He began his journalism career as a TV Reporter for KRON-TV San Francisco, CA in 1971, before joining CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston in 1973. A graduate of San Antonio College, he served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War & also served as a Marine Scout Sniper during the Tet Offensive of 1968. He & his wife, Melissa have 3 children & 2 grandchildren. Looks like people are going full beast-mode on NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston on the Houston NBC Station's early exiting from the Thursday Night Football Game between the Houston Texans @ Cincinnati Bengals last night. NBC 2 News Anchor Bill Balleza went on his Facebook page & apologized for the producer's botched mistake: http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2017/09/kprc-2s-early-exit-from-houston-texans-game-bengals.html

When former KHOU-TV/KPRC-TV news anchor Steve Smith was honored at the 12th annual Lone Star Emmy Awards with the Silver Circle Award this year, it was very difficult to see his tribute video at the beginning of the webcast. Among those, who appeared in Smith's tribute video included Ch. 13's Dave Ward, KPRC-TV's Bill Balleza, former KHOU-TV weather anchor Dr. Neil Frank, and Texas Lieutenant Governor-elect Dan Patrick ®, who used to work for KHOU-TV as a sportscaster. http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2014/11/steve-smiths-lone-star-emmy-awards-video.html

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, here's some old-time video opens from KPRC-TV NBC 2 Houston from the 1980s and early 1990s for y'all's input and comments to make about them. Here's one from November 15, 1992's weekend 10pm newscast and note they've still got the downtown news set (which is expanded), but they've removed the "Channel Two News" sign at the very top of the set. January 9, 1991 Nightcast 10pm open from April 19, 1989 with Ron Stone, Jan Carson, Doug Johnson & Craig Roberts: November 5, 1991: Election Results coverage of KPRC-TV: December 30, 1987 10pm newscast: I'm going to assume they didn't unveil their expanded downtown skyline until around 1988: If anyone else can comment on this, let me know. November 4, 1990: KPRC-TV News Brief: November 4, 1990 10pm weekend newscast: May 17, 1989 6pm newscast: Bill Balleza, Jan Carson, Doug Johnson, Craig Roberts: May 16, 1989: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHRG3Gbg_lk
