a feasible location. http://www.chron.com/business/real-estate/article/H-E-B-planning-Upper-Kirby-land-buy-11743119.php?ipid=ntk
