The city of Houston has moved from BETA(+) to ALPHA(-) according to the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC). That's 6 spots higher to Number 35 in the World. ALPHA Class cities are defined as; cities that are highly integrated areas, filling advanced service needs. They've been reconstructing all of Yupon St. from Westheimer to W. Alabama for a about a month now. The entire street got improved storm and drains. The reconstruction is a bit odd with this one though. Some areas are getting new sidewalks and drives while others aren't. Its not a complete redo like they did with First Montrose Commons. Its your basic concrete curbs with sloped asphalt. Glad this is being done regardless as the streets on this part of Montrose are plain terrible. Do we know if this is happening throughout the neighborhood? Pics below:
Riding my bike down buffalo bayou today and I ran across Buffalo Bayou Partnership working on the trails on the South side of the Bayou East of Jensen. They were clearing trees and preping for more bike trails. Also talking with them they have the contract to finish the trail on the North side and have access to KBR lots property. Other cool stuff going on is the boat racing down there.
