I heard from someone in the real estate community that this property traded hands. Does anyone know what the new owners plans are? I believe the restaurant depot store has already shut down.

I'm certain I saw a topic about this but couldn't find it. Merge if necessary. Multi block apartments by Alliance Broadstone in Eado. Saw signs on all sides of this future project. I assume the retail portion on the northern side will continue. Sparkle burger on the southwest corner was closed and abandoned, I wonder if they moved elsewhere? They were pretty good old school burgers but don't ever order a double, they were huge.

From ze Planning Commission. Not much happening with this Agenda overall, but this project in Lawndale is looking for an off-street parking variance. 106 Unit Midrise Apartments. Definitely an odd location.

The Magnolia Fund has announced that they're under contract at 6600 Harrisburg. The Magnolia Fund is an investment fund looking to build entrepreneurial opportunities for East End residents while maintaining the neighborhood's culture. They plan to redevelop the three buildings on this lot for food entrepreneurs while also providing meeting and entertainment space. If successful, I think this project could spur a lot of development in the blocks around the Cesar Chavez stop on the Green Line. There are some really cool buildings with minimal setbacks throughout this stretch of Harrisburg that could activate the pedestrian space along the rail. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/6600-Harrisburg-Blvd-Houston-TX/20187877/ https://www.instagram.com/p/C1xVuBQOWao/?img_index=2

Waste water permits in the system for 3314 Harrisburg Blvd by Niazi Family Investments, the owners of King Fuel, Inc. (the gas station on the corner of Harrisburg + Milby). They own quite a few parcels of land in the area. In my experience, WW permits indicate the start of a project or the preparation for a land sale. Can't find any additional information on the land use plans right now. Their parent company is linked to a billion different smaller entities:

These are the first of this style of townhouse that I've seen on the east end. Harrisburg Lofts Hard to tell if these are just cheap versions of Urban Lofts but it's good to see a little touch of something, I don't know, are these considered artsy anymore? It's also good to see Harrisburg Blvd. get something like this, whereas for the past 75 years there's been nothing but industry and retail on it. I think with the art community on Commerce street east of downtown slowly spreading further east and also the anticipation of the Harrisburg Metrorail line in 11', Harrisburg will slowly develop into a cool blvd. Unfortunately, we're still in Houston. Right across from these townhouses, there's 17.5 acres cleared and under construction. With prime views of nearby downtown, I hoped something glamourous was in the works. I pulled up to the construction trailer and asked and they told me it's going to be Centerpoint Energy's warehouse complex......

Having grown up in East Houston I've always been accustomed to saying that the best Mexican restaurants are on the East side, primarily since the population is more Hispanic that side of the city. Problem is I don't really know if the ones I frequent are the best. Anyone have any nominations? One interesting restaurant, whose name I can't recall at the moment, is a Mexican seafood restauraunt that's run by Chinese! It's menu is an experiment in what some, I guess, nowdays call fusion. Instead of Spanish rice, you can have your meal with fried rice. Anyway, you wouldn't think that Chinese could run a sucessful Mexican seafood restaurant in a Hispanic neighborhood but they do. I love eating at this restaurant just because it's atmosphere is an atypical blend of two ethnicities.

Bizjournal article It's easy to forget that we have an independent university downtown UH-D / UHD with over 11,000 students. Once the rail line goes into the Near North, and with student housing there too, could that immediate area north of the campus become the beginnings of a University village, something that the main UH really doesn't have? If not another Westwood next to UCLA, it should at least add another ingredient to the new, improved recipe for renewal in that area.

Saw a sign from Ancorian in front of the blue building on the corner of McKinney + Palmer Street. Any idea what this will be? Ancorian's website doesn't have it listed.

Replaces the shuttered Chicken Station Peruvian Rotisserie. I think someone typed in one to many zeros, $20 mil to renovate an existing building seems awfully high. -
The city's database shows a demo permit on file as of Jan. 10 for 1212 Milby Street. This parcel has been for sale since last year -- there was a large for sale/lease sign out front for many months. Per the listing agent's web site, it sold at some point. https://www.colliers.com/en/properties/sold-70585-sf-building-on-311-acres/usa-1212-milby-street-houston-tx-77023/usa1093132
