  2. Not surprising. It would only have made sense to try to re-open it if they could double-decker it and that might not have been worth the investment. From discussions on Next Door it seems quite a few homeowners in Meyerland are hoping for a Fema buyout offer and the population of the neighborhood is probably going to decline. A thread on Next Door today says a new 85,000 sq. ft. location with Kosher bakery and deli will be announced by the end of the month. Another poster says the deal is not final but close. That's 'new' and 'to be announced' so presumably it's some
  3. Looks like HEB is really pushing hard for their new urban concept... this could be a large development (just my speculation). no mention of mixed use but it looks like their urban concepts are shooting for that where feasible and this would certainly be a feasible location. http://www.chron.com/business/real-estate/article/H-E-B-planning-Upper-Kirby-land-buy-11743119.php?ipid=ntk
  4. 21423 Aldine Westfield Road, Humble TX 53.98 acres sold by NewQuest to HEB This is a triangle shaped area intersects FM 1960/Treaschwig Rd/ Aldine-Westfield Road. http://www.newquest.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/53.98_Acres_FM_1960.pdf Currently the land is being cleared, but no signs or web info on the project. Very old farm buildings demo'ed plus old trees. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2016/05/25/heres-what-h-e-b-is-cookin-up-in-houston.html Article above details the sale, but I do not have access to a sub so I am not sure the details
  5. Didnt know where to post this. http://houston.culturemap.com/news/city-life/05-18-16-10-million-game-changing-makeover-for-h-towns-ultimate-gourmet-grocery/#slide=0
  6. I figured I'd start a thread to see if anyone else had any information about this possible development. In some of New Quest's marketing diagrams for Brazos Town Center, they've shown a proposed HEB at the northeast corner of the Southwest Freeway and FM 762 - directly across the road from Brazos Town Center and next door to the Del Webb community. I know that I've heard from a few local residents about plans for a store there over the past few months, but not much else as of late. Anyone?

  8. With all this residential development going on downtown, it leaves me wondering if the retail will follow shortly after? Particularly grocery stores. To my knowledge, the closest thing to a full sized grocery store in downtown is Phoenicia. Randalls midtown is more or less close as well. When do you think a major grocer will consider moving into downtown? Who do you think will be the first one to make a move? Will it be as part of a mixed use development? Ground level of some tower? or stand alone? Right in downtown? or immediate vicinity, such as a 2nd midtown store, Eado or the near
  9. Do you think Oak Forest or Garden Oaks will ever get a HEB. Would love to see one in the old Northwest Mall.
  10. I searched for a thread in this but didn't see one. The realtor has for years put up all these signs saying it's back. To me, this is certainly a place for apts and GFR. Why, in this market is the shopping center dead except for Amy's Ice Cream and Freebirds? I would post a photo of it but don't know how yet.
  11. Not much more than a rumor...But... There was some conversation on Swamplot earlier this week about the possibility of HEB building a store on the KBR Site. This kind of washes with the proposed 380/Retail Incentive programs being discussed with in the Business Journal. For what it worth...I saw "Scott" (The guy from the HEB Commercials) at an East Side Restaurant a couple weeks ago. Has anyone else heard anything about this? Apparently, there is some kind of meeting on Nov 8th, where this may be discussed. But, I have no idea what that may be.
  12. Hi everyone, I didn't see any topic about this so I will post it. So this is an HEB on San Felipe and Fountain view and on the south of this lot it's reserved for a 5 acre 400 room high end apartments. I will try to post pictures every week or two. 1. 13. When did H-E-B open in Houston proper? The Fountainview H-E-B opened in 2001 according to Yelp and was the first one according to them, but on the bayou (Braes Bayou?) there's a tiny store that was almost certainly an H-E-B Pantry (facade similar), and it IS in Houston.
  14. http://swamplot.com/doctors-without-borders-kelsey-seybold-clinic-taking-over-pole-position-at-meyerland-plaza/2012-07-18/ where are there other examples of medical biz setting up new facilities to cash in on the affordable care act? Either in previuosly underserved areas, or currently well served areas?
  15. The new HEB opens Wednesday August 31, 2011 at 6am. The new store is a prototype design for the company which means it's a test design. The store consist of 104,000 square feet, the largest of the now 4 HEBs in the Woodlands area. Key elements of the store include a larger Produce department, larger Healthy Living department, Cafe on the Run, overall better layout, Larger Central Checkout, 18 straight lined registers, and beautiful exterior. This layout and store format was also used on the new Sugarland store which opens in September.
  16. Does anyone know what is being built at the pad site beside the HEB gas station on Pin Oak?
  17. There was construction going on at the very end of the HEB shopping center closest to Seven Meadows drive...I think it is called El Rancho. It looks like it has been finished for a while but I haven't been able to tell if it is open or not. Does anybody have any insight? If it is open, have you tried it and what did you think?
  18. I don't live in Houston, and have scaled back my posts as such. But I was at the local H-E-B today and there was a large placard displaying H-E-B prices vs. Kroger with the Kroger card and H-E-B prices vs. Randalls with the Randalls card. Given there are no Randalls in College Station (the only Randalls converted to Albertson's in 1997, and now that's the last Albertson's in town), I figured those things are all over the Houston H-E-Bs as well. What say you?
  19. Is looking like its going to be a master-piece! I love the way it engages the street, going right up to the setback instead of putting the parking lot in front. Has a butterfly roof. Really looking forward to this. Will take some pictures.
  20. ...at Friday, 7PM, more or less. I was first drawn to the large tent near it, but there were flashing lights there, too! What happened?
  21. I noticed a few public notice signs at the apartments at Washington and Waugh announcing an application to redevelop. Anyone have any idea what's up with that?
  22. With the opening of the new HEB at Coles Crossing will they be closing the HEB at the corner of Barker Cypress and 529?
  23. We have been shopping at the Fiesta on Shepherd the past few weeks. (Trying, once again, to find the best grocery in this area.) We've noticed that since the refacing they've also changed some things inside. We're noticing more "yuppie" food. (Buddy's chicken, a new deli area -- among other items.) Our neighbor went shopping there recently and the manager approached her and told her to request anything she didn't find. I know that Fiesta has a more neighborhood centered approach to their stores. I've also been impressed with the management at various locations over the years...they s
  24. Didn't know if anyone was privy to what, if anything, will be added to Gulfgate. There is still the huge empty land between 610 and Donaraki. Also there appears to be some kind of construction action in the parking lot in front of the Marshalls.
  25. About 6 months ago, I heard a rumor about Central Market. The rumormill said that Oshman's (on the corner of Gessner and I-10) was going to move into the old Service Merchandise store (about 1/2 mile west) and Central Market was going to take over the Oshman's location. Well, for the past 6 months, it's been mostly a rumor but we've been watching with interest as the old Service Merchandise store got a facelift. Sure enough, a banner was just hung on the facade announcing that the store would be an Oshman's. So... one down, one to go? Personally, I'm thrilled about having a Central Market
