Ladies and gentlemen, we finally have two co-anchors for KPRC-TV's weekend evening newscasts, which means Phillip Mena no longer has to do the weekend newscasts by himself. Syan Rhodes was promoted as the station's weekend evening anchor, which was confirmed by the NBC affiliate's executive producer Rick McFarland told mikemcguff.com. "I'm excited and very thankful for the opportunity," Rhodes told mikemcguff.com. Plus, she's a native Houstonian, who's glad to come back home to the Bayou City. Gayle Anderson (1986-1991): "2 On Your Side" Reporter/Midday Anchor (now with KTLA-TV) Wes Hohenstein (2003-2006): (Weekday Morning Meteorologist): [now with WNCN-TV in Raleigh, NC] Kay Bailey Hutchison (1967-1972): first female TV reporter at the station; later went on to serve in the TX House of Representatives (1973-1977); won 5 statewide elections as TX State Treasurer (1991-1993) & United States Senator (1993-2013): her last campaign ended embarrassingly as she got crushed by Governor Perry in the March 2nd, 2010 GOP Gubernatorial Primary by 20 + percentage points. KPRC-TV NBC 2 Houston is turning into a revolving door & it's happening again: Weekend evening news anchor Irika Sargent will be leaving the Houston NBC station after three years & heading for WFOR-TV Miami, where she will join the CBS 4 news team in May. She will partner with Rick Folbaum to co-anchor the station's weekday early evening & 11:00 PM newscasts. Mike McGuff of McGuff Blog has reported the story.
