Check out this massive Ranchero Deluxe on Glen Arbor. Looks like something from Glenbrook Valley. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r85/zoo...pg?t=1177219198 http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r85/zoo...pg?t=1177219265

anyone familiar with this home or the architect (John R. Dossey) who is supposedly building its replacement? The 1955 home is gone (or very soon to be), and was located just south of Beechnut between S. Rice and Ferris. http://i18.tinypic.com/5zmspas.jpg

Does anyone know anything about the area of town where this address is located 8127 Braesview Lane, Houston 77071? I'd appreciate hearing anything about the neighborhood positive, negative, including individual opinions. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

This is a great site. Until I found it, I knew nothing about mod houses, but by reading it, I'm learning a lot about mod houses and am seriously considering purchasing one. I found the following house on zip realty and want to know if it is a mod house, where in Houston it is located. I think this house is wonderful although compared to the prices of other mod houses, this one seems expensive 449,500. I'd love to hear what some of you mod enthusiasts think about this house.

It's now an apartment complex and probably some of the parking lot of the movie multiplex. To the neighborhood kids of the 60s and 70s, it was just "the woods." It was where the kids got away from their parents to do their smoking, toking, drinking and all the other "ing" things that they weren't suppose to be doing. I tried hiding my Playboy stash out there once, carefully bagging it in plastic and carefully tucking my treasure under some rocks, but somebody discovered it and took it. I remember coming across a yucky matress and a makeshift shelter of plywood with cigarette butts, empty liquor bottles, etc all around it. Strange thing was, there was evidence galore of people coming and going, but we rarely ran into anyone else. The occasional bb gun dude, but 90% of the time, you felt like you had all the acreage to yourself. Seems like a weird thing to feel nostalgic for.

New to Houston and looking for great restaurants that a single guy with a limited budget should check out. I'm not a good cook and fast food is getting old. I'm in Meyerland. Thanks!

4927 Yarwell will be open Sunday from 2-4. A good example of how a Mid-Century Mod can be redone with "today's" modern elements.

Hey guys, hope this is the right forum. I have been driving to the medical center a lot lately for my dad, and I have noticed a few rather nice houses going up on the inbound side of Braeswood before the Med Center that remind me of F.L. Write designed homes. I am probably grossly misjudging the inspiration, but from the exterior they are nice. Anyone here involved with those? Is this the next aesthetic trend here in Houston or is Spanish/Mediteranian going to continue to go strong? If anyone has pictures, I would be appreciative.
