Highly anticipated Houston 3D-printed home sits ominous and unfinished

But this is "definitely not a financial issue," said Dr. Hikmat Zerbe, the head of structural engineering for CIVE. "Technically everything is perfect. It is purely a nontechnical issue," he says when asked why the work stopped. "It was stopped by choice and it will continue soon," he added.

While Zerbe declined to give a specific timeline, he told Chron that movement on the project should restart "very soon". According to Zerbe, the privately-funded project was paused due to personal issues from the client, which he confirmed was the architectural firm HANNAH. Zerbe said that the project is gearing up for its next phase: wood framing, building interior partitions, and architectural finishes

HOUSTON–August 9, 2023—Simone Leigh’s towering, 24-foot-high Satellite (2022), an edition for Houston of the artist’s signature work from the 59th Venice Biennale, will be installed in front of the Nancy and Rich Kinder Building for modern and contemporary art in October.

Satellite was the centerpiece of the artist’s project for the American Pavilion in Venice, epitomizing her exploration of the Black female figure through bronze and aligning closely to her vessels, which symbolize and honor Black women. The piece will be sited adjacent to Cristina Iglesias’s water sculpture Inner Landscape (2020), at the entrance to the Kinder Building.

  3. This man has been failing upward his entire life and has a string of controversies behind him, including sharing revenge porn of a subordinate while working as a CHiP.

He's also very much a publicity-seeking hothead — doing shit like kneeling with protestors at Houston's George Floyd march for the 'Gram while his own staff was trampling those very same protestors with horses an hour later.

I think Miami did not do their due diligence, bought into the image he presented, and decided after that fact that he was a bad fit. The Cuban Mafia thing, and other allegations brought up in Miami, don't even scratch the surface of the ways this guy has failed. They just wanted an excuse to get rid of him. That's my take

  4. Coincidental that another thread recently mentioned the Julia Ideson building, as there was (about 18 months ago) a really excellent exhibit there on Houston's Hispanic music heritage, and I believe I saw this picture. I bet you could reach out to the curators for more info and maybe get a look at some of the archived material.
