March 23, 2005, 11:14PM At Memorial City, a lifestyle in development Project will surround mall with residences, offices By DAVID KAPLAN and NANCY SARNOFF ------------------- This message has been edited to remove copyrighted material. 2. I was looking through Metro's website for updates on MetroNext, and found this powerpoint from a meeting that apparently happened about a week ago. According to the presentation, the whole project is already funded through the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s Transportation Improvement Program (and as I understand it, the root of much of that money is TXDOT), and the first public meeting is happening by the end of February. We've already seen preliminary designs for the two middle stations, and the whole thing seems pretty straightforward. It's the only major project from MetroNext that's under the "in progress" category . . . anyone think we'll see ground breaking this year?

  5. https://realtynewsreport.com/interra-buys-energy-corridor-building/ "HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Interra Capital Group acquired Memorial Pointe, a 226,586-SF office building in West Houston’s Energy Corridor, according to JLL Capital Markets. The JLL team was led by Senior Director Rick Goings from Capital Markets, and Senior Managing Director Tom Hall and Managing Director Chad Coluccio from the Loan Sales group. Memorial Pointe is an 11-story, Class B office building that has undergone multiple upgrades since 2017, including a renovated lobby. The building boasts an average suite size of 2,600 SF, which is well-suited to meet the submarket’s smaller tenant base. Memorial Pointe is currently 25 percent leased."
  6. Proposed 21-story high-rise development at Bunker Hill Rd & I-10. There's also an office building shown but it's unlikely to be built anytime soon. Site is currently being used as a staging area for Hotel Zaza.

  9. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/business/3721563.html The investment group would like one more traffic generator to go with Edward's Cinema. Curious who they have in mind.
  10. there has been a sign for over a year now off the north i-10 feeder past barker cypress for a new texas childrens hospital. has anyone heard anymore about this new development? and is interfin ever going to develop the land north of i-10 at grand parkway because that was where the 'new' galleria was supposed to be built. I think they are in impending lawsuits with katy mills mall, but I am not too sure.
  11. We had dinner at Goode Co Seafood Friday night. Our waiter told us they are moving across the parking lot to a new site in the building closer to I-10. Indeed, there is a restaurant being fitted-out there. What makes this interesting is that he told us that they're moving because their current building is being demolished to make room for a new high rise with ground floor retail. He didn't know if that included the Office Depot (and former Sports Authority) building to the west. Is this part of the Metro National property?
  12. This corner used to have Cornbreads, (as nice as it was to have a sports bar down the street from me some of the folks that went there where kinda thuggish), Schlotzkiz (spelling?), CiCi's Pizza, and the Asian Supermarket. It's all gone now! There is a sign up for "Cherry Companies", who I guess is either the Demo company or the General Contractor. I'm wondering if anyone has a clue as to what will be constructed here?
  13. Oh god. I somehow always forget how awful I-10 is.
  14. Methodist plans hospital on west side Completion of 192-bed facility expected in 2010 By LYNN COOK Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle The Methodist Hospital System will spend $300 million to build a 192-bed hospital in west Houston, hospital executives announced Friday. The hospital, with an emergency room, open-heart surgery capability and cancer treatment areas, will be on the north side of the Katy Freeway just west of Barker Cypress, Methodist president and CEO Ron Girotto said in a statement. Construction is scheduled to start early next year, with completion by 2010. The Methodist hospital site is directly next door to a 55-acre tract where construction will begin on Texas Children's Hospital West in 2008. That $220 million pediatric project is expected to be complete in 2010 as well. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/business/5290481.html

  16. About 6 months ago, I heard a rumor about Central Market. The rumormill said that Oshman's (on the corner of Gessner and I-10) was going to move into the old Service Merchandise store (about 1/2 mile west) and Central Market was going to take over the Oshman's location. Well, for the past 6 months, it's been mostly a rumor but we've been watching with interest as the old Service Merchandise store got a facelift. Sure enough, a banner was just hung on the facade announcing that the store would be an Oshman's. So... one down, one to go? Personally, I'm thrilled about having a Central Market nearby if the rest of the rumor is true.
  17. Noticed an MRI replacement registered with TLDR. Building is located at 8333 Katy Freeway.
  18. From today's Memorial section of the Chronicle. http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/memorial/news/article/Corridor-to-develop-master-plan-5576265.php The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center is planning a West Campus along Park Row to the east of the Addicks Park and Ride.
  19. Crowne Plaza Hotel At Galleria located at 7611 Katy Fwy. Renovations coming soon? A lot of the Crowne Plaza Hotels are rebranding. Covid really took out a lot of the class-b hotels. Seeing it everywhere. https://www.ihg.com/crowneplaza/hotels/us/en/houston/houtg/hoteldetail
  20. http://www.trinity.edu/mkearl/death02/deat...e/01Define.html is likely to get a "modern" neighbor. The site is on Memorial Woods Drive, 77024, facing the Katy Freeway directly west and south of its interchange with 610. Kirksey has designed a 16-storey speculative office building and 1,500-space parking garage on what is currently First Baptist Houston's west lot. First Baptist's homepage suggests, "Parking off-site is one of the easiest ways that HFBC members can support the church's ministry. Doing so opens up on-site spaces for visitors, families with young children and individuals with physical limitations. Refer to the online map for available parking options, shuttle routes, and drop-off/pick-up locations." From the day we moved to this location (April 17, 1977), finding room for parking has been a challenge. In fact, the first published "master plan" for this site specified a parking garage on the west parking lot. Since that time, financial constraints and questions concerning feasibility have thwarted at least three attempts to construct a parking garage. This opportunity is the first that brings no additional financial obligation to HFBC and actually returns funds to HFBC in the form of lease payments to the church and the elimination to the church of parking leases and shuttle fees. In April of 2007, representatives of the Gerald Hines Company met with Pastor Gregg and several Deacons to explore the possibility of commercial development on our west parking lot which would include a parking garage containing about 1500 spaces. Following the meeting, Hines paid for a feasibility study including traffic, engineering and architectural issues. In a presentation to the Deacons in August of 2007, Hines asked for a vote of approval to investigate the economic viability of such a project. Now, in January of 2008, they are asking for a congregational vote ensuring the "surety of the proposal." In other words, if Hines can locate the tenants, Trustees of HFBC have the authority to enter into a ground lease. Garage construction would begin no earlier than January 2009 and take approximately 1 year to complete, while the office tower will begin upon 40% pre-leasing. Fun-to-learn-from bunches of renderings, site plans, floorplans and graphical timeline in http://www.houstonsfirst.org/pdf/hines.pdf , so I won't merely post the pictures.
