  1. MD Anderson has office space in the GreenPark One Medical Office Building located at 7515 Main Street. I thought recently there was a change of ownership in the GreenPark buildings? I remember a few months ago there was building signage being removed. I stopped by today to snap a quick photo. It's actually not a bad looking MOB. Has that "tower" look. Gensler designed this?
  2. Gensler designed the GreenPark II Medical Office Building located at 7505 South Main Street. MD Anderson and Texas Children's Hospital leases space here. I stopped by today to snap a picture.
  3. Pagewood and Wile Interests plan to redevelop 10 blocks in EaDo into a mixed use development, including many Houston favorites. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/11/13/pagewood-wile-interests-develop-east-blocks-eado.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_27&cx_artPos=0#cxrecs_s
  4. https://riverdistrictnola.com/ Earlier renderings Current site plan Shell is moving from its longtime landmark tower, Hancock Whitney Center (One Shell Square), to this location in 2025. https://www.nola.com/news/business/shell-relocating-to-new-orleans-river-district/article_3702619e-5284-11ee-aebf-a3ae82f73371.html "When the mid-rise building is completed in early 2025, Shell’s 800 local employees will relocate there from the Hancock Whitney Center, the skyscraper that has housed Shell’s local operations since 1972 and until recently was known as One Shell Square. Though much of New Orleans' energy industry has decamped for Houston over the years, Shell, which has its North American headquarters there, has kept a sizeable presence in the Crescent City. Agreeing to a 12-year lease in a building constructed to its specifications should quiet worries about losing another major employer, and may help economic development officials as they try to lure other companies to the metro area."
  5. Does anyone recall this awesome mixed-use project? It's from a Gensler employee named Jorge A. Tiscareno. Looks like he's now a director at PBK. I haven't seen this particular project posted on HAIF, but his other renderings in his portfolio has been posted used for years. Very cool find!! The portfolio is dated 2013, so any proposed projects at that time probably never made it. I believe I know exactly where this is located! Either one of two areas. Houston Methodist's surface lot and the cluster of old buildings on South Braeswood & Bertner. Or the vacant parcel on South Braeswood & Fannin Let's get it built!! 10. Will this 1954 building originally called the MD Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute ever be demolished? Isn't there another name for it? Edit: The (modern) name is Gimbel Building. https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/opinion-files/opinion/1962/ww-1369.pdf "An official opinion of your office is requested on the following factual situation in connection with the administration of the Estate of Mose A. Gimbel, deceased, wherein The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute has been designated as a beneficiary pursuant to paragraph 4 of the will which reads: "'It Is my will and I do hereby provide that my said Trustee shall hold and administer my estate for one year after the death of my said sister, or until the New Medical Center adjoining Hermann Hospital is developed, when my remaining estate shall be liquidated and my entire estate remaining estate shall be used for the erection of a building In said Medical Center, said building to be used for the purpose of advancing the cure of cancer; said building to be dedicated in memory of my beloved parents, Louis and Amelia Gimbel.' "Mr. Gimbel of Houston, Harris County, Texas, executed his will on August 9, 1950, in conformity with law and later on October 7, 1954, executed a codicil. The will was admitted to probate in October, 1958, in the Probate Court of Harris County, Texas. The Executors, the Texas National Rank of Houston, who is also the Trustee under Honorable J. C. Dolley, page 2 (w-1369) said will, and Herbert S. Gimbel of Miami, Florida, have designated The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute as the institution to receive the remainder of the estate. Present plans call for a new building on the north end of the Clinical Services Wing which will have seven floors with approximately 4,200 square feet of space to each floor, giving a total additional area of approximately 29,400 square feet. This building will be erected on a basement and ground floor which was provided in an earlier construction program. It will be erected as a separate building and operated as an Integral part of the M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, an Institution established for the purpose of research for advancing the cure of cancer. The building will be dedicated to the memory of the parents of Mose A. Gimbel, namely, Louis and Amelia Gimbel. There is attached to this request for your information a brochure containing the construction plan, the various departments to be housed in the building, together with a data sheet containing general information as to the organizational framework of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute.

  16. Covenant House Texas expanding services https://www.tmc.edu/news/2019/08/covenant-house-texas-expanding-services/ The organization has launched a capital campaign—Building for Life, Homelessness to Hope—that aims to raise about $25 million over the next three to five years, Executive Director Leslie Bourne said. In July, Covenant House Texas purchased an office building across the street, on Lovett Boulevard. The structure will be a key component of a campus reconstruction and expansion project. To bring attention to this daily crisis, Texas Medical Center President and CEO William “Bill” McKeon will oversee Covenant House Texas’ largest annual fundraiser on Nov. 21. As honorary chair of the 2019 Sleep Out: Executive Edition, McKeon hopes to raise $1 million by seeking the commitment of Houston business leaders—many of whom will spend the night outside to more closely connect with the reality of homelessness. “We’re here to draw awareness to some- thing we drive by every day and don’t see,” McKeon said during a spring luncheon with young adults on campus, noting that youth aren’t top-of-mind for many people who think about or encounter the homeless.
  17. I saw this on a walk today: I hadn’t seen this before. It’s a block to the north of the Houston Center. I’m assuming it’s Block 97 given the email contact. Edit: To clarify, this is specifically to the north of the Fulbright Tower.
