  1. The speed at which Fulshear has grown, particularly in the past decade, has led the community to work on developing a transit feasibility study. Fort Bend County page w/ comprehensive outline of the findings: https://www.fortbendcountytx.gov/government/departments/public-transportation/fulshear-transit-feasibility-study/overview-and-final-report Recent article https://communityimpact.com/houston/katy/transportation/2022/09/02/fulshear-transit-study-results-to-guide-next-steps-in-citys-mobility/ Because I'm too lazy to summarize the finer points, here's a graphic from the article.

  3. Earlier this year, the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court approved development of a new multi-purpose venue in Rosenberg. Dubbed the EpiCenter (due to it's location at the at/near the center of the County) for now, it would be constructed on the south side of the Southwest Freeway between Bamore Road and Fairgrounds Road, near the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds. Some of the residents in the adjacent Cottonwood subdivision have expressed concern about building such a venue and the impact it may have on drainage, traffic and infrastructure among other things. The city is expected to sign off on the final plat in the near future, with construction to begin soon after - and complete by the 4th quarter of 2022. Here are some renderings from the press release from the county. Video from Fort Bend County Fort Bend EpiCenter Project - YouTube

Groundbreakings will take place between now and summer 2014 on the projects. “Fort Bend continues to grow in size and population and our patients are seeking an ever broader range of sophisticated medical and surgical treatments close to home,” said Dr. Marc L. Boom, Houston Methodist CEO. The expansion kicks off in November with groundbreaking on a 9,600-square-foot emergency care center on SH 6 in Missouri City between the Sienna Plantation and Riverstone communities. The facility is scheduled to open in summer 2014 and will house 10 treatment rooms and the latest technology in diagnostic imaging equipment. A new patient tower will be added between the Sweetwater Pavilion and Main Pavilion on the Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital campus, adding 104 beds. The tower will add intensive care beds and medical-surgical beds with space remaining for future expansion. Groundbreaking will take place in the summer of 2014 with completion in 2016. The hospital is also building a facility for Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. The practice will move to a new 60,000-square-foot building on the corner of U.S. 59 and Sweetwater Boulevard.
  5. Per Bisnow, this memorial was recently dedicated in Memorial Park in Sugar Land. Haven't heard of using tilt-wall for this sort of construction before. More on the design and planning can be found here.
  6. A long time ago there was discussion about a new FBISD high school in Telfair. I thought that idea was discarded, but someone recently told me that it will happen. Does anyone know for sure and if so, what is the time frame?

  9. http://tinypic.com/k3rnro.jpg I don't think Lynn Edmundson of Historic Houston will mind my posting this press release. HOUSTON, TEXAS, January 10, 2006, Dew Plantation, Hugh Saunders Dew House 6626 Highway 6, Missouri City, Texas DeWalt Vicinity Ft. Bend County Texas The Dew Plantation house has remained in the Dew family for over a century. The plantation was originally purchased by Dr. Hugh Saunders Dew, Henry Wise Dew, and George Lewis Dew from their uncle Hugh Saunders in 1895. The land was previously known as the Belleveredere Plantation until the Dew Brothers renamed it. It was occupied by Dew family until Jessie Dew Agnew passed away. Tenants occupied the house for several years, but it has remained vacant for nearly five years.
  10. Has anyone driven this yet? I would imagine this will greatly improve the lives of people in the area between 59 and 288. This seemed to built fairly quickly. How does it tie into the beltway? Is there a ramp? Just wondering.
